The guy that rebuilt my tranny says "the reason i feel it jerk when it shifts, and i didnt before was because it was slipping into gears"

In my experience, a properly rebuilt tranny should operate like it did when new (or very close to it). I think the guy that rebulit r0dxx's tranny is full of

my 3.0cl always has been jerky... when i test drove it i noticed it quickly.. on consumer report it says:
"In contrast, the 3.0-liter V6 delivers brisk acceleration. Unfortunately, with either engine the automatic transmission tends to shift with a bothersome jolt when pushing hard on the gas. In addition, the transmission sometimes seems almost confused about which gear to be in during stop-and-go driving" haha so i got used to it quickly after i bought the car.

so any problem other than that i dunno ;\

so how much jerking is normal and when does it become a sign of a dying transmission?

My first tranny was fine (no jerk) for a year or so, then it started jerking and was dead within a couple of months. My second was fine for a couple of months then started jerking and lasted almost a full year. Now it is dead and getting rebuilt (I think).

As posted above, mine was fine as long as I eased off the gas between 1st and 2nd. It also flared a little after a long trip (3 hrs) with 4 people in the car. I think that whenever it jerks it's a sign of a problem (could be electrical at first), but when it starts slipping in other gears (2nd to 3rd) and slips in and out more than once on the same shift it's getting serious.

Depends where you go and where you're located from what I've heard. AAMCO wants $2500. Most garages (around here) will do it for $1800-$2000, but elsewhere they'll supposedly do it for $1500 or so. Or you can rebuild it yourself (see thread on this page for details) for under $400....

thats what i read.. ive never driven any other cl.. i bought this one after graduation in june.. this was actually the 1st and only i test drove too.. was soo clean and @ 55k i couldnt resist..
the jerking seems from 1st to 2nd.. 2nd to 3rd is typically smooth.. i cant say its common but seems possible since alot of us feel this "jerking"

i wonder if the jerking has anything to do with poor motor mounts? or tranny mounts? maybe if they don't do their job good, they can affect the tranny/engine? since theyre not supposed to move?

It's the first gear switch in the tranny. Go to Autopalace or a similar place and have them check the engine codes. Mine came back with that and I had the same problem. Not sure what it means or how to fix, but that's what I got.

is it while the pedal is down. if so make sure all the plug wires are in fully. our 3.0's have a tendancy for popping plug wires out. especially after installing bosch platnum plugs. and check to make sure the wire ends on the distributor cap is on fully.
