You have to get it fixed and sealed, and soon. Any moisture trapped below will expand when frozen allowing a larger gap and more moisture. This will eventually dislodge the spoiler.

Based on the pics I have seen here, this is totally unacceptable.. WTF is Acura thinking..
My rear decklid spoiler isn't flush either, the front and sides are ok, but the rear portion wear it curves over the trunk, there is a large gap all the way down the spoiler, and the tape is starting to pull on the left side. You can see the little foam cushions that the spoiler rests on underneath, and there not even touching the decklid.
I was at the dealer today picking up my side skirts, and there was silver TLX in the parking bay, with a decklid spoiler. The install on it was perfect, no gaps and zero issues with the tape lifting, it was perfectly flush. I asked the owner who installed, and they said it was the same dealer. I asked my service advisor if there was a new template or spoiler re-design, and he unfortunately just brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal, and pretty much acted like i should just deal with it. I left, and i will wait until Monday and speak with the Service director, and hopefully he will help me.
This acura was my first one without the spoiler, imo they should have kept the same style as in the past generations of TLs, narrow not something as big as what is currently offered. I saw the flaw on a showroom TLX, I knew better, it did not sit well on the left side. The right side seem to sit perfectly. I am sure they will fix it for all of you.
Yup, yours looks perfect. Mine along that whole lower edge has a big gap, and the tape is lifting on the left side
The dealer agreed after much fuss to replace mine under warranty. He kept trying to say that it's not a hand build part and there not going to all fit the same. Even 2 of there loaners had a perfect install with no gaps. The service writer I worked with didn't have a very respectful attitude towards me.
Picked it up tonight after they had already gone home, and it's exactly the same. After I get home I see one of the clips that's supposed to hold it on is in one of the drain channels on inside of the trunk, so who knows if there is even one where there is supposed to be (the clip looks brand new) The spoiler I noticed is also sitting further to the left edge of the trunk then the right. At this point I think the initial tech did a rush job and didn't align the template right, so things don't line up properly, so the spoiler distorts when installed. I'm going back tomorrow to speak with the service director and GM of the dealership.

Heres what the install looks like on there white loaner. Appears to be perfect to me. No tape pulling, and no gaps. Even on both sides. I think that there is nothing wrong with the spoilers, i think it has all to do with how well the tech installed and lined up the templates to drill the holes.
Here's what my install looks like. It doesn't look bad from the top, but from the back you can see the gap all along the bottom edge. If looks like the "leading edge" tape is pulling slightly as well.

It almost looks as though the grey one is intalled closer to the edge of the trunk than the white one. The white one looks like it is set back a bit and the downward curvature of the leading edge of the trunk on the grey one is why there is a gap. Just my

I think i see what you mean, it may just be the way it looks in the photo, though tomorrow I'm going to print out template C from the instructions and see where it sits, because thats the template there supposed to follow when it comes to how far back the spoiler is supposed to sit on the trunk. If it's off, it's something i will certainly point out when i go back to the dealership to talk to them.

When you lift up the trunk you can actually see underneath the spoiler. Theres these little foam pads the spoiler is supposed to sit on, and those aren't even touching the deck lid.
Based on my cutout of template C from the instructions, the spoiler is not pushed far enough back, nor aligned properly. Like treblig said, that's probably why there is a gap where there is on the spoiler
Definitely needs to be redone and the dealers should not be giving anyone a hard time! I saw that immediately as I previously expressed, this car I said no spoiler for me. I would have been complaining just like all you have been. Be firm. Keep us posted
Went and spoke with the GM of the dealership today. Long story short, he was very receptive to my concerns, and agreed with me about the fitment of the spoiler. He brought out the service and parts managers and they also both agreed. They replaced the spoiler for a 3rd time on the spot, right away with no appointment, this time with a different tech from a different team (who said he had 4 other techs with him to help). When i went out to the shop to see it, i saw several techs around my vehicle. The fit is better, but still not perfect. The tech said he verified the positioning with the templates provided, and lined everything up. He said towards the edges of the spoilers there is no double sided tape, just felt material, which is according to him why they don't sit completely flush. The service manager and GM both looked at it, and agreed that it looked better then before, and that Acura should of used more double sided tape to secure the spoiler.
We did walk around the dealership and there were 4 other TLX's with spoilers on them on the lot, 1 black, 2 slate silver and 1 Black Copper, and they all had the same gap in the same spot. 1 of the silver ones was the best out of the group, with just a small gap noted. The only perfect ones i've seen were the silver one i saw initially on a customers car, on the white loaner vehicle, which of course wasn't there today,and the white one from the poster above. They have sold and installed about 40 of them according to the parts manager, and they haven't had any returns or complaints other then mine. They sell enough of them to keep every color in stock.
At this point, I'm going to take there word that they have installed the spoiler to the best of there ability, with the template provided. I did not see the car with the spoiler off, but the tech said he verified the correct spots were marked and drilled per the template provided by Acura, and i'm going to take his word for it.
I really don't know if its because there's a fitment issue with the spoilers like others have noted, or if it's an installer error somewhere. I won't be trying a forth, unless a revision is made by Acura, at least at this dealership, because it will just come out the same, unless there's only 1 tech there that knows how to do it and he took the night off tonight, lol.
I've had the car for 3 months and initially there were no issues with the fit of the spoiler. Recently, I've noticed the left and right inner edges, where the spoiler curves, are starting to have a small gap between the spoiler and trunk. I can almost see the foam/tape underneath. My only concern is when winter arrives, water trapped between these edges will expand making things worse.
I'm not sure if the dealer will do anything and I'm worried if they do it could be worse and there are other fitment issues. Currently, the outside edges are fine.
Wow, I am glad I came across this thread. Anyone have any input on if there are any issues at this point? I remember seeing that they made some changes to the template a while back. I was thinking of purchasing the oem lip kit and spoiler online and having a local body shop install it, but might have Acura install it just in case there are issues they will have to fix it under warranty
No Acura updates as of yet . My dealers suggested fix was to paint the edge of the white tape to match the body color. I said no thanks. I cannot believe that Acura has not addressed this obvious fitment issue. Honda is known for the precise fitment.
I wish I could. Unfortunately will be dropping the car off and have to go to work. I will definitely be informing the dealer about what I have read in this thread before I leave
I agree with others that I wish Acura would pick up the ball and fix this issue. The spoiler looks great on the TLX and it's a shame with the fitment issues.
i told my dealer two weeks ago when they installed my deck lid spoiler that the right and left sides were lifting and the double sided tape wasnt strong enough or something and they looked at me and said it was perfectly fine and the install was great. i noticed this week that they were lifting up more and i just took it in on tuesday and they were shocked. they even had to keep my car overnight because all they did was take off my spoiler and reapply the double sided tape and they said it lifted off again, they then ordered a new spoiler for me and its a bit better... the right side is firmly placed fine now with the double sided tape but the left is ehhh. im really not happy the way they have the install for this spoiler
I was never happy with the design of the OEM spoiler, thought it was to chunky/oversized. I found this more understated spoiler, even though its only 3M tape. But once color coded to the car, will look awesome.
Got my aero kit and spoiler installed. I am satisfied with the spoiler. It is centered and straight. No tape visible. Tiny gap on the front corners but not even as thick as a credit card.
One thing I am disappointed in is one of the aero kit pieces on the rear bumper appears to have a bit of a gap. Only noticeable if your crouching down and looking directly at the spot. Not the end of the world but will take back to dealer if it gets worse
I installed mine last night, I did notice the foam on the sides of the spoiler where most of the issues are coming into play was thick, causing it not to sit completely flush. With that said, there are HUGE pieces of 3M tape on the sides, I have no concerns of the spoiler coming up.
I am happy with my fitment. I think it came out pretty good.

Greta thread guys, and you can assume why I'm here....yes, my spoiler, and the replacement spoiler, does not fit correctly. Had I seen this thread before I bought the car and had them put a spoiler on I CERTAINLY wouldn't have done it!!
But now I'm there, there are three holes in my trunk, my car is at the dealer, some more, while they try to figure a way to get the spoiler to stick down properly.
It seems to me that despite the vendor making a new spoiler and/or fitment template that there are still issues, including on mine.
What seems to be the consensus on this problem? Poorly shaped spoiler? Insufficient amount of tape or quality of tape? Template still not quite right? Installer variables?
i forgot to add this to my previous message. So I actually have an aftermarket version of the OEM deck spoiler but its not from Acura so the instructions they have on the honda installation page does not apply. The spoiler i have is basically the spoiler with 3m tape on the edges and 2 white plastic screws which would lead me to assume that 2 holes need to be drilled on each of the ends. I was wondering what would happen if i did not drill and instead added another layer of 3m tape just inside the existing tape, and also used silicone sealant at key points. Any thoughts on this approach? Thanks.
