Good lease deal?

Got these numbers to lease a 2018 Tlx A-Spec (FWD) and wanted to see if it's a good deal. I've never leased so I'm skeptical. Thanks for any help or tips you can provide.

MSRP $43,765.00
Discounted Sale Price $38279
Money Factor .00088 = approx 2% APR With Approved top level Credit
Residual 56% at 12,000 miles buyout $24,508.40 plus tax
Payment 507+ tax = $543 per month
Term 36 months
$595 Acura Lease acquisition fee
$64.00 Fl Lease Surcharge title fee
$2.00 FL Lemon Law fee
$100 Est Tag fee
$797 Acura Dealer Prep (I backed into this already with the overall discount)
Turn in fee is $350 if you don't buy it and you get for free a $750 waiver of damages included as well as free GAP insurance.

When reviewing the numbers it seems like my total if I purchase the lease at the end is at least $45,771 after adding payments and the buyout. I am not sure if that includes all the extra fees at the bottom. How is he offering me a discounted sale price of $38,279 if it adds up to that number? I feel like there are some clever tricks being used and if the extra fees aren't built in, that's another $1908, bringing the total OTD to $47,679. If so, this is not a deal at all. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't really comment on the overall price, as our Canadian prices are higher. However, if I have read your information correctly, the total fees you are paying adds up to $1,458 which seems okay to me. I would normally see about $1900 in fees in Canada, although I usually don't pay all of that as a long time customer. However those fees include the Protection Package which includes a trunk liner, a full set of Acura good quality rubber mats, and rear mud guards N/A for Aspec). Does the $797 Acura dealer prep include anything like that?

Assuming your monthly payment of $507 before tax does not include any of the $1458 fees, and assuming your negotiated price of $38,279 does not include tax (and no downpayment or trade) you are leasing on a total of $13,771 (38,279 - 24,508 residual).

Your payment should be $382.53 per month. Your financing cost should be your (negotiated price of 38,279 + Residual Value of $24,508 ) X Money Factor .00088 = $55.65
That would leave a payment before taxes of $438.18, not the $507 you mention.

Working backwards, if the money factor is indeed .00088 (about 2.1%APR), then it seems they are using a price of $40,700. With a $24,508 residual, that yields a payment of $450 plus a financing fee of $57.00. That gives you the $507 payment before taxes.

It would seem they are charging you another $2421 for the selling price, assuming again that they have not added the fees to the lease. If they have, they are still about 1K high from what they quoted you.

And as noted by mapleloaf, the numbers don't add up.

Thank you for your assistance as I was sensing something was off. There is no down payment with these numbers and they came directly from the dealer. I will call him out and see what happens.

This is the quote I've got from a dealer in NJ.
2018 TLX A-SPEC with Technology Package
  • MSRP: $43,750
  • $404 Per Month for 36 Months
  • $354 Per Month for 36 Months - One Pay Lease*
10 K miles per year. No fees or taxes included. In NJ it would add about $50 per month so the total should be close to $455 per month with all fees and taxes included.
In our area dealer competition is high and we never have to deal with any bogus fees like training, prep, etc. Most charge $400 doc fee though.
Note that one pay lease can save a lot of money if the number they gave me is correct.

2018 TLX A-SPEC with Technology Package and SH-AWD
  • MSRP: $45,750
  • $428 Per Month for 36 Months
  • $375 Per Month for 36 Months - One Pay Lease*

BTW I was agonizing for at least two weeks trying to decide between AWD A-Spec for $480 a month and BMW 340 xDrive for $499.
I liked the Acura (space, looks, safety options) more than the BMW but the BMW had a much better power train, heated steering wheel; head-up display and, honestly, a better image.

Eventually went with the BMW.
Wife did not want another Acura in our garage and in some sense the BMW with its $58,785 MSRP represented a better value than the $45,750 Acura.

I'm confused: $428 per month, & $480 per month
which is it? or does the $480 include tax?

$480 includes NJ tax of 6.875% and ALL dealer and motor vehicle fees ($400 for doc plus $315 registration plus some other bogus fee that I do not remember).

Try Pohanka and Rosenthal in Chantilly, VA and Gaithersburg respectively - both are ~20 miles or so outside of DC. I've heard they both ship cars out to NY, FL, CO, etc. and it's still cheaper than those local dealerships. There are a ton of Acura dealerships in the DC area, Pohanka sells the most Acuras in the country since like 2004 or something. If you want referrals, I have emails for one contact at each location - both are very easy to work with and pretty straightforward. Just leased a 2018 TLX i4 Tech for my parents at Rosenthal, $399 out of pocket, $399/mo -- 6.35% tax, acquisition, doc fees, registration, etc, all rolled in. Could've probably pushed down lower to around $375 or so, but the decision to lease was made literally that morning, and they wanted to take delivery that afternoon, so a pretty big time crunch. If you want sales people contact, DM me. Pohanka I believe has a $599 or $699 doc fee (max is $699 by VA law) Rosenthal is $295 (max is $300 by MD law). I'd suggest just doing first month out of pocket and rolling everything else into the lease - protects you in case car is lost/stolen/totalled, and makes comparisons easy (i.e. some dealerships have higher doc fees, some mark of the MF for profit, some have dealer fees)
