Took a leisurely drive upstate yesterday, to check out the lakes, & foliage
In Sport mode, & NYS Thruway driving, averaged 36.7, MPG, A/C blasting at 70*; never got close to that with my 2012/TL/SH-AWD
Once I ventured into the hills, & mountains, switched to Sport+, & even so, averaged, 31.5MPG, overall, for the whole 325 mile trip IMPRESSIVE MPG!
BTW: Utilized the LKAS system for the 1st time
Thoughts: At 1st it made me uneasy, because it felt like I was losing steering control, & the steering felt "loose"
After some time, it actually works great; you can literally take your hands off the wheel; (NOT RECOMENDED), & the car controls itself
At that point, a message appears stating that you need to keep your hands on the wheel.
Anyway, had a great summer drive!

Will be taking my 2015 w/adv on an extended drive this summer for about 1200 miles. Glad you had a great time! I compare driving my TLX to flying a plane. Fun, exhilarating and exciting all in one.

It should diminish because of the taller last gear of the V6/SH-AWD models and the increased likelihood of VCM activating.

Not only is it a huge improvement from the 4G TL, I think that it is class leading too!

2.4 TLX? I consistently get 38 on the highway when driving from Greensboro, NC to Durham, NC and back. It's pretty epic.

I can get the trip computer close to 40 on highway trips - my real world MPG usually comes in a touch below the computer. Now that we're into the Summer Gas I'm seeing a slight tic up in the overall MPG's.

The current technology is really something - I've got an old 1992 Mazda pickup truck with a 2.2L engine that cranks out about 85 horses that can't come close to the MPG's my TLX can get.

I've been impressed with my mileage as well so far. According to the trip computer I've gotten close to 35 MPG on a few long trips and there may have been a few aggressive passing maneuvers to keep it below your average. I do the math with all my total MPG and according to the "official" records I'm averaging 25.5 MPG total. I'll take that any day for the normal driving I have to do to and from work.

We've had our TLX SH-AWD for just two months and 1562 miles. The driving overall has been about 60 to 40 percent highway to city. I've carefully logged gas refills and related mileage points. Overall mileage has been 27.33. The car's computer calculated miles have run about one mile higher. The overall reading has probably been brought down by a couple of horrendous traffic jams in our urban area I've experience over the past week. On my longest highway run of about 160 miles the computer's running calculation for that segment reached about 36 MPG running at 70 MPH most of the time with A/C on. It seems clear that even with AWD the TLX gets very good highway mileage. I'm very satisfied so far.

Last tank included trip Charlotte->Arlington, VA and commutes from Arlington to Columbia, MD two days in a row (mix of HWY & city).

Mileage = 39.2

I have found that on-screen stated mileage is typically lower than reality as it appears that it and the stated range is based on 15.5-16gal per tank as opposed to the true volume (17gal).

I just passed 900 kms on this tank = 560 miles and still over 50miles range left. And I havent left Calgary city limits - though to be fair there has been a lot of suburban highway driving, typically 70+mph. I was listening to the radio the other day and there was an ad for the Fiat 500 boasting an "amazing 5.9 ltrs per 100 kms highway". I looked at my trip computer and for the 17 km journey I had done at that point - across town I had been averaging 4.9, or 48 US mpg...admittedly in near perfect conditions, on a warm engine start. The 2015 revised canadian official mileage cycle is so easy to beat

I am looking at some vehicles from competitors like GS350, but the gas mileage is gonna be horrendous compared to the TLX. I hate spending money on gas and don't wanna average 18-20 mpg. It is the principle. I would get a Tesla if they had something under 40k. I looked at the CT200h but think the TLX is a no brainer over it.

The TLX with 3.5L and 9-speed is a fuel economy and power beast. It has so much power, with a perfectly spaced 9-speed and VCM at work, it's effortless to get incredible mileage in day to day driving or just highway cruising. In many ways, it's almost easier than the 2.4L cars in ways, due to the extra power and higher gearing.

Good to see the SH-AWD cars continue to do well in real world just as much too.

I have a SH-AWD advance, with 245/45/18 Continental DWS tires on aftermarket wheels. Just took the car to visit family over the 4th which was my first real mileage test. 180 miles one way, with 4 people in the car, AC on, trunk completely loaded, not much wind, mostly highway and interstate, avg 35.2 mpg. I was amazed. On the way back, car loaded the same, fought a 20 mph head and side wind all the way, still avg 33.1 mpg. I am very happy with this. Now if they can just figure out the 1-2 and 3-4 shifts this is a perfect car.

I just saw a commercial for new Fiat 500X crossover or whatever they call it. It's the commercial where the guy drops the little blue pill into the gas tank....

At the end of the ad, it states that "Gets up to 34 MPG on the Highway"

I just found it funny that it barely gets the same MPG as our cars get almost regularly.

Today I measured mpg on a 20 mile section of highway, very curvy and hilly. I have 19" wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires, at 32 psi cold. AC was set at 70 degrees F and running. I was using the cruise control, set at just under 71 mph. It was about 80 degrees F outside and somewhat humid. I got 37 mpg. Blew me away.

Drive mixed amount of freeway and city.

Have driven in sport since I left the dealer lot.

I am always stuck in Bay Area traffic so my 4 cylinder tech gets 28 mpg.

I suppose that is good since the epa numbers show that for combined.

I am still at 1,600 miles so hopefully I can break it in more.

It's actually not the transmission that gives amazing gas mileage in the city!

The TL has been able to get great gas mileage ever since the 3.2L was launched. The issue was low end power. In order to get high MPG you need to make the required power (to go a certain speed) at as low of an RPM you could, with as little as fuel as possible.

The PGM-FI Honda engines do not produce as much TQ as the newer DI (direct injection). As well the use of a very well tuned 3.5L allows for a good amount of power sub 1500 RPMS.

Third, the SH-AWD system has been vastly improved. The improvements allow for much less parasitic loss. The 2G RL, 2G MDX, 1G RDX and 4G TL SH-AWD lost almost 33% power to the wheels. The typical amount for auto's is 15-20% and is 10-15% for manual. This means that you are increasing the amount of power to the ground that is actually useable. I believe the figures are now in the 22% range.

So more power from the engine + less lost HP from AWD system means the car can make the required power to go 75MPH at 1100 or 1200 RPMS vs the 4G TL which was at nearly 2K going 75MPH. That RPM difference means much less fuel is being used.

Last, but not least, VCM. Variable cylinder management allows the engine to only use 3 or 4 cylinders depending on road conditions. This effectively reduces the engine size to a 1.75L engine (3-cyl) or 2.35L engine with the 4-cyl.

Combine all of this amazing tech and you get a car that can get nearly 38MPG on the highway in AWD conditions and does a 0-60MPH or 0-100KMH in arond 5.6 second.

My to Acura engineers. They really worked hard on the TLX. All I wish for is better engine mounts that isolate vibrations, a Type-S edition and for it to be at my dealer ASAP!

The 9-spd trans only functions to allow better city MPG.

We have completed 2963 mile in our TLX-SH-AWD. Since my last report three weeks ago we have added 1401 miles. Nearly all of this distance involved a roundtrip of about 1200 miles at about 85 to 15 percent highway to city. I was carrying three adult passengers and a very full trunk of luggage. A good bit of the travel ran through Appalachian mountain-type country. I log each gas refill and related mileage points. The MPG for the 1401 miles was 29.42. The drive was made at posted speed levels + 5 MPG, the A/C on all the time, and the IDS set in Sport. Adaptive Cruise Control was on wherever Interstate-type roads made use feasible.

Overall mileage a few days short of three months ownership is 2973. The total mix of driving has been about 80/20 highway/urban, with MPG for the total at 27.33. The car's computer calculated miles displayed for each segment and overall mileage continues to run about one mile MPG higher than that calculated by mileage at refills. So I’m inclined to read the computer estimate and just deduct one MPG from it. The overall mileage reading, as mentioned in my previous post, has probably been brought down by a couple of horrendous traffic jams in our urban area I've experienced in urban driving.

. My Toyota Sienna in R.Mountains made 37mpg.. it's tricky, but totally doable when you have 45 min like driving just downhill... non-reliable (although well sounding) test...

Some, yes. But I have had several instances of getting over 40 MPGs in my TLX. In all of those cases, I was driving a max of 65 on a highway.

I did get 44 MPGs once on a 80 mile trip going 60-65 behind a semi-truck in my 2.4 TLX.

Hate to be a party pooper but I don't consider any mileage reports meaningful unless they cover at least 3 fillups. Which means there are only two posts here that provide any real data. Interesting to note they both report under 30 mpg even though biased towards highway driving. Otoh, even that is great mileage for a powerful V6 AWD vehicle.

First 3 Fuel ups for SH-AWD Adv TLX.

3rd Previous was dealer fuel-up from Gaithersburg MD to Central WV plus several trips in town.

2nd Mainly in town driving.

1st Previous Central WV to Wexford Pa and back to Central WV. 90% Interstate 10% in town and 2 lane roads.

I'm very impressed especially since a lot of my driving include hills and mountains!

Yup. Drove to Los Angeles and back over the weekend. The car is relatively new and has less than 5k miles on mine. Averaged 34 MPG. It was through I5 that includes significant changes in elevation. Had the dog in the back seat and me. Great drive and air running all the time. Took three pit stops for the 90 lb dog to relieve himself.

Its all commute miles, no real hard runs (I miss my old V-TEC days in the TL-S 3.2) . Based on miles, I'm about 45% city/55% highway. So thats about a good combo split. Here in Seattle the limit IS 60 on the highways they are very strict about that, so you also have that +10 over.

Agree also enjoyed the TL, mine was a 2006 6MT.
