picked up my first car, the 2019 Acura TLX 2.4 Tech pack

After going through intense research and several buyers guides, I picked up the 2019 Acura TLX 2.4L Technology package in April.

This was my first car in USA, and my first car was a Hyundai hatch in India. The car ticked all the boxes i was looking for. It really is a well spec'd car for the technology trim.

I've put 800 miles in already, And the driving experience has been packed with punchy starts, and seemless gear changes. Absolutely love the car.

I did notice a few issues, whihc makes me wonder if someone other-than myself faced. Driving in Auto, weirdly focrces the car to run under 2kRPM. Tries to accelerate hard in this mode . will not give u instant throttle response. I experienced times where it took over 4~6 seconds to give me any throttle response. The 4~6 seconds of no response makes u floor the pedal, upon which, when it does decide to respond then revs the engine making an awkward and unexpected driving fee. This is one of 2 gripes with the ECO mode.

The second issue, is again with the eco mode hanging on to the 2kRPM line. I like to slow my vehicle down by just taking the foot of the pedal when i'm in slow moving traffic in the freeway, This sometimes backfires on me coz it sometimes accelerates by itself a bit when downshifting. Scares the crap out of me. I've noticed it happens in Eco, so, i keep driving around in the Normal mode.

Did anyone face this issue?

PS: I felt stupid when i noticed there was only 1 USB port after buying the car :(. I use android auto a lot and makes me worry for the future, coz the port looks low quality.

Wish me happy miles with my first purchase in USA.

Stop using eco. Otherwise, enjoy!

Friends don't let friends use Eco mode!

Enjoy your new ride!

Thank you!

So far in my first month, I've averaged 27mpg throughout highway rides and Chicago city traffic. I would have loved 30+ mpg, coming from my hatch in India which gave around 36mpg in highways, but this being a sporty sedan, I should compromise to 28mpg combined.

You'll love your fuel consumption on any driving mode up to Sport. I always drive on Sport mode unless it is a really long high way drive (more than 1.5 hours). On those instances, I used the standard mode (I even forgot what the actual mode is called because I seldom use it).

Thats great to know. Thanks for sharing this.

I use all the modes, in fact my default mode is set to Eco, which is usually starting from my driveway or a parking lot, etc. I also use it for high traffic situations, otherwise, I switch to regular for most driving and Sport for more spirited driving. I have never experienced anything remotely close to a 4-6 second throttle response lag, either with my 2016 2.4 Tech or my current 2.4 Elite ASpec. That doesn't sound right at all.

Will get that checked. Thanks for sharing.

It drives great in normal, and I love the overall dynamics and steering input i get while i drive.
