Emissions Test: Lucky Break!?!?!?

I've avoided getting my emissions testing done because I'm burning oil (no visible smoke, but burning it just the same). I'm pretty sure that the rear head gasket is going. I just planned to drop in the new engine soon, and wasn't worried about getting this motor fixed.

Add to this my nitrous set-up and my obnoxiously loud muffler as the reasons why I've avoided the test.

WELL; today was the last day to get it done before penalty ($$$).

So, I take it in, and the dude who "did" the test LOVED my car!!!!! Sooooo, I told him that I probably wouldn't pass. He said, "don't worry, we don't do the tail-pipe test on your year of car, but rather the OBD II hook-up".

Cool!

So, he tried to remove my ashtray to get to the OBD II connector, and the ashtray won't come out because my wood kit is blocking one of the corners. I offer to remove it for him, and he tells me "not to worry about it."

After about 30 seconds of punching stuff into his computer, he tells me: "Congrats, you passed!!!!!"

They never even checked my car!!!!!!! :P

The dude tells me to take care of my car and have a nice day.

I wish I could buy him a beer!

That is all.

And i say build the motor. It would be kickass to see someone build the shit out of the 6 cylinder motor make it the fastest first gen w/ the original motor.

yeah, they only do the dyno test on OBDI cars in MD. you're fine as long as you're not throwing any CEL codes.

you think you're headgasket is going? ooof.... check the color of your coolant. if it looks milky, then odds are its time for a new one.
