Speeding ticket

Go figure, TLX isn't a month old and I get my first speeding ticket in 16 years. Too easy to speed in the A Spec.

What's traffic school like now? Last time I did it you sat in a class for 8 hours.

I did pick this up at lunch:

Oo man, that sucks!!! Last time I had to do traffic school, just had to do an online course which wasn't too bad. It was a lot better than sitting through an 8hr class.

Notice you're in the Bay Area. I'd watch out, cops everywhere doing traffic crackdowns especially with many school starting up this week. I bet they'll be going on next week too. Hope that radar helps

How so? It's not like it's more powerful than the non-A Spec TLX's.

That's exactly what they were doing. Cracking down around the school. I was on a back road going around the school traffic.

You're right, not more powerful. Daily driver used to be a MDX. Hard to explain, but in the TLX it doesn't feel like you're going the same speeds like it was in the MDX. I just have to pay more attention.

speeding is speeding regardless whether it's an Aspec or 4 cylinders.

That sucks. I didn't think they could say you couldn't go to traffic school. I'll have to check that out.

I should qualify - I could do traffic school for my particular offense ( about 55 in a 45 zone). But in California there are many violations (really excessive speeding, for example) where traffic school is NOT an option.

Thought I'd just mention this

Invest in a radar detector. I've saved myself thousands of dollars of tickets over the years.

I have gotten three tickets, all in Texas within the first three months of living there. All on an Illinois license. You can't do Traffic School in Texas when you have an Illinois license. Sucks.

I went 25 in a school zone
Blew a yellow light
Did 75 on a 65 mph frontage road

Paid a fortune, but no traffic school

Wow, 25 is the speed limit here for schools. What was the speed limit?

How bad did that affect your insurance?

What the hell is the speed limit in a school zone then? 10-15? In California it's 25, well in my area.

Blew a yellow light? Doesn't yellow mean go faster.

It's 20 "when children are present". This was a while ago and I honestly don't remember what it did to my insurance (new provider and the points are no longer on my record)

Apparently some Austin police officers don't like when you pull into the middle of the intersection while turning left when the light is green. Light changed to yellow, turned red as I was already in the middle of the intersection and the 5-0 got me.

No big. Didn't get a ticket in my Acura and haven't gotten one in my A4 either.

I got a cross walk violation once. The person didn't have both feet on the sidewalk before I drove through the cross walk.

When I first moved to Texas, I got pulled over for doing 76 in a 75. I had just managed to get the damn Chevy Cobalt I was driving to 75 miles per hour and they pulled me over. It turned out they were like "Oh, this is just a warning, and by the way, how long have you had those Illinois plates?". I had been in Austin for 10 days. They basically told me I needed to get new plates before 90 days in Texas. Yay.

Damn, in Texas they don't play.

My parents have a neighbor who moved from, a different state 2 years ago and he's still rolling around with his original state plates.

In addition, he bought a new car a year ago and still has the dealer plates on them

maybe he's not registering the cars....

That seems to happen all the time here. The whole process to get a license is a pain here.

People here avoid putting on their license plates to go through the bridge tolls without paying. That's like $5-$10 per day for some. Got to catch up to them sooner or later, but they don't date new dealer plates like other states.

School starting crackdown? Saw 3 pullovers at the local Brassfield elementary school here yesterday. That accounts for every time I passed the school during the course of the day. Speed limit at the school is 35MPH.

Yea, in California it seems that you can have the dealer plates on forever. Because cops won't know when you bought the car by just looking at it.

I saw that on the news the other day. They showed a video of about 20 police motorcycles heading out for these school starting crackdowns. Tickets for people blocking traffic, making illegal U turns, turning when prohibited, and jay walkers.....
