Ugh, I don't want to get into it that deep.. lol
Glad you decited to kinda keep it.
But seriously, your car is one of my inspirations. Your car is the one that made me want to get black 10 spoked rims, a drop, and taillight tint. (which I will get next summer )

I looked into integra 9006 projectors, but they don't have very good output with hid's I wouldn't recommend going through all that trouble

As for the CF hosing, that was my original idea, but I couldn't find anyone to do it for me at the time

Project Retrofit: Update

The TSX projos just came in today!!

Day shot.

Dark shot w/ flash.

Still need to clean the lens with my eye glasses microfiber cloth. (there is a little lint, but no scratches!)

Now I wish I could say that I could just start retrofitting right now and over Christmas break but..... My parents thought it would be a good idea to spend Christmas break in El Paso with the family... Which means, no tools, and no internet. I'll take tons of pics when I start with the retrofitting for a DIY guide.

Alright, a little update. I got good news and bad news.
Good news is that I already opened up the headlights, trimmed the shrouds, and am ready to start cutting out the hole for the projectors.
The bad news is that I have to keep so focused on this trial and error project that it's too hard to take pictures and write up a DIY. I will however help out anyone that needs help retrofitting when everything is done. (I myself still need a little help every now and then.)

Same reason I didn't make a diy, plus I wouldn't take responsibility for people hacking up their headlights, glad I can help you along though bro

Thumbs up Another Update

Things have been going smooth with the retrofit so far. Just cut the hole for the projector and it fits just perfect. Now I just gotta drill the holes for the bolts, bolt it on, finish trimming/painting the shroud, and find some black vinyl somewhere for the backing and I'm done with the first light. Here's a couple of pics:

and if I wanted to go with the CF backing instead of black vinyl

I'm using the TSX projectors like blackack, asianspec, and I think dragon. S2000 projectors are great and all but overpriced and in the end, look exactly like any other projector when the shroud is on. I just got the TSX ones because that's what most people use and I heard that they have the best cutoff and can be easily colormoded.

Also, about colormoding, I heared that to get better colors on the cutoff, you could put some washers to bend the housing a little like the picture below. Dose anyone know anything about this?

The reason why I was considering CF was because I might eventualy get a CF hood. I'm just gonna use black vinyl though.

Holy crap, just got a great idea for a grill for blackack. CF wrap the edge of the ebay grill.

Please don't do CF

Color modding is just using washers

I already tried to get one of those in CF, no one there speaks engrish

Go back to your regularly scheduled whoring

Update!!

Nah, I'm not doing CF. It was just an idea.

Alright, thanks, I thought so.

Damn, that would be sick..

Haha, thanks..
And it's only whoring cause no one else *cough* Ryan *cough* want's to share their current projects.

Trimmed the shroud to fit the projector.

Trimmed the shroud to fit the housing.

Almost done with the first light! Just gotta paint the shroud, bolt on the projector, and apply the vinyl backing..

have you test fitted the front of the headlight over that?
you probably have, but just make sure it all fits together right before you go finalizing stuff.

I don't think I'm going to do anything with the high beam housing but I'm thinking of just painting the whole thing black. There was a member a looooong time ago (I think he was eventualy banned) that had a Inza Red Pearl CL and blacked out the entire reflector housing. I forgot what it looked like but i remember it looking pretty slick and devilish. I'll probably just leave it alone though.

If anyone can find those pics I'm looking for that would be great.

Actualy, I haven't. There is soooo much sealant everywhere I can't put the blackhousing frame on..I will before I drill the holes for the projos though. And I'm having a bit of trouble putting the reflector housing back inside the headlight housing.

jeez there's sealant sealing that frame inside the front??

what's giving you trouble about the housing? lining up the screws or something?

Yeah they look like they're sitting a bit too far forward, but maybe that's cuz you were just showing how they'd look

Actualy the projo is sitting as far back as it can. It just looks far away because the blackhouse housing trim isn't on. Here's some pics with it on.

The blackhousing trim sits alot more forward when mounted on the lens of the lights. I just can't mount them to the lens because of all the sealant..

I now am thinking of painting the shrouds chrome. If I paint them black, that would be wayyyyyy too much black imo. Blackhousing, black vinyl backing, black shrouds... I want it to look more OEM. BTW, I have another front end surprise.

^^ I was actualy thinking of that but I want it to look more OEM.
Maybe if I saw an example of color matched shrouds I might consider it again. I tried looking about a week ago but couldn't find any.
edit: I Just saw an example of a white ricey eclipse with white shrouds.. I need more examples.

Yeah, there is so much sealant that it oozed down to the blackhousing frame to the front when I pulled the lights apart.

Yeah, every time I see color matched projectors, the car is either black or white..
When I bolt on the projos and but on the black vinyl backing I'll do a little photoshopping to it and see how it looks. I have always wanted the retrofit to look very pristine oem but have also wanted to do something original so I'll see how it gose. I'll probably just end up painting the shrouds silver though.

If my car wasn't black, I would have painted my shrouds the color of the car most likely, the only reason I like the black with the cf that looks like black vinyl from far away is because it all ties in with my black car, also I keep the chrome housings to look somewhat more oem. With your car, I think color matching them to the car would be the perfect look with that black housing and black vinyl, chrome is another great idea but I think the green with your car would be sick.

I just bought my CL a few weeks ago, and the guy who previously owned it was leaning more in the direction of Tokyo Drift It has a ten dollar CAI, and he painted the acura logos, rims and grille in black...but used a poor quality paint and its all chipping off
By the time summer rolls around, im painting this godzilla of a green asian monster black, installing projectors (most likley using this thread as a guide ) Im still in the "brainstorming" part of it I suppose.

and ninja, I agree with the other guys, painting your shrouds to match your car ftw

Thanks man. I do have to admit, they are coming out alot better than I even thought and haven't had many problems (thanks to blackack) to deal with. Everything is almost finished and then I'm moving on to the next light which will be alot easier now that all I have to do is duplicate the steps.

I'm not going to post any more updates till it's done because, well, it's almost done and I just figured out exactly what I'm doing with the shrouds and some other front end mods. They should be done by the end of this weekend.

^^ Deffinitly not Klepto's. And btw its Klepto, not Kelpto. And yeah, that's acura1983's car. I LOVED his other color much more....still sick car though. If I ever get enough money after a drop and wheels next summer, I'll probably either get that Teg Drift Kit front bumper or a WW lip.
