And yet another drive review
Quick note on my driving impressions on V6 TLX Advanced.
The car looks better in person than in the pics....very pleased with appearance all the way around. Driver side is very comfortable, although I missed the stick shift and not sure about elbow position on drivers side door. The cushioning on door and center console are softer than my 3G, as are the seats.
Only took a short test drive but the car is quiet and smooth. I tested the acceleration in Normal mode....brought car up to 50, then stepped on it as if to pass. Definite delay both in that situation and a little from the standstill. Paddle shift down a couple of gears and good response. Going into Sport + mode made a big difference in acceleration performance...no delay and instant power. I guess that 34 mpg will drop if use Sport + all the time. Most of the driving was in town and up on highway....need some back windy roads for handling analysis.
I thought that the rear seating was actually pretty good. I am 5' 10" and adjusted the driver seat to my liking. Hopped in back and had plenty of room....knees did not touch and felt good. Headroom in rear is tighter, so someone tall may have to deal. I rarely have passengers in back other than 90 pound German Shepherd, and I doubt that he cares too much about headroom.
Overall I like the new TLX. Looks and comfort were good. Not sure about the V6 9 speed for me. They are getting of the i4 DCT in next week, and I am very interested in comparing the two. I think/hope that the performance of the i4 may be more to my liking.
The sales guys looked happy. I think that they have a winner and I am sure that they are to get busy again with sedans.
