Windshield replacement - 2015 TLX Base 2wd 4 cyc
Hi
I need to replace the windshield on my 2015 TLX 2WD Base 4 cyc engine with 43k miles on it. Anyone know the typical cost or replacement? And where should I get it done? I'm afraid to go to the dealership for the cost and I hear they do not replace with the OEM original. I got an online quote from Safelite Auto Glass for about $450. I'm planning to get it replaced in a couple of weeks.
Other thoughts and recommendations are welcome Thanks

Actually doesn't cost triple, I had my windshield replace at the dealer total cost was $750 15 tlx 4cyc tech. This was when the car was new and aftermarket windshield was not an available option.

The dealership I bought the car from quoted me $875 + tax for the windshield and for installation it would be an additional $350 + tax.
Now if the car had cameras for lane keeping assist the installation fee would be $550+ tax. The additional $200 is for the calibration.
I'm going thru my insurance company... they set me up with safelite auto glass and I have a low deductible. Since I have the TLX base model without the bells and whistles I'm thinking this should be fine. If I choose to go without my insurance company my cost would have been 450 - 500 with safelite.
About 10 years ago I replaced my base model CRV windshield for $200 what a difference...

Just be sure the glass in a 100% match for your Honda glass. In many cases the 3rd party glass is not the same. Glass can be special with rain sensors, heads up displays, actually be a structural member of the car etc.
Personally had an experience where the first install of Safelite auto glass failed because of the cars rain sensor. They made good at their expense but was still double the down time.

Suck that Acura require OEM glasses for those sensors. I spoke to 2 different, well reviews, glass shops here, and they both said they have not heard about OEM requirement for those lkas system for other brand. I had a crack at the moment, and it cannot be fix due to it was too closed to the old chip spot that was repaired (horrible job by safelite). I will wait until the crack spread across the whole windshield. I did bought glass replacement insurance but they wont pay for the re-calibrate. Hate to have the glass replace right now, I'm afraid it no longer the same after the original come out.
