Is this the new corporate Grille for Acura?
So this is supposedly the front of the new 2016 Acura ILX... I have to say I'm a bit jealous... do you all think this will trickle down to the rest of the family? What do you think of the look (from what we can see so far)?

I think the shield is still there. It's definitely toned down and angled so that it isn't too obvious.
Well I say it looks better than before. The refreshed ILX with those updates and the 2.4 will be competitive again.
Whoever rushed the ILX out with the pathetic 2.0 should be let go haha

IMO, the ILX 2.0 was clearly the "lesser of two evils" from Acura's POV. On the one hand, I suspect that the ED engine development was affected by the tsunami and possible teething problems with the new transmission. They likely had a choice to ship with what they had to gain maximum leverage from the (then) new Civic chassis, or delay till whatever drivetrain was ready.
Hindsight is always 20/20 but waiting would mean they would have lost out on 2 years of sales for the US made car and possibly extended sales of the expensive Japan made TSX. Also, they would have only had 2-3 years of production on the Civic chassis or they'll have to continue to build the car (on the old chassis) after the new Civic debuts in 2016-17. No good choices here and each would get it's share of criticism regardless of direction.

I like it...note how they're gravitating back to the 3G TL/1G TSX grille. Except for the LEDs, that's a near dead ringer for a 1G TSX grille.

Imo as for the sedans, I think the jewel eyes should be saved for the TLX only. At first glance its already hard enough to distinguish them from each other by looking at the rear until you really take a good look at it.

I also noticed that the logo is slightly bigger than when it is inside of the shield grill. All the front logos in acura sedan line up seemed too small compared other competitions cus they were inside of the grill.

The faux front air vents look really aggressive. Overall, the changes look pretty good.

If that's what it's going to look like, then I like it. Now the engine just needs a bit more pop. They need to get the RDX some upgraded headlights, too. Their DRL's seem like they're in the dark ages.

Better....much better.

...and yet no one commented on the strip of led around the Jewel eyes...That is a first for Acura too.
I think the new ILX will have a more aggressive stance....but I think that the manual is gone for the DCT only and the 2.4

No, no, no! I like the grille the way that it is now! It looks great on my TLX....
This one looks a bit too much like Honda, I'm afraid...

That would be a terrible thing for Acura to do as it struggles to build a brand identity and address its biggest criticism, being too much like Honda, especially with a Civic-based entry-level car. There's only upside to a family resemblance and a list of Acura-exclusive features available on every car they make.

I really hope this picture is official and this really is the new ILX. It looks great!! If Acura plays everything right and doesn't screw up I could see this new ILX jumping up in sales to near the top! If they will put in the 2.4 standard with 8 speed DCT, keep a 6 speed as an option, add some sound insulation, new dual screen layout, and (maybe) an advance trim, also do a bit to change the suspension all while keeping the price in the low to min $30K range, i really could see this as a huge sales hit!

They've been evolving the grill steadily since 2011. Personally, I feel it's fine in its current form, but also agree that continued evolution will broaden the appeal.

On the 2.4, I wasn't referring to the ED 2.4, just the regular 2.4 that comes with the 6MT. I know the TSX was still on sale at the time but if they had already decided to kill the TSX, why not let the ILX have the 2.4 anyway?
I personally don't think Acura will make the Advance package available on the ILX. I'd think very few buyers want to spend that much on an ILX. I know I would take even a base TLX over a Tech ILX for the ride and size alone. I understand some enthusiasts would want 6MT ILX with Advance Package but that crowd is so small for Acura to even consider.

It would also seem to just be a matter of computer programming for most of the stuff - I think all the active safety stuff on the TLX uses the millimeter wave radar and the monocular camera so it's just a matter of putting the programming for the ACC/CMBS and RDMS in (right?). Adding the dimming mirrors, parking sensors, fog lights, remote engine start and puddle lights would seem to be a matter of just installing that stuff.
ALSO - offering the CMBS system (which comes on the Advance package) is part of getting the Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS (that's why CMBS is offered on the CR-V now). So...yeah...either they'll package the CMBS with the Tech package or they will offer an Advance package with it. I think they'll offer an Advance package.
