If you have 2013 TL shawd, you can not bear with driving and sitting inside of TLX over 15 minutes.

What better choices are in this price range? ... and we are keeping the TL. She is looking for something new.

Modification on TLX?
Why you gave up 14 4G, since it was 14, it should be on mint condition

my opinion, for around 42k, I would go q50 3.0T. overall it is better than TLX. maybe a little bit expensive than TLX. but it is worth

but If you stick with Honda/Acura, and awd is not a must. I would go accord v6 exl or touring. normally you can get it for 5000 dollars less than msrp.

Depends on what youre looking for. Tlx rides much smoother and road noise is much much better compared to the 4g tl. Driving experience, 4g. Looks... well i guess that's debatable.

Almost one year later and 17500mi later, I still love my TLX. It's held up very well and ride quality is as good as it was day one. It's a pretty quick car when I need it to be, it's quiet, it's comfortable, and best of all it gets great gas mileage, especially for a v6.

I'm not sure how the V6 is in the Q50 are, but one thing I appreciate about my 3G TL (which is the same for the 4G and 5G) is the engine smoothness. It just feels so much smoother when you hammer the throttle and you get into the higher rpm. One thing I don't particularly like about my 370z is how much and how harshly the engine vibrates at high rpm. It's just the nature of the design. My friend's 10 year older [2006] G35 Sport was no different. First time I drove it I thought something was wrong with the car

I'm not sure if the driveshaft going to the rear wheels has much to do with it, or what the issue is, but the Nissan's/Infiniti's VQ series V6s vibrate like crazy.

x2. Don't trust stupid whiners who don't even have more than a few minutes of experience with the car,. Mine definitely grew on me. From 'like' to 'love' status.

Hey Taco - what year is your 370?

I've always lusted after one of those. I know they're loud and ride rough but it would just be a weekend car for me.

I really like mine still. It's been (close to) a year and 23,500 km so far. For me, it's the perfect blend of power, comfort, price, value/features, low NVH, driving experience (SH-AWD), and gas mileage.

The Lexus IS350 was my second choice, but the price, AWD system, gas mileage, and hump in the footwell by the gas pedal (and tight seats) tipped me ever so gently in the TLX's direction. The 9AT has been good to me so far, no issues. Infotainment has some things I wish were different, but I mostly focus on driving and not messing with it much. I control the infotainment 95% of the time with the steering wheel controls anyway. And that J35Y6 is such a smooth engine.

Had mine for 25 months now (2.4 tech) and still very happy with it. The car had a couple updates to the DCT which mostly resolved some minor annoyances I had with it. I find the ride to be very nice (much better than my Accord that I traded in) and it's got a very quiet cabin. The ELS sound system sounds great for my music tastes (classic rock and Jazz - if you enjoy bass thumping music you may be dissapointed) and I've had no issues with the infotainment. My only minor nits at this point would be the DCT can still be a bit klunky on occasion - but 95% of the time it's great. The 2.4 has plenty of power - I've taken it on trips of over 1,000 miles and never once felt the need for a bigger engine. It's a great highway cruiser.

I would purchase the same car again.

Good luck with your hunt!

Ditto these comments at 18 months and 20,000 miles. Love taking long trips with LKAS and ACC in a smooth comfortable ride getting 32-37 MPG!

Why do I feel like most people hate on TLX's more than value it on this forum lol. I Love my TLX, mines is over 32,000 miles and runs great. For a N/A V6 im getting 25.0 total mpg and thats including the full bolt on set up I have ( I will post a video soon). Its smooth, quick, and just looks great to me.

had a 13 sorry and the lease was up i should have bought it. i actually got the TLX cheaper than my 4G. they probably did that to get rid of the early stick cars. on my TLX i changed the crank pulley. made a stick cold air duct and added sprint booster. the thing flys now but not the same as the 4G

I picked up a 2016 Nismo. To be honest, I don't find the ride harsh at all. It's firm and sporty, but never bone jarring. The engine shake though.. that's something else. Surprised Nissan didn't do something more about it.

Back to Acura- Been driving the TL now that it's cold out... love that smooth engine

From "like" to "love"? it could be "get used to" but really love it.

if you owned 4G TL at least 12-14 models, very least possibility, you would "love" TLX. maybe getting old quickly. the quietness is the most appreciating thing with 225 tires

I drove TLX v6 more than 2 weeks totally. I am owning 12 4G, I can tell the disappointing on TLX. I was trying to "like" it on every drive. the headlight is beautiful, but it gives me the feeling as same or very similar as an Accord. maybe it is my feeling and opinion.

no one saying vq37 is smoother than j35. but other than smoothness comparison to j35, it is one of the best v6 engines. my feeling on q50 is far better than TLX in overall.

What did you have before your TLX? maybe that would be the reason you love it. maybe easier to get used to it.

Agreed. Some people don't need to own a car that vibrates while cruising, bucks while shifting, and delays when trying to accelerate to have an opinion. Happy that some have "learned to love" their cars, but others clearly have not.

This thread is not about the 4G. It is asking for feedback from current owners .I let your first post slide but since you posted again I need to say let's keep this thread on track. Thanks.

Many BMWs and Audis, my first Acura or asian lux entry level. I was going to get another Bimmer but the last one's repairs over 8 years were over the roof (try $8K) and the Acura lease term was too good to pass.

It indeed took me a while to evolve from 'like' to 'love'. The TLX is a placid sedan in Eco, Normal and even Sport modes. Put it in Sport+ and it reveals itself as an entertaining and capable car; I now use it daily as well as paddles. No regret whatsoever.

Really liking my car. Spent a month in a 4G while my TLX was in the shop, and I'd take the TLX 10/10 times if offered the keys to both.

The only complaint I had were the crappy tires which I addressed by getting PSS tires for summer use. I also wish the interface of the navi, and info-tainment were a little more modern. The software needs a revamp to match the other tech the car comes with.

Other than that, I am loving the power, handling, ride, economy, and features of the car. I did just have my first warranty repair today. Took it in for an A1 service (oil change), and to have the drivers side puddle light replaced since it failed. The part wasn't in stock, so I need to return next week to install it. Other than that, its been nothing but routine service over the last 2 years. I did have 2 software transmission updates within the 1st year along with routine service that have my transmission shifting nice, and smooth.

Zero regrets here, and I'm loving the car.

Me too. I have the 2015 V6 FWD and think it's great. There has been a road to get here, however. Trans replacement, motor mount replacement, wheel bearing, etc. I still love the car, and I am coming from a '12 TL Advance. This car rides better, more comfortable, faster, quieter, and I think, looks better. I have no problems with the handling either.

I love my '15 V6 FWD Tech. Smooth, quiet, and comfortable. The car is very light on its feet and the ELS sound system in it is fantastic. I think the car is a great value. I know it's not luxury, but I really like the new Civic Touring, I wish Acura could come out with sedans as successful as Honda's. 4G SH-AWD TL has a much stiffer and sportier ride, it appeals to different drivers. If she wants something that rides smooth and not too sporty, I'd definitely recommend the TLX. Good luck with the search!

Yes right.
But thread owner has 4G shawd, then his wife is looking at TLX. 4G would be involved easily. comparison between previous gen and current gen is intuitive.

I have over 35K miles on my TLX, and I love it still. It is as elegant as a Maserati in its look, and it performs and handles better than my TL Type S did, with far superior gas mileage. If you buy one, definitely want to replace the tires and put real performance tires on there, I put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S-3s on there and it rides like it is on rails, although like with the Type S, you feel every bump. I had the 9AT replaced (mine was a Nov 14 build) and it is smooth as butter and downshifts as fast as I could want. The only complaint I have now is that there is not enough of a spoiler in front of the sunroof so when it is open you really get buffeted. Tough on the wife's coiffure. ;-)

You can't really blame the factory tires. They are generally junk tires when you buy a new car, unless it's specifically a performance car. It's annoying, but most new cars don't come with anything to brag about, when it comes to the tires.

Although costly, they're easy enough to replace. Plus, that gives a new car owner permission to burn through the factory tires as quickly as possible. You know, for safety reasons.

Regarding the tires - as a Normal Joe I find them to be just fine. They're quiet enough and help yield decent MPG's (I suspect those two reasons play heavily in Acura's decision on what tire to outfit the car with) and for regular (non Grand Prix) driving they're fine. Rain and snow performance are okay as well. If you're looking for performance then by all means a tire swap is in order - but for regular daily driving I find them to be plenty acceptable.

I forgot to mention the stereo. I have an advance, and for the stock stereo that wasn't a several thousand dollar stand alone option, I am extremely impressed with the stereo even now 2 years later.

Regarding the Tires, My AWD came with Goodyear Eagle LS2's. On tire rack it is the second lowest if not lowest rated tire iin its segment. Does fine in the daily grind, and amazingly I think they are just fine in the white stuff, but when pushed in the dry, they are pretty lacking. Since they aren't cheap, I don't understand how they ended up on the car.

I've had my 2015 BWP TLX 2.4 Tech for about 6 months now, and I absolutely love it. The interior of the car is my favorite part and I think it (the Tech or Adv interior) is far and above better looking then other cars in its class, especially at the TLX price point. Just about everyone who's ridden with me has complimented the interior of the car. People online complain about the look of the vehicle, but I think its a sharp looking car. I always turned my head when a TLX drove by, and I still do even now that I own one . Coming from a smaller 4 cylinder Mazda, the 2.4 has plenty of 'go' for me and Sport mode is a blast. I fill up a lot less then I used too and I've gotten up to 38 mpgs (I'm sure its not totally accurate) on the highway. Also, now that its getting chillier in the mornings in the Midwest, the remote start is heavenly.

If you can't tell, I really like this vehicle!

Well some people don't think so.

....
Infiniti Q50
Another also-ran within the European-dominated compact luxury sedan segment, Consumer Reports gives the Q50 an overall score of 57 and a reliability rating of minus-64. CR liked the compact Q50 luxury sedan’s acceleration, outward visibility and roomy interior, but criticized its unrefined power-train, fuel economy, ride and handling, controls, and front seat comfort. It scored below average in the JD Power Design/Performance study, and is expected to hold onto just 46% of its original value after three years and 32% after five

I have a 4th G and I am very happy. My buddy has a TLX fully loaded and it's an amazing car. I believe there is a difference between 4th and 5th G.
Certain things are better in the 4th G and others in 5th. For example, I like the seats in 4th. the quality ride in 5th is much superior.

Test drive and do some reach. Good luck.

Another happy owner here! I came from a 10 yr. old TL so the TLX was a big upgrade for me as far as the tech features go. I bought my first TLX in 2014 when they first came out. Yeah I know you're supposed wait to buy a new model, but my TL had 240,000 (trouble-free, still had the original brakes!) miles on it and needed some things replaced, so I needed a new car asap. I was driving my TLX 150 miles a day, mostly on the highway, getting over 40 MPG! I had my TLX for almost a year and had about 25,000 miles on it when it was totaled in an accident. This car kept me so safe I walked away with only bruises from the seat belt! I was so happy with the car I bought the exact same TLX to replace it. I've now had my second car over a year and driven another 16,000 miles. I've never had any problems with either TLX, and if I needed another car I wouldn't hesitate to buy another TLX.

Of course, who is actually paying $42K for a TLX? My 2015 TLX SH-AWD Tech was less than that drive out, including 7% state tax and all fees. Most people like me paid mid to upper $30Ks, and you're hard pressed to find anything with similar features in that range.

You want a stripped down Q50 RWD, sure you can get for roughly the same. You want AWD and the tech, for Infiniti you're up in the upper $40Ks to low $50Ks.

Just to close the loop. We settled on the Accord, V6 Touring. Got a great price and the car really rides very nice! Thanks for all the feedback folks...
