Brake Job...........

How much should a complete brake job cost me at a reputable shop? To include four new calipers, pads all around, new rotors up front, and turned rotors in the rear.

The car is a 98 3.0............getting the rear pads for free, they were guaranteed for the life of the car. Car failed VA State Inspection for the rear pads, was told the fronts were border line.

Here's the deal, all four calipers are shot, they are sticking, hence the premature break down of the pads. Which are less then a year old. When I replaced the pads a year ago, I knew the calipers would eventually need to be replaced. The shop lubed them as best they could to spare me the expense of replacing them a year ago.

The car just failed VA Inspection cuz of the rear pads. The fronts were close.

I've had the work done, the rotors on the front were replaced, they were rusted on so badly that the screws holding them on the spindles had to be drilled out in order to remove the rotors. The rear rotors needed turned, couldn't be done, they were so rusted it was either drill them out and replace them or leave them alone and replace the calipers and pads. The rears weren't gouged, just glazed over, so I'm hoping worst case all I'll get is a bit of brake noise until the new pads seat in.

I hate not being able to do this crap myself.............living in an apt I'm limited as to the work I can do. Putting the car up on jack stands and doing a brake job isn't allowed! So I have to bite the bullet and have the work done at a local shop.

By the way it cost me $1000.00..........this included all the parts and labor, wiper blades, and a State Inspection sticker.
