That you drive a slow TLX not a quick Mustang so its fine for you to run cheap gas to save up enough for a dinner for two once a year. Hey, I save big bucks too with my Shell $0.10 a gallon reduction at the pump.

FORDS fine print says performance claims are on 92 octane but the engine will run on regular. The COYOTE runs very well but it is 5 liters not 3 liters like the other 4 second cars in the 3500 to 3800 weight class like my 440 which runs 93 octane. Mileage also is not that good COYOTE 5.0 16/25/19 combined vs BMW 440 3.0T 21/32/25

But as long as you bring up the COYOTE it is a DOHC 32 valve V8. Very well designed & adaptable engine, the Chevy Small Block of the 21st Century.Comes in a lot of flavors depending on how its set up. Top end is in the 1000/1200 HP area. Mine is a modest 477WHP or 548BHP at the crank.

Just pure diversion and no point. Ok, we got it.

Possibly giving up 3% or 12-15HP but that's zealous to claim that you'll feel them for daily driving. Will still do awesome 0-60mph with maybe 0.2s slower than on premium, Only a few years ago this engine was doing 412HP, with no FI added now it is... 460!

You missed the memo, with FI it does 735WHP.

Agree its an excellent engine thats why I bought one from FORD racing. That said BHP ratings from the manufacturer can be misleading. The 2018 on 93 octane fuel dynoed with the auto transmission’s 1:1 7th gear showed a 427-horsepower/402 lb-ft baseline about 50WHP less then the crate motor.

As for fuel I don't really think to many people are buying a COYOTE to run on regular gas as the few tenths is more important to them then say the average TLX buyer who is looking for a nice family car not a sports car.

Have not seen a regular fuel run but one of my cars showed a 20WHP (25BHP) drop 93 to 91. Again not important to you but it is important to some one buying a performance car

Typical cars & coffee will see a large number of GT's & no TLX cars. Nothing unusual about that just very different customer bases. The GT buyer wants to see the horsepower & the TLX buyer wants to see fuel economy as so many have said here.

BTW Interesting comments in the BMW/Tesla thread you wrote about the Acura TLX MSD interest rate reduction you got.

I get some chirping noise when i use a lower grade under 90 fuel than Premium.. so stopped using that to avoid issues.
