from rear quarter panel it looks exactly like a ILX, especially with that pointy shape of the rear windows. i don't see this thing outsold Lexus IS unless Acura price them really well.

I'm going to have to check this out in person. It doesn't really move me much from looking at the exterior, but then I kind of expected that from the spy shots. The interior looks good in pics, but nothing great. I'm a bit let-down by the wheels and the front end. A lot of "blah" in the vehicle - more than I expected. But again, this is just from viewing the unveiling event and online pics for the most part - it may look better in person.

The thing I've been angry most about with Acura through this wait is that they kept hyping up the prototype even in the tv ads and then we get this. Yeah, we knew it was going to happen, but why?

On a side note, it's hilarious to see all the varying opinions about this car online.

^^ I am with you.....I can't recall seeing a production car coming out with all 3 sets of rims being hideous (to me). Make me crave the Russian/Chinese production rims *lol*

The good thing is I now know that I am not getting the TLX for a few years until it gets its MMC or a Type-S with wheels that won't make me gag. So now the REAL car shopping begins as I am not keeping my TL for the next 2-3 years

Now if the delaership throws a free set of accessory wheels, that would be different.

The interior appears quite nice and although I am not a wood interior kind of guy, I could make an exception but I need to see more pics.

At the moment...I am passing but not saying I couldn't change my mind after seeing the accessories (like body kit) and the car in the flesh...although man those wheels are ugly!
Weather, my guess is that the up level cars, read the SH-AWD, will have a fancier set of wheels (the 2012 Advance wheels are pretty nice!). I would also suspect that being the sportier offering, it will also delete the "wood" interior in favor of some sort of metal.

In addition, what I have heard from my dealer is that the V6 versions will offer a $3-4k package/body kit that looks a lot like the prototype. Emphasis on the heard.

To be honest, I was underwhelmed by the press conference. Very little excitement. However, in spite of the lacking presentation, I still like the car and the long list of tech and options (per Corey's post) that it will offer. I can still see myself in a 2016 V6 SH-AWD Advance, BWP/Ebony.

I will actually disagree. I think the main buyer will be fine with this car. As I have said before Acura need to follow the Lexus theme, release a Type-S side by side and sport it up and you would be surprised how many more they sell.

I just showed a friend the pics of the TLX. She's not a car person. Her response : "it looks an awful lot like your current car".

treblig...You may be correct but you think there will be 4 sets of rims? We have already seen 3 and all really turn me off but maybe you are correct.

I have no problem with buying a body kit as I have done that on my TSX and TL in the past. I just don't want to have buy rims on top of that. Overall the car is still decent and not a total flop and to many, it will appeal to them. For me, I was hoping for a bit more and the interior wood trim is not my cup of tea at all. It is nice to have the option of ordering it for those who want it but forcing the wood trim to everyone is sort of bizarre (if that is indeed the case)....The RLX and MDX have wood interior, did they need to put it in the TLX too?

The earliest I could see myself considering a TLX is in about 3 years from now....either a sport variant if they come out with one or when the MMC addresses the issues I hae with the TLX. I can see me being the equivalent of a 3G who just shunned the 4G, except I'll shunt the 5G.

I am still keep a small crack in the door in case I decide to reconsider but I have a few car options that I want to consider now...

Well, that would be assuming that all three sets shown so far are US market wheels. I can't imagine that any wheel that we have seen thus far would be the SH-AWD Advance offering. Once the dealers have them and brochures are available, we'll know.

Overall I think Acura achieved their goal of creating a car that has broader appeal than the TSX and current TL. Remember, they are not trying to please Acurazine, could probably never do that, but they are in the business of selling cars. So this new TLX has styling that is not offensive (well except for Boe_d ) and will have broader appeal than the early 4G and looks sportier than the TSX. I think they succeeded in that. Even the wheels look nicer than the spy shots. The powertrain has decent fuel efficiency numbers which is more and more important to buyers and to Acura to meet CAFE standards. Car shoppers normally look at this, I think they succeeded here too. The FE numbers could perhaps be better with a turbo engine but that is just not an option. The numbers look good to me. Acceleration is likely to be sufficient for the vast majority of buyers regardless of what the HP number is. Many buyers won't even know this number. If you are shopping for a muscle car you are probably not in a Honda or Acura lot in the first place. The feature list has something for just about everyone. From entry level to Advanced driver aids to SH-AWD. That is a pretty broad range. The interior looks nice but that is something you need to sit in and feel. It looks like there are some hard plastics in some of those pictures, that concerns me. I like the attention they have paid to sound deadening. Road feel is TBD but how bad do you think it could be? Again, the vast majority of buyers are likely to be impressed when they test drive this against whatever N year old car they are currently driving.

Sure you can cross shop with a Audi or 5 series etc etc, but at what cost? And there in lies the last piece of the puzzle is the value question. How much Acura? If they price it aggressively they can sell a ton and get off to a good start. If they try to go upscale like the RLX it will get off to a bad start. I hope they don't do this.

Of course I need to test drive both cars and know the price, but my biggest gripe is the lack of an I4 Advanced Trim. That would have been nearly a slam dunk for me.

I noticed the press release says... "The chassis features a newly designed four-wheel independent suspension system – McPherson Strut front and multi-link rear – with revised geometry and new Amplitude Reactive Dampers for improved ride comfort and handling performance." I don't really care one way or the other on DWB, but I'm concerned that these dampers may be the same as the faulty RDX and ILX. If they have not fixed these dampers I won't buy this car.

In a little over a month we'll be able to test drive these cars but I think Acura hit all their objectives as far as I can see. Hopefully they hit the value mark for me too.

I do not like how you can see into the speakers in the A pillar and rear doors. I hate seeing the side of a speaker, showing its ugly 'protection' grills that keep form the cover bowing in too much. Ugh. The cheapness of this car is grossing me out.

-The Base wheels
-The silver trim in the interior will scratch all to hell
-The speaker grill/ covers
-The side skirts have an ugly line going down the middle of them (looks like plastic melted and fused together as a top half and bottom half)
-The hidden exhausts
-The lack of DWB suspension
-The lousy color combos
-The re-use of the MDX's engine (290HP on paper is hideous just to read.. a Chevy Traverse makes that much power.. even a Kia 3.3 in the new Sedona makes 276HP!
-The plastic engine covers
-The laughable, Si like HP increase on the 2.4L (Previous TSX had 201, the 'new' 2.4L in the TLX makes 206HP... 2012 Si's made 201, now they make 205.. though the TL 2.4L really goes up from Accords 185, the reviewers will still claim it as only a 5HP increase over the TSX it replaces..)
-Overall car looks strained in a way

Jesus can they do anything right???

Looking forward and/or holding out for TLX-S-SH-AWD-6MT. Until then, I can and will continue to drive my 4G unless another brand beats Acura to the "greater than 300hp, mid to large size sedan with AWD or Rwd, MT, and under $45K well-equipped" product release. I've got my eye on Chevy, Dodge, and Buick...

Rocket_man....I am worried about those reactive dampers as well but in your case, I wouldn't be worried as you live in Texas. Besides, that could be how Acura engineers solved the "its normal" rear noise problem....By adding more insulation in the vehicle

It's laughable to me that anyone who is driving the absolutely hideous looking 4G TL, could come on here and flame the 5G. I agree Acura could've done more with the TLX... and probably should have... but if you are driving one of the ugliest cars known to man why would you think your opinion matters?!

Well, for arguments sake, that applies to all of us who are in the multiple threads crapping on the lack of body kit, hidden exhaust, ugly rims, cheap wood interior, etc. etc., blah, blah.

We're all guilty of the same thing.

If this was a BMW or Audi, wouldn't you get a similar response?

That's the beauty of these cars, each new model is just an iteration of the previous one, which makes the design process that much more efficient. Hopefully Acura will lose the beak and come up with a beautiful design standard to base future products on.

I'm sure it'll sell pretty well for Acura. I like the interior. I just wish it had the 20" wheels and other aesthetics of the prototype. Other than that 90% of what we seen on the prototype (body-wise) is on the production car, minus the obvious things. I'm pretty sure they'll offer a kit for it, and I'd like to see what the accessory wheels look like.

Overall I like it.

Not Much Different Than Prototype. Looking Forward To All Color Combos. Not Sure About Interior. I Enjoy My 4G, Not Sure If This Interior Is Much Of An Upgrade. As Most Of My Driving Is Short, In Town Trips The 4 Cyl Is Somewhat Appealing. Should Be Worth A Drive Or 2

Finally, a two position driver memory seat / mirrors is standard. At least my wife and my daughter can enjoy the fruits of our labor while I try to drive my 02 Civic to the ground so I can inherit the Accord.

Granted, your opinion was NO WHERE near as inflammatory as his, but someone could jump on you for saying it's not a stunning design.

What I'm saying is that he has his opinion, You have yours. Half of the stuff that (almost) everyone posts on here is inflammatory. Of course you'll defend 4G TL's. You own one. Same way I'll defend my 3G if you say it's a dated/crap/old/bullshit design. But we're all entitled to our individual opinions, whether or not they're popular or not is a completely different thing.

^^ ...having an opinion is perfectly acceptable but stating that why would anyone care what I say because i drive the ugliest car was not necessary.

I am not saying that people agree with my view or opinion on the TLX, but I don't insult people because my views differ from others.

Some of you 4G guys are lucky to be able to wait for a MMC or Type-S. Us 3G guys are left kinda stranded. I need something new within the next year. I doubt they will release anything serious within the next year save for the accessories/bodykit.

UNLESS.......Infiniti confirms and drops the hammer on this now!

Maybe that will give them motivation to get something with balls out there.

Do you see me defending anything? and where did i say my opinion matters?

When i made the post you refer to was when the prototype was revealed,i still haven't said anything negative.

And yes,we can all get along which means that sometimes we have to agree to disagree.

If you look in the Photograph Gallery,i posted pictures of the prototype and stated then that the prototype is visually stunning.

This is Acurazine and someone suggests that what people drive looks fugly. Seriously, he couldn't have chosen a worst forum to crap on. I would provide a less offensive comment though because it's great to be nice to other people, even on an anonymous forum such as this.

The 4G's look is growing on me (futuristic) but better MPG is something to be desired. I like the TLX styling more. The TLX interior seems to be very similar to the 4G's; there is nothing necessarily wrong with that though.

I don't feel the same way. Although my rents bought a 4G, it's something that I definitely can't find the beauty in. (i may have been so turned off by the monstrosity of the '09-'11 beak that I didn't give it a chance afterward)
I'll agree with you I find the styling of the TLX more aesthetically appealing. It seems as though they've stepped back to the 3G (likely because it's sales figures were so high), and started with a fresh drawing board from that point.

I think the interior looks like the natural evolution to the 4G's interior, (which, I agree, there's nothing wrong with).

it's because they're so loved, that we're so critical.

It is never about what is said, everyone has an opinion and is free to express it. It is, more often than not, about how it's said. You can say "I don't like it" but you don't have to say "I don't like it and you suck".

And I agree, we certainly can Just all get along.

Not too hip on the interior. The two level center stacked dash reminds me of an Accord.

It sounds picky but I can't stand exposed cup holders... Especially trimmed in chrome. Reminds me of a Buick.
