98 cl flares all 3 upshifts
took the solenoids out and cleaned screens. The TCC pair were the only ones real bad.
Now the only problem is that is flares between every upshift everytime, but also I can now let up on pedal and it will shift into the correct gear and away I go. It does seem to lock up and everything. It's actually drivable once you get used to it...
Is getting a solenoid "B" code, but that wouldn't mess up all 3 shifts, right?
in TroubleShootMyVehicle.com is said the lateral clutch solenoids could cause this, but they are 2 separate valves and hard to believe both died at same time. And they both pass OHM test and click freely.
It does have Dexron-3 in it. Supposed to be OK for temp use...
I suppose I should replace the lateral and the B+C shift solenoids, but in additional to these troubles, the tranny leaks and can't tell from where and not sure where this ends. Ugh. Thanks.

All shifts can be messed up by that or another solenoid. If you can, get a new unit asap. They can click and pass an ohm test but still the valves dont move crisp like they should. Its a 17 year old car after all.
Get a case of Honda atf dw1 and drain and fill until all the other fluid is eliminated.
Its easy to tell where a leak is coming from. Its either one of the axle seals or the case seal itself. Also check the drain bolt.

UPDATE: Went to junkyard. Bought lateral, B, C and TCC/A solenoids. picked up the 2 sensors I saw on the tranny just in case.
The TCC/A didn't test out, Part 1 -How to Test: TCC Solenoid and Shift Solenoid A (Honda 2.2L, 2.3L) but the others were fine.
Replaced the other 3 and tranny shifts quite smooth now. $30.00.
A bit of flare/lag between 1 & 2. Doesn't sound like that's due to the TCC/A. Possibly due to using the Dexron-3 fluid. or could be clutches...will drive gently.... used blue goo to try to stop leaking... will see. May change to genuine honda ATF if leaks stop.
thanks for advice from community.
