Car starts..then dies.
Not sure what could be happening but when I start my car, it'll either a.) start up great, no problems at all. b.) Start up then sounds like it hasnt really started and instead sounds like its shaking or making a gurgling noise. c.) Start up then shut down.
Today it was fine, then b.) occured. then c.) happened later. So once i started it, I gave it some gas and revved it and it was fine.
Anyone have some ideas what it could be?
Thanks.

Mine does the same thing - it's a fuel problem. Turn the key on ignition for 4 seconds before starting it and it should take care of it.
Could be the fuel pump going bad or you might need a replacement fuel filter - in any event mine's been doing it for over a year and it's never let me sit. It'll always fire and stay running if you rev it a little bit.

Def sounds like a fuel delivery problem Ryan, I would guess either the fuel pump or fuel filter

Eh, I mean I can't be too mad at it. It fired up in like negative degree weather when I was up north. So I mean its not doing too bad. And if I didnt lower it, I wouldnt have a problem with my tires rubbing, or if I left the stockies on it. I just got an idea..., anyway I'll check the fuel filter out. any idea how much itd cost to get that stuff changed out?
and I dont think I qualify for the warranty spencer.

warranty recall is for 97's only i thought, shop would prob charge about $100 to change the FF. Keep in mind it's a "non-serviceable item" so some shops may give you trouble with it, but most oil change places should do it.

yeah i'd start with the fuel filter first...its kinda a bitch to work on in the 3.0's (i forgot if you have a 3.0 or not) since its located in the center of the engine bay along the firewall and the banjo bolt is underneath, but I changed mine in about an hour. I'd start with that first bruh...good luck

I had this happen once and once only. Weird just out of nowhere she would start go to rev down and rev down to 0. would do it over and over till I did get it to rev up, kept it at 2k rpms for 30 secs and then idled down......worked. Betting mine is the fuel filter, since it makes more sense than the pump. Glad I'm not alone on this, kinda freaked me o0ut when it happened.

changing the fuel filter is doable, I did it, but it was a pain in the ass like flip said, banjo bolt is actually on the top, but you need a special fuel filter wrench for the lower hose bolt.

yeah ya told me before, anyone know what honda charges to change it out? I hate even going into any stealership, but from the way you described the filter change before, I dont feel like I have enough hair left on my head to do it myself.

97 is right, my bad the banjo bolt is on top. I was actually able to do the bottom bolt using a regular open ended wrench and another wrench to twist the filter out but jesus it was a pain in the ass and I most likely wouldn't want to do it again. I wouldn't imagine the dealer would charge you more than 50 bucks or so for labor on that, but you never know.
and the jumpy /erratic speedometer problem sounds like it could also possibly be your vss sensor on its way out, but not sure. its a cheap easy fix either way
