That was the problem. It was not the difference, it was a set of new wheels. If they charged only the difference, I might have bit.

I mentioned my E90 for its handling, certainly not for its powertrain. For the record it was a Canadian-only (although also offered in Asia/Africa) 323i with a detuned engine from the Euro 325i which had a 2.5L, unlike the American 325i that had a 3.0L. I was ok with my manual 2005 E46 184HP (0-60 in 6.7-7s) so I figured that it would be fine... wrong. Great sound though, with the BMW performance exhaust I had installed lated. It sounded at least like 400HP, lol.

Ford Fusions have been a fairly successful model for Ford and the Fusion Sport might have great stats.

I am generally open to all brands as I just love cars. But I will never purchase a Ford for personal reasons. Every Ford I have driven has that annoying start up chime and the turn signals make a loud click clack sound. Sounds like I'm driving something made by Fisher-Price. Yeah I know they are trivial but owning a car long term that annoyed me is not something I would do.

My old roommate's focus was like that. Just so much noise. The chime was infuriating and made no sense. I don't much care for Ford. I'd probably go with a current Chevy Impala over anything from Ford.

if you're open to tuning, you can tune the chimes out

Battled one last night

cruisin' in the fast lane at 70mph with dense traffic. speed limit in this particular stretch of freeway is 60mph.
see a car behind me with headlights i've never seen before, or didn't recognize.
dense traffic, so ALL lanes have cars.
he's not on my ass, but I guess he thinks i'm going to slow and changes lanes to the right to pass me........
it's dense traffic, so there's a slower car in the lane he chose and has to come back behind me.
and i'm still doing 70mph trailing 1 car length behind someone...i'm thinking to myself..."what a fucking idiot. there's no space to cut in front of me...and trying to pass me on the right!? wtf kind idiot is this!?!?!?"

as traffic opens up in front of me, I signal to the right and put the car into 3rd gear at 65-67mph
with his lane now open, he gets on it.
as he matches my drivers door, i goose it.

as we came upon cars ahead of us, I stab the brakes heavily to signal the end of the race
we were tied, neck to neck

2006 6MT Acura TL. ~3300lbs @240hp to the front wheels.
Pretty much the same scenario with the Ford SUVs.. will hang with me neck to neck, cheek to cheek

Did you cut weight from your TL? According to edmunds, they are ~3500 in weight.

That is for 6mt. Minor weight differences if you do or don't have navi. Same for sport tires.

Are you sure it wasn't your new Alfa Rome Giulia Quadrifoglio you were going to let me borrow next time I was in Houston?

Is your TL modded or something? 240whp is more like 9g Accord V6 6MT range.

fully catless
estimating 50-100lbs weight loss. (very unscientific, I know)
dyno'd 241 to the front wheels, max torque of 215.

as stated; super happy my car can keep up with the faster turbo cars.
thinking about throwing nitrous at her to finally inch out and surpass the Fords.

So if your car will sustain such a burden, it will be no issue for a TLX V6, right?

Cool! that's a pretty good power to weight ratio! What exactly did you race against, sorry I might have missed it...

I have not driven the Fusion Sport, but I remember a road test that the performance did not match the HP/Torque. Very surprised that it was not quicker.

oh yaa, that makes perfect sense man. The Fusion Sport traps at 101mph in the 1/4 mile. A stock 3g TL 6MT was 98-99mph. With a bit of weight reduction and some exhaust mods I can definitely see how your TL was keeping up with it.

I wonder if ford is severely limiting the turbo in the first gear or two. With the cars being FWD based, they worry about torque steer and IMO FWD transverse transaxles can't handle as much power as longitudinal transmissions. So maybe they retard power to protect components/stop handling issues. For example the MKX with the same engine has 340hp and 385lb/ft, it weighs 4400 pounds and yet the 0-60 is still in the mid 6 second range. That's really odd to me.

Hmmm it's FWD based but it's still AWD....hahaha kinda dumb to make it AWD and give it 380lbft of torque then limit the power output eh..hahaha

I think its main issue is the weight. It's like 4100lb man....

Right! It's so odd that they wouldn't think to have the AWD come on off the line and allow the powertrain to do its' thing. I understand it is 4100 pounds, but that is still 380 lb/ft coming up at I'm guessing 1200-1500 rpm, so barely off idle. It really should be a sub 5 second 0-60. The only explanation is either a super shitty gearbox or severe power retardation in first and possibly second gear.

Anyone know what the 60 foot time is for the car? That would suggest if they are pulling timing or not on launch.

I notice these Ford Ecoboost powered cars are not very fast given their power ratings. The Focus RS isn't much faster than a 305hp STI or 290hp VW Golf R. The Focus ST with 252hp isn't much, if any faster tahn the 9g Civic Si or VW GTI.

I've looked at a couple articles, couldn't find it.

This is odd given that the ecoboost equipped cars tend to drive fairly well with very little lag IME. I drove a1.6T escape rental for a good 2 months, it obviously was not fast or quick, but it really was zippy and I had to check under the hood to make sure it was the 1.6T and not the 2.0T. But there is something inherently wrong in the power delivery, sort of like the Kia and Hyundai cars. They are slower than they should be.

I think it's the power delivery issue. It seems like the new Honda Civic 1.5T and Si also have similar issue. In the Civic case, it's like Honda purposely built in turbo lag in order to improve fuel economy. Luckily Hondata has a fix for that.

For the Ecoboost, I also understand that it's prone to heatsoak. The ECU tends to reduce power unless the condition is favorable.

That's my opinion too. I mean 380lb/ft at 1200-1500 rpm is crazy.
