Went to run some errands today and my 99 CL 3.0 wouldn't shift out of Park. I then pumped the brake pedal a bit and finally got it into gear. This happened 3 times today and has never happened before.

I did a search on the forums and it seems that it could be caused by a number of things. My brake lights appear to be working so I think my problem may be similar to the post listed below:

I remember receiving a mailing about a recall regaring a recall which I haven't gotten around to doing. I'm not sure its related to my problem above.

Anyone else experience this on their CL? Any other tips?

Also I tried to remove the small cover on the shift plate and to my surprise there was no key slot. It was just an empty cavity.

You should be able to slip a small screwdriver in there toward the bottom side of the hole to disengage the shift interlock as can be seen at 1:08 in this video.
