TLX and Radar Detector use case

My escort redline gets false band alerts when I am behind a tlx (I assume with tech package) since i did not see the round spots in the bumper for the advance package. Does anyone know the car will set off the k band inside the car? I assume that the systems point outward and turning of K band is not an option for me. I am wondering if I go with the TLX if my detector becomes obsolete due to this. Thanks

I have a detector in my TLX and I do not get phantom K band or any other band alerts. I have not noticed K band lighting up around other TLXs either and I see at least 2 or more per day. But I will keep a closer eye on that now.

Do you have the tech or advance package? Thanks

I have an Escort 9500ix Blue that I have had for a few years. If you check the Escort or Valentine forums you will find out that the Blind Spot Warning and radar lane change on most newer cars use the frequency range for K-band radar, 24.050-24.250 GHz. It becomes very difficult to pass a newer car when my radar detector goes off every time I pull up into is blind spot.

I went back to the dealer. When the detector is in the car the car itself does not trigger any false alarms.

Mine is notorious to MDX.

TLX Not so much. I don't know why and sometimes I feel like my own detector is triggering by my car's blind spot :S

I have Escort Max 360.

Do the jurisdictions around you use K band? I've disabled K and X band on my radar detector for years now.

My Passport 8500 is set off all the time by car radar all the time. Where I work we have 2 police depts., town & village. Town uses Ka, but village uses K. My wife's TLX sets off my detector all the time also when it's in my car & she's behind me. I'm pretty used to it & can usually tell the difference between car radar & speed radar. Usually. Lets be careful out there.

K band still in use around me although it's mostly Ka but since K is still around it isn't possible to turn it off and still rely on the unit.

I have an advanced model and use the Valentine V1. I only get false positives around newer Cadillacs.

I just picked up a new TLX yesterday. Found the car itself sets off my Redline on K band in the garage where the signal must reflect back and sometimes when behind other cars. I used to get the occasional false from BSM systems but I definitely am getting falses now from my own car. I may pick up a Radenso and see how that goes. It has some of the best BSM filtering out there

I have the Beltronics Sti Magnum hardwired in my Advance, and the BSM sets off my K-band like crazy. I've since disabled the K-band.

Mine also reflects back and sets it off in the garage. Have you noticed which vehicles set it off or is it literally all of them? Maybe get a V1

I know the MDX usually sets it off and most audis, a few others as well. I think my tlx sets it off more than anything else on reflecting off other cars or buildings. I am thinking of going back to a Radenso as their filtering is some of the best. K band still in use in one town near me otherwise I would just turn it off and be fine.

Odd. I have an Advance model paired with a Valentine One, and don't notice any falsing from my TLX itself.
