It's funny that you guys don't get that you can't just buff/wetsand the stuff off. Why you ask? Because there is no paint there!!

I wish I didn't do my debadging with my father. He just ripped the emblems off without trying to get as much goo with it.

yeah welcome to the pitting club.

probably happened due to a lack of paint care over the years and the weather in your area. my parents pretty much neglected the car since they bought it new in 97 and it showed when I debadged...water/sun damage pretty much ate all the way into the metal.

spot painting/wetsanding/rotary buffing may work, but I doubt the results will be stellar as these aren't exactly 'tiny' areas you're working with. Best bet would be to use a the honda mini touch up paint bottles, apply it into each individual pit with a toothpic or needle point til it's above the level of the clear surface, wetsand with 1500 grit, and hit it hard with the rotary and some medium grit compound. Might not hurt to try it if you already have the tools or a cheap hookup. Report back if you go that route though, as my outlines are really starting to irk me, since I'm a perfectionist.

The solution is in.

So guys, I just got back from the body shop. He took 2000 Grit wet sand paper to it. That failed. He tried rubbing it out with Professional rubbing compound. His solution: "either glue em back on or 300 bucks to repaint the lid." "It wont ever match right but it might be close."

As of now I am not paying 300 bucks to repaint my trunk lid, yet the pitting makes me barf.

So...what should i do?

Go to another body shop because that fool is retarded. He probably made it worse with the rubbing compound because that just digs the pitting in deeper. There is obviously nothing on the paint to wetsand or rubbing compound. I tied touch up paint and wetsand but the Cyprus Green Pearl that Acura gave me is really noticably lighter than what is on right now. It does look ALOT better though. Some of you have seen the transition from my older pics. other than touch up, the only thing you really can do is to repaint the trunk or put the badges back on..

I'm sure it'll come off, just use a razor blade, body paint cleans up just like glass does when you use a razor.

$200 on the trunk sounds about right... its ridiculous how much little shit like that costs. The quote I got for my spoiler color matched and mounted as $230 give or take.

JUST WETSAND, WITH 2000 THEN 4000, THEN BUFF WITH MEGUIERS COMPOUND CLEANER, THEN SWIRL FREE REMOVER AND POLISH, THEN WAX IT, THEN SEAL IT.

It should work.

If that does not work you will have to get it painted.

Sorry.

Been detailing cars for 15 years so hope this helps.
