Hi all. New to the forum. I recently purchased a 2015 tlx 2.4 and am really enjoying the car.

I have been driving the car thinking something was wrong because everytime I pressed the gas peddle all the way down it didn't seem to engage the lowest possible gear.

Yesterday I realized if I hit the pedal all the way down and then apply a bit more pressure it does in fact kickdown to the most optimal gear. This kind of reminds me of the kick down click on my old BMW minus the click, where you had to push the pedal all the way down then a little more until it clicks to get the most optimal downshift.

I'm just wondering if this is normal on the Acura and if others have noticed the same operation.

Both my 16' and 19' did not have the kick down switch at the bottom of the pedal travel like you will find in German cars and even Mazdas. Acuras throttle is measured from 0%( idle) to 100% (full throttle). That being said, what gear the transmission selects when you go WOT is based on vehicle speed, road grade, and what gear the transmission was in when you requested full throttle. The 8 speed DCT in our cars will often do multiple downshifts during full throttle....think 8th gear to 5th gear to 2nd gear. I think that is what you're feeling. In other words, you push the pedal to the floor, transmission selects a lower gear, then once that gear change is made, it preselects an even lower gear, and finally makes that downshift to the lowest possible gear for the speed your doing.
