Like many people living on the Gulf Coast of Texas, I lost everything to the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. My home, contents, and my car were all destroyed. In 2015 I traded in my 2011 TL on a 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan. I really liked the car, but sadly, it did not float. I've replaced the lost car with a 2018 white TLX V6 Advance, so I'm back in the Acura fold. This marks my 3rd Acura in the long list of vehicles I've had. After having the new TLX for a few weeks, I'm surprised how little front seat leg room the car has. While it's fine for me, some of my friends are over six feet, and they have problems getting in the car. Also, I find the voice control not nearly as robust as my old TL. With the TL I was able to control HVAC by voice commands, not so on the new car. Also, weather information is not available like the TL. Unlike earlier TLX's with the 9 speed transmission, mine shifts flawlessly. The car also getting very good fuel mileage. The biggest plus, the grille looks much, much better. Anyway, looking forward to being part of the forum again.

So sorry to hear about your trouble with the flooding - I can't imagine what it must be like to lose all your possessions in a storm like that. Glad you came through it okay and welcome back to the forum!

Welcome back and congratulations on your new 2018 TLX! The TLX can control the HVAC system via voice control. Here's a tutorial. It has taken me a little while to get used to all of the new features of my new 2018 A-Spec as compared to my old 2005 TL, but I am enjoying the car very much.

Sorry to hear about your flooding. I live in the same area as you. We happened to move to a new house on the 14th of Aug and 2 weeks later the old house had 27" of water in it. We were so lucky. Three of my co-workers flooded. I never thought I'd see 52" of rain in one day. The new house didn't flood by about 1.5 feet. So we count our blessings. So much damage in this area and other parts of Houston.

Anyway... congrats on the new car. I gave up on the voice controls long ago. I forgot the car even has it. Amazing that tech like Alexa, Siri, Google, can have such good voice recognition but car manufactures just can't figure it out. I like my 2015 TLX except the transmission is crap. It is a deal breaker for the 2015 MY.

90% of the homes flooded in my city. I had about 2 feet of water in mine. For decades I maintained flood ins, but in recent years the premiums skyrocketed, so I canceled. Big mistake!! I've lived in my house for 37 years and never has there been any sort of flooding in my neighborhood, even with numerous hurricanes over the years. I'm putting my house back together and hope to be home by the end of the year. Living with friends at the moment. Glad your new home did not flood.

So far, the transmission on my '18 has worked very well. No complaints about its performance. My commute to work is mostly highway and I've been getting about 29 MPG. Very pleased with that. I've had a number of people compliment the looks of the new car. All have said that the grille is a 1000% improvement. I really agree. I also like the fact the tailpipes are now exposed. In my three weeks of ownership, I'm happy with the car. Let hope I don't have any transmission issues down the road.

180 of 186 homes in my old subdivision flooded. No one flooded before. Harvey set records in a bad way. We were up in the Memorial area today and they are still recovering up there too. That is almost 40 miles from our old house. Harvey was a bastard.
