Aggressive leak under car near passenger tire...please help identify
Just noticed a pool of liquid under my car located near the front passenger tire (accross from the mudflap)
I attached a pic of the leaking culprit, its right next to that large bolt assembly thingy (please excuse the n00bishness) liquid appears to be clear and odorless....but I'm worried
Car is a 97 3.0 auto trans...
please advise...thanks

I actually had this happen today, for about 1 second, I was wondering what the hell was leaking and than duhh.....It was pretty humid today.
When diagnosing this stuff, look at it, smell it, and if necessary taste it. You'll figure it out pretty quick. Not saying go taste everything, but if you're unsure, it can only be one of these things
oil=amber to black, smells like burning tires and feels slippery, black smoke
antifreeze=clear/green and sometimes red, sweet smelling, and a bit slippery white smoke(steam)
water= well I'm not explaining that
trans fluid= red, a bit sweet smelling, thick and means your f'ed.
brake fluid=smells like oil, but would be around the wheels or master cylinder amber
steering fluid= about the same as brake fluid but would come out the front of the engine(note not the car...engine) or from under the steering rack
gas=smells like gas, can't be much else.
I only thought of this because I explained it to my wife this way...

there's a big difference between taste and ingest. No shit antifreeze is poison but a 1/4ml wouldn't harm you more than the air you breathe. I'm not even sure I've ever actually had to touch the liquid with my tongue before. You can pretty much taste stuff like this just by getting it close. When you use your nose fingers and indirect sense of taste you can not only what fluid it is, but many times you can tell what happened.
