Deep Dish wheels question (anybody know any?)
#6
I've got 3 inch lips on the rears of my wisers
largest lips I think that'll fit with some pretty extensive mods are axis widetracks
fitment isn't even really super aggressive either, the lip is just due to rim/spoke design (I believe rear lips are like 4.x inches and fronts are 3.x):
Front - 18x8 + 20 215.35
Rear - 18x9 + 20 w/ 5mm spacer = +15 225.40
here's them on a 5th gen...basically same wheel accommodation as our cl's:
I was actually considering getting them, but I just dont like the dull lip look, and would only get them if I could get polished lip with diamond cut faces...

yeah i'm partial to the D2's as well. 17x7.5 +25 i think should fit very nicely with some 225/45R17's. they also have +20 i think.
and then the colours, holy crap. black, gumtel, red, gold, silver, flat gunmetal, all with polished lips.

yep. so how gay is this, i can get the rota's shppied from cali to here for $182 a piece or i can get the Sportmax's for $200 tax in locally.
both take about the same time to get here, cause the sportmax is special order.
sportmax is like 22.5lbs in the 17x8 and the rotas i think are 18.9 in the 17x7.5

I'd say go with the D2's they look better and are lighter. I hate the steering feel of heavy wheels, my Axis Mod Se7ens were 22 pounds each. I couldn't even get any tire squeal dropping the clutch with them cuz they were so heavy

those ADR M-Sport looking ones are hot.
I wouldn't get them in Black..
IMO, black is kind of played.
Silver is always safe and clean.
I never heard anything about the rotas -- the sport maxes are good quality- --
but in all honesty - - the center caps are shit.
When I get back to NY i'm going to have my powdercoat man hit these rims up.
I'm thinking of going all chrome with a custom center cap - not A...
They are going to be personalized

realize though, that the d2's have next to no 'real lip' and have a huuuuuuge spoke curvature in person...I personally don't like the look at all...the spokes basically curve all the way outward to the face of the rim, meaning the lip is basically fake. That's why they'll never really be close to Meisters, Termites, or SP1's
yeah I think the axis mods are the second biggest lips you can fit on our cars if you get the 9.x widths, but still nothing close to the wide tracks.....~5 inches of lip on a 9 inch +20mm rim is as good as it gets...that's a lip size that would even make most of my350z.com gawk.
after seeing the pics of them and seeing how light they are (considering they're axis), I'm actually kinda interested in the anthracite ones....

yeah the lower the offset the more 'lip' you should get...but with d2's, you're not really getting much lip no matter what the offset or rim size...lemme dig up some examples...

please and thank you, it's painful trying to find pics on dial-up.

Doesnt matter what size d2's you get, the spokes will curve out and basically reach the rim face. That's the one thing that detracted me from getting them back in the day.
+20 offset...and still notice: no real lip at all, the spokes flare out all the way to the rim face
now compare to real sp1s:
still rim curvature, but you're actually getting some real lip
work s1's: same principal as the sp1's, but even bigger lips and possibly even epic lips the larger the size and lower the offset you go

mmmmmmmmmmmmm, FD's
so i'm not ruling out the D2's. Obv it would be better to get the SP1's or S1's but i'm not sure that i don't like the D2's. I think they'd still look good on the car with the planned paint scheme and overall flavour i'm going with. plus i think the fitment and tire size will be perfect.
i'm getting the guy to take pics of the actual ones i'd be buying.
guess we'll see tomorrow night. lol, i'll wait till saturday to pull the trigger just in case the lotto tickets come thru on friday
