Now I wonder what the next gen Accord 2018 will look like. It is probably rolling somewhere.

They could have cranked the HP a bit, but not if mpg is down. 2016+ ZF9 are perfectly fine transmissions.

The grille is an improvement but Honda has "overworked" the spoilers lately - see the Civic Si 2017.

The TLX is a car of balance, not of extremes. The MMC continues that trend. Costco car.

I would buy my car again. If it was 2018, I'd have a closer look to the upcoming 2018 Buick Regal GS V6 (nee Opel Insignia). But never know... one aspect where Acura always wins over GM is the lease conditions.

I am of the dissenting opinion but I like it. It is a MMC so not too bad. I would have liked a HP bump but I think these will show well on the road. At least they stole the red leather Camry thunder.

PROS:
standard Acura watch
apple car play/ android auto
aggressive A spec styling
exposed exhaust
led turn signals
Better looking wheels

CONS:
Black grill is too big, makes the car look like a Bus
The fog lights could had been more stylish
Acura need a panoramic sun roof. (At least on the A-Spec)
Powertrain differentiation from the A-spec to basic

They need a new spokesman, this dude almost put me to sleep. + They should have had the car on a spinning platform on the stage for a better all around look

anyway...

nothing to wow me here. I'm satisfied with my 16 I4 tech and plan on keeping it for a couple years.

Those pros (less the fog light con) also apply to the Accord V6 Touring.

looks like they are going after the 4G crowd but I see no reason to trade in my perfectly fine 2014 SH-AWD for this. I said a few weeks ago I am going to give them 2 years to get their shit together and offer a better engine/tranny option that is on par or in the ballpark to what Lexus or Infiniti is offering or I am done and moving on. Love my 4G and loved my 3G before that but if Acura can't stop being so lazy and uninspired they will lose a loyal customer. Simple as that.

You know, I probably wouldn't vent this much if Acura was more low key about the "unveil". This sh-t ranks right there with Maddow's Donald Trump tax return big "reveal".

Acura is not honest and transparent and feels like a cheating S/O....
If they were smart they'd just do a performance line. They are seriously being left in the dust. Infiniti is about to put in a tuning line like Brabus & Dinan that can be done at the dealership and not void warranty to their already fast Red Sport and even for the Silver Sport which by itself blows the TLX out the water in speed. Lexus has the F series. Audi, S, of course then there's AMG, M etc. I guess they really don't give a damn about performance as long as it looks fast. You had a good run Acura.

Acura's biggest or most important attribute is (was?) that the TLX is AWD with torque vectoring. Now that lincolns, cadillac's and buicks are coming with very similar AWD systems....Acura should have done something big. Sadly we got mr potato head mustache grille and nothing else. Red leather, big whoop. The Buick Regal GS is going to kill the TLX.

I am actually very intrigued by the new Regal. Love the styling. I have said this before, Buick has come a long way seems they could be a real TLX threat.

These are the latest spypics for the 18 Accord. Pretty sure it will be a 2.0T with roughly 250HP and 0-60 in 5.4 seconds as Honda sent surveys to current V6 owners asking what they would do when their lease was up on current V6 models and those were the specs on a turbo model. They also mentioned 3-4 MPG more than the current V6. It appears they wanted the response in relation to the Camry keeping the V6. This was in February.

They would need to add a turbo first as I suspect SH-AWD maybe suck too much life out of the car.

Hey, they do really good it looks fast commercials. I think the Acura management team believes the auto business has moved to a strictly image business model. Unfortunatly for them the rest of the sport sedan industry does not agree.

That said except for the over done grill the MMC looks good to me. Like to see one in graphite..

You're not the only one. I like the new grille. After years of the beak, I'm glad it's dead. My other likes I've already stated.

I like the new TLX...definitely better than the 2015 to 2017--maybe because my 04 TL is aging-- haha...unless the new accord will with be better which possible. Honda get much more money for R&D these day

Sorry but the beak on my 16 beats that thing's nose as well as that SPARTA! shield on the 4G. The exhaust outlets makes the rear more attractive though.....just not as nice and tidy as this:

What's sad is that it's designed by the same team behind the NSX (well at least location wise). Waiting 3 years for something that's half-assed is really not a good thing. Especially after calling a big meeting for little pathetic changes. Call me when the engine changes...

For fuck sakes at least add the hybrid tech like on the MDX MMC. Makes no sense that an SUV is sportier than your sports sedan lol. At the very least announce it for next year, get some juices flowing. The MMC TLX cannot be called competitive as Jon said, missing far too many things still. And the ZF9 still blows big time.

These are the wheels on the 2018 base model and looks like no exhaust tips on the base and by the way the tires look the same shitty Good Year tires.

I'm not sure a "tad more hp" makes any difference in terms of sales of this car. While the new styling is debatable, it's more aggressive than the previous version and may turn more heads than another 25 hp will. Most people buying these cars don't care about the difference between 25-35 hp, but like so many expressed on here ... exposed exhaust tips and a "less blah" design may sell a few more cars. This is probably especially true in the market they're probably trying to go after (the younger, entry-level luxury crowd). In either case, they're probably waiting until the next TLX to do anything major, especially with most makes suffering on car sales in this segment. Of course, no telling what they'll bring out then -- many people have been waiting since the 3G TL for something worth buying. lol.

Well everyone, if you want Acura to change, you need to voice your opinions- with your wallets. Don't like their cars? Don't buy them. Otherwise Acura has no reason to change anything.

Honestly, Acura owners should make the switch to Infiniti, if they want turbos and power and AWD and luxury in a sedan, from a Japanese manufacturer. Acura's and Infiniti's reliability both sucks, but at least one of them gives you what you want. The other changes its lipstick and heels and tells you it's all grown up and can where whatever it wants, whenever it wants.

I don't want to sound like an apologist.. but I just wanted to give my perspective. I am quite happy with the direction Acura is going... They have made a clear move - back to they're roots to make exciting cars that are designed for drivers.. Not faux luxury offerings anymore.. Thus the return to Precision Crafted Performance... We have only seen two MMC changes on the MDX and TLX now but I am excited with that I have seen.. I think they are moving in the right direction - if you look at the key changes made to the TLX there are some exciting steps forward I think... Improved stance - Red leather and the black suede interiors (in person the black is gorgeous) the return of exhaust ect.. All the changes on this car are moving it in a sporty/performance direction... Its fair to argue how well that have implemented these new design dynamics for sure.. but at the end of the day its still just an MMC - there are limitations I am sure to how they can inject the design they want into a pre-existing car as well as economic realities.. I am excited to see what they produce with a full model change - a ground up design around their new philosophy and design ques.. and I for one am optimistic after seeing what the yare doing with these two MMC's

I don't think a sport hybrid version is very away at all either..

I know I am in the minority but I like it.
They did most of the upgrades people in this site were asking for..except for powertrain.

I find it funny people are already bashing the upgrades without even seeing in person and driving it.
The bashing comes from current TLX owners, which is understandable. New model comes out, it's human behavior to go into the reveal with a percentage of your mind already made up.
Most people here said "if there is no powertrain upgrade then it sucks...etc" so as soon as you see there is no such upgrade you already go into the reveal biased.
Someone here said that for Acura, looks and technology was more important than a 25HP increase, and frankly...I think that's the reality for most consumers in the demo group they are trying to grab.
With so many options, out there to do such upgrades on your own, I tend to agree.
Im not saying I love this reveal and I will throw money at Acura immediately, but at least they are heading in the right direction; and for some people this model is the destination.

Im 35 years old and I just had a baby. I can't buy a car that will give me 5 years of luxury but he following years will leave me broke for maintenance expenses.
Acura does the trick. I am currently driving a 3G with 245,000 miles on it. It still drives like the first day! (Except for some usual noises here and there); and that's what you get with Acura. You finish paying off the car in 3-4 years and then it's like you get a raise at your job since there is no more car payment.

Ok...don't want to bore you guys with my experiences but this car does exactly what I want in my everyday drive.

I will admit the grill is polarizing. However...there are videos which show different angles and it is growing on me:

I like the update, wasnt expecting a brake/trans/engine change but styling wise I like it. Would prefer them to get rid of the jewel headlights but maybe thats for 2020. Incremental change but change non the less....

I LOVE Infiniti lately. I cannot wait to see the next generation Qx50 but more importantly the next generation QX70(fx). The styling direction is amazing, the engines are also amazing. I also read somewhere above that they are introducing dealer applied tunes? I smell an X5M and Cayenne Turbo killer if that is the case. Good job to them!

WELL SAID!

Very well summed up. The front is growing on me, especially based upon the white and red TLXs pictured on the Canadian website. I had the same change of opinion regarding the new MDX, particularly, when I saw it in person. The A Spec package has tons of changes and enhancements to make this a sportier looking and better handling car for those that want that. To write off the MMC because they apparently haven't increased the HP output seems over the top to me, given the relatively small but vocal percentage that care.

I like the grill overall, it's just that the Acura emblem is way to large for the size of the car itself. I was hoping for something more in the power department and had a pipe dream of a new center stack as well as maybe a more advanced gauge cluster along the lines of Audi or Volvo.

He's not the best presenter, though, no flair, but I don't have any either.

As for me, if I weren't enamored of the Sport Hybrid system (again, trust me, it's that good) and needed a bigger back seat, I'd be getting a TLX A-Spec with SH-AWD. In fact, it could be a good "filler car" to lease while I await the next gen RLX Sport Hybrid in 2019. I definitely like it that the A-Spec requires a change in body panels, in order to avoid that "tacked on" body kit look. Nice job!

Couple of things: the ask for slightly more power is just as important as an act of symbolism as it is for actual performance improvements. (Prior Type S interations were only slightly more powerful than the more pedestrian trims). To wit: it's not a big ask and I don't think many were expecting an M3 competitor.

In terms of the tech and trim add ons in the 5.5G, it's really just Honda's attempt to keep the model (and brand to some degree) somewhat relevant particularly when the model's main competitor comes in the form of the Accord. Clearly the brand is just looking to ride out this model in advance of the next gen based on the 10G Accord. I really hope that model turns out to be a legitimate player rather than an 'also ran'.

Yeah that was the reason why I wasn't impressed. Boring guy.

If it isn't him, somebody else must pay at Acura, maybe the designer who dismissed the boldness of previous designs (pre-2009). It is a bit back with that front-grill, and I am ok with the retained mechanical technologies (excellent NA 2.4L + a well balanced & frugal NA V6....no f*ing turbo - all good).

I think anyone considering the MMC TLX would be wise to wait until the release of the new FMC Accord to compare/contrast.

Thing is its very hard to prove a negative. That sais some things to thing about.

Was a time the TL was selling 6,000 units a month. At the time it had good styling & could run or out run most of the cars that are now way beyond it in actual performance.

In head to head runs My TL 6MT could equal or out run my BMW 330 CI 6MT ZHP which was the quickest 3 series of its era. The TL also lead the sales race over BMW MB Infinity & Lexus.

The 4G's styling killed it loosing 50% of its annual sales although it was still somewhat competitive with some of the usual suspects. Additionally the 4G lost some of its marketing sizzle when it dropped things like Brembo Brakes etc.

Along comes 5G with managements visions of a return to the fight. Its release with slick high performance adds & race car linking promotions. The body removes all the controversial styling points, good move as it actually looks nice. Meanwhile everybody else had gone or is goning through there generational upgrades which included more power. In some cases a lot more power. They are well received & some although losing sedan sales are still holding up against each other with BMW/MB duking it out for #! & Audi/Infiniti doing much better that they did & Lexus moving into the lower prices for them performance market.

Meanwhile the 5G continues to struggle in comparison to what it once was the leader in sales. As I said you can't prove a negative but you can look at what the change factors are. The engine tech is certainly in the HONDA DNA & other performance 4Cylinders are pushing 400/500HP so why did they not look to at least a 330HP V6 to get on even ground with who they seem to want to be & at least be able to back up its TV adds with some muscle rather than pure hype.

One post above brought this to mind. Maybe internally they do just consider themselves a super Accord. So they are doing with an image suppository to get Accord buyers to spend more money as opposed to conquest sales from the other manufactures.

Unlike other posts, overall I believe the new look is attractive. I don't like the grill treatment but I don't like Audi's or Lexus either.
