Poll: Based on the production model, will you buy a TLX?
Thought this would be an interesting poll...
So the question is: "Based on the production model seen at the NY auto show, will you buy a 2015 TLX?"
Choices are:
1) Yes
2) No
Edit: I guess I can't edit the title of the thread anymore. Mods, please edit the title so there is not double wording of "Poll" in the thread's title. Thanks.

Do I love it? No. Do I hate it? No.
My hope is for a Type-S then I would be very interested. Otherwise when it is time to get out of my Audi I would look at the TLX, but we'll have to see. For what I assume will be a just shy of $50K price for AWD Advance I think the value proposition is there and the styling is not bad. Of course the stock wheels will likely need to go and a good RonJon grille and maybe body kit can transform the car.

Maybe the poll asks a different question.
I would buy a $30k SH-AWD, consider a $45k SH-AWD and would give Acura the middle finger if they start the SH-AWD at $55k.

I saw nothing that would stop me from buying the car. The only thing left was really the pricing. It helps that I didn't really see anything else out there I preferred more (thanks to various issues with the ATS, Q50, and IS), but now with the delay, I don't know ... still deciding if I should wait even more for something I've already waited more than I wanted to wait for. Or even if I can wait longer ...

Interesting poll- but it needs another option:
3. Wait & see how 2015 model works out after test drive
I voted No, but am impressed so many people would vote yes with no pricing information and no test drive. I'll certainly test drive the TLX and make a decision at that point for interest in a 2016/17 TLX-S.
I certainly hasn't ruled the car out at this point but 2015 is a little early for my comfort.

I would never buy a car without driving it first.

without there being a higher hp version/type-s version (something with more aggressive looking body kit/bumpers) odds are it would be a big fat no. Especially with all the other options out there.

Objectively speaking, this car fills every square I want in my next car with no deal breakers. It is far and away better than what I'm driving. If the price is right, and the car drives well (I can't imagine it won't) I'll be a buyer. If they made an I4 Advanced I'd be all over that. Even if they made the I4 Tech with ventilated seats I'd take that. My hesitation is that I'm forced to buy the V6 Advanced and they may price ti too high.
When I look at my options I'm either asked to forego some features I want, or pay much more for the car. So when I do my 'new car calculus' the TLX still comes out on top..... depending on costs of course. There is just some part of my psyche that won't let me spend too much on a car. Too frugal for my own good maybe. Gotta retire someday and I can't live in my car.

People read the poll, it says "interested in buying" not "will buy". Basically the poll asks if the production model is something you would consider based on what we know today. Of course everyone will wait until pricing and a test drive to make final decisions, but the poll basically asks if the car is on your list. As for price, I think we have a good ballpark, starting around $34-36K and topping out around $50K.

a 4CYL in the TLX? nope not having any part of that that is what the ILX is for....

I'm considering the 4cyl TLX as I commute a lot. In any case, there should be a 3rd option to this poll like a "maybe" or "depends" on pricing, test drive, etc. I think a lot of people are disappointed its been visually toned down but quite a few of us are intrigued with the new powertrains. There's still way too many unanswered questions we're waiting for. Start price, performance numbers, real world fuel economy, driving dynamics, etc.

I wanted to gauge an "instantaneous" emotional response on the TLX.
I used to do medical research, and from my experience the simplest of choices and simplest of questions yield the most accurate results. Granted the TLX has not yet been released, but at this time, I think it's interesting to see the reactions out there re: the production model.
For example, when I see a 911 or a RS5, they evoke my emotions and I think to myself "Those are awesome cars, I would be interested in buying it" just by looking at the car. When I see a Buick Regal I think "meh, old man's car, pass."
What type of response does the TLX yield? Tis the question.

Hey wait a minute, my poll got hijacked!
I just noticed now there is a third choice: "Ill wait to answer till more is known about the car"
I did not originally have above choice as one of the choices. Mods, please remove this 3rd choice so we can have a simple "Yes" or "No" response.

I just voted "no". Let me say that I have yet to find the "perfect" car. I view each car as a collection of compromises and you do your best to find the right car with the least amount. At 190 inches it's already far larger than any car this family of two needs. Also, the lack of a manual transmission continues to be a detriment for me. In 30 years+ of driving I've never owned an automatic and while I get closer each year to breaking this, I don't think I'm there yet. Finally, the lack of leather in the base model is probably the final blow.

I'm with Colin on this. I'm certainly curious and would put it on the shopping list, but it's probably too big, and the lack of MT is a serious problem. I'm also concerned about the low power in the I4 version, which I'd be more likely to consider.
And when I say "too big," I mean it literally, because a car that long might not fit comfortably in our small townhouse garage. My old Saab 9-5 Aero was about 188" long, and it barely fit. At the time I vowed to never get a car that long again, and the TLX is longer.

A poll is too easy to conduct but results like this one don't provide any real insights.
That is my opinion and you are entitled to yours.

I'm starting to look at a TLX SH-AWD Advance instead of the RLX Sport Hybrid because Acura is going to make it too difficult to get the RLX; the Sport Hybrid is starting to look like vaporware to me. Too bad, because I love the idea and the tech of the Sport Hybrid even if the look is milquetoasty "stealth wealth".
I would prefer a body kit to make the TLX look like the concept, and some RonJon wheels. Then I'd be happy.
I have decided that this past winter is the last winter I will drive my CTS-V through (even though it was easy and enjoyable with Blizzaks), so looking for a nice AWD car to add to the stable.

It's a shame that Acure has decided to water down their product line!! Look at the new MDX and RL. Bland and boring. The new models ( including the TLX) hide the exhaust, what's up with that?? How can you call this car a performance sedan and have lame muflers that curl under the bumper' ala Toyota Camry... Very dissapointing! Just traded my 2012 SH AWD for a 2014.
#35
^^ That is not a bad move. The TL is a great design and we'll look back in a few years and say that the 4G may have been one of the most under appreciated car design.

The 4G TL is a modern day Edsel. An example of Acura's corporate mentality giving little thought to what the general public wanted or styling that would be appreciated. Those that cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. 4G owners can convince themselves that they have something somewhat unique but that isn't always an enviable place to be.

KeithL.....I should have mentioned that details....you are correct
Boe_d....I know that the styling cue of the 4G has been controversial but some of its biggest haters are now starting to come around to appreciate its design. I am not saying that it will garnish the praise that the 3G did, however, only time will tell how the 4G will be regarded down the road. Keep in mind that the TLX is not out yet. I am feeling that Acura has gone from offering edgy design but have toned down things alot, and almost too much.
For example, the new design of the MDX is too soft in my opinion. Its not a disaster but I feel the previous generation was much more sexier. I am just concerned that we'll see the TLX when it comes out and that its lost its sportiness. Ironically, it seems as if Lexus went from bland designs to more edgy/bold designs while Acura has gone gone the opposite way. For me, having a sports sedan with bland wheels, visible cheap exhaust tips hanging down is disappointing. Add a wood interior and that makes the vehicle even a little too "mature" for me. Again, I am trying to withhold my final comments until I see it in the flesh but so far, as things stand, the TLX will not be in my garage. I could be swayed back with a sexy body kit and a seeing it in the flesh...
I will say one thing though....exterior love or hate, take the 4G on a spin at night and if you don't agree that this car is the sexiest cockpit you've ever seen, then I would to see what you suggest (and I am excluding the driving dynamics which is phenomenal)
