New TLX ads
I saw Tonyware posting a new TLX ad in the other thread, so I went to You Tube and found that there were three new ones which were posted about 10 hours ago:
I found that it's very interesting that while the 2014 MDX ads were beautifully produced and were aiming squarely at female drivers, these appeared to be aiming directly at the 30-40 something male crowd.
What do you think?

I think the ads are a weak teaser. On top of that let''s say I see the ad and and the end shot of the car attracts me then the car comes out and I go to the dealer and say I want the car I saw in the ad and the dealer says, sorry that was a prototype is the toned down car we really have for you. I don't recall seeing other makes tease with shots of a car you can not get.

^ my sentiments exactly.
But you have to admit, the matador ad is priceless He probably thinks "... hang on a second, that is not what I saw at the car show"
We'll know what the matador really saw on April 18th.

Itz JDM y0!
The base version will be more powerful then the A4 2.0 and 320i..
V6 will be more powerful vs the 328i, A4 and whatever C class in the same price range.

I'd say these TLX ads aren't that great but they are different. They don't make a point at all but they at least grab your attention. The first time. Then you don't want to see it again because then it looks stupid.
There are worse car ads, many of them completely SUCK. Like the RLX ones. Look at the latest Toyota commercials on all day with the girl in red. They spend millions on those. Always nonsense to fill time, with no point, why the hell would I buy a Toyota after that? Kind of reminds me of the QUEEN of terrible commercials: Flo from Progressive. I HATE those commercials. How is this effective? Just a way for people to justify their job roles. I know 5yr olds that can make commercials better than that.

The new c class is producing 329hp from the turbocharged v6 I doubt acura would be any where near that.

It's good that they're advertising during March Madness.

No way! The horses = HP. Honda uses 1 real horse in their car while the competition uses bionic super horses filled with turbo's and evil greatness.
Maybe but I like to complain and some tuning potential would be nice. Let's hope it pans out. Acura is now famous for little or no aftermarket support.

My biggest problem is how the TLX has taken over the ESPN march madness website. I have a problem with them flashing the prototype. The better have a production model very close to it once its released.

...Because that's all they got!! I think they realize the buzz the prototype created and that the production TLX won't live up to it....so might as well enjoy the positive way. They haven't had one since 2008....We got give them something

to them, who cares if you hate the ads, When you think of insurance (subconsciously), you know the company Progressive.
Same thing that Geico has done with the stupid Gecko and the "15min will save you 15%"...............................
It doesn't matter if the ad, is dumb or not. It's solidified an association in your mind.

I dunno, maybe I'm weird but there are quite a number of companies that have formed negative associations in my mind because of their advertising and but not because of their product. When there are 2 competitors that are very close in terms of product it is usually advertising and messaging that makes people choose one side or another. Coke/Pepsi? PS4/XB1? Apple/Android? Windows/Mac?
Ask most Android users why they won't buy Apple, it's not so much the product they have a problem with but something about the marketing and the message that doesn't hit home. But the company doesn't care, as long as they get the majority. Yes I can recite the ad or recall details but what's the use if I don't give them my money? I think there's just a better way to advertise than to be annoying, gimmicky, tacky or hyped up.
I know people say bad press is good press etc. and that doing something Kardarshian/Bieber/Miley style is good for them. I don't. All short term hype. Nothing of substance to back it up. When the advertising can align with the product, it will sell itself for the long term. You don't get intelligent people onboard, just the early adopters who want the new/different thing to brag about. They'll eat anything you sell them. Mercedes has a classy style of advertizing and presentation. As if the company has a confidence in it's heritage, reputation and product. They don't have to shout and hype about their newest offering. I find that more attractive and effective.
So if all this hype for the TLX as being so revolutionary and sporty ends up being more for the soft rental car fleet; well sure, many people will know the commercial. Those last 2 ads are actually very good. Hopefully it's not hype though. It will be a expensive joke for them because they will lose tons of sales by disappointing people who are expecting something else. It may end up turning people off from the brand for good, which is something that has been steadily getting worse in the last 5yrs. for Acura.
I myself have done sales in many fields in years past. I found that works best is being sincere, straight and sell something towards the needs of the consumer. People are not stupid and they appreciate when you appeal to their intelligence. I think that's better than "throw anything against the wall and see if it sticks" type of mentality a lot of corporate geniuses try.

Flo needs to talk about the product. I mean does anybody pay attention? What is she talking about half the time? It's like jibberish for the brain dead. Toyota lady at the front desk? What am I watching? haha. Pure stupidity. OH YES I am now gonna run in and buy me a Camry Toyota lady, lol. Come on is it that hard to be creative?
On the other hand I see plenty of clever and hilarious commercials by other companies that are pure genius. And you hear people talk about them because they are memorable in a good way. It is not rocket science. It all depends who they hire to do the commercials and some of them are talented, some are not.

Re: horsepower and car ads.
To paraphrase some old VW ad: its not the horsepower, its how you live it. Thats what the "horses" commercial is trying to say.

Can I just hold out hope that Acura is waiting until NY to release that these are turbo motors?
I can't get excited about a slow "athlete"...please can there be a turbo 2.4? And a turbo 3.5? Can all of that NSX TTV6 R&D stay vaporware?
