Does the TLX have power folding mirrors?

Do you know if the Canadian mirrors are the same dimensions as the usdm mirrors, or are they completely different sizes like the 4G TL candian vs usdm mirrors?

Good question. I'd expect that they "could" be interchangeable but not sure what other electrical parts would be needed to connect them, if that is what you are asking

Is it really only on the Canadian model? The Handbook does not suggest that it is not on all models, and seems to be good on distinguishing features between models and countries.

There is a button to the left of the mirror controls. Press it down, locks in place and the mirrors fold in. Press it again to release and the mirrors fold out.

Are you talking about USDM model (tech and advance package) have the power folding mirrors or only those packages on the Canadian models?

There is a thread on here where someone added the CDN spec MDX power folding mirrors to his USDM spec MDX. It was not a simple Plug and Play swap because the wiring for the switch to fold the mirrors in did not exist on the USDM spec MDX. The wiring harness is also different, so he had to hook up his own simple circuit to make the switch enable and then disable after a certain amount of time.

I can't find the thread right now - but if you search for it, you can probably find it in the MDX threads.

I suspect the TLX would be similar.

Hmm. The Handbook has an * indicating "not available on all models". It is not featured in the US specs brochure, so appears that it is only on the Canadian Tech and Elite models.

Here is the link to the thread where someone bought the CDN spec side view mirrors for his MDX and hooked them up. It seems like it was more effort than it is worth - but its up to you.

I'm in Canada and have the V6 Tech model (just picked it up Wednesday morning). It has folding mirrors.

why on earth would they not offer this on US models? this is the type of weird inconsistencies from Acura that just make absolutely no sense.

Yes, this one of the many inconsistencies. Different interior options between Canada and US, voice navigation entry by full address in the US but letter by letter in Canada, headed steering wheel in Canada only, and this list goes on.

Yeah, the heated steering absence in the U.S. Markets is perplexing to say the least. I mean, I understand that parts of Canada has bitter winters, but are they saying that Minnesota/North Dakota winters are 'mild' in comparison?

No kidding! I spent 4 years in Spokane WA. Those winters were downright fierce! 30-50 below with wind chills, block heaters are a necessity, opening removing radiator cap to look and see frozen/slushy coolant.

I hear Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, etc are as bad or worse than Spokane.

Acura should offer the Canadian version to anyone that wants it, period. I live in the south but het, it hits the low 20's every few years or so... I might want the heated steering wheel option too.

The folding mirrors? WTF? Should be standard on all Acuras!

It's like the color combo's that are offered in Canada and not here.. For example, 3-4 weeks ago me and my wife were considering an MDX and she wanted WDP with ebony interior..

She had the parchment interior on her 2008 MDX and the Grey interior on her 2005 MDX and didn't want either of those colors with WDP..

Guess what, WDP /Ebony interior on the MDX is only available in Canada.. WTF makes no sense.. Do Americans not like black interiors on their SUV's??

Ive never needed a block heater in those temps.

But i do agree that Acura is with who gets what. There is no reason US models shouldnt get the options that the Canadian version gets. This isnt new either, way back with the 2nd gen for what ever reason the canadian version had a low washer fluid warning light that the US version didnt (amongst other things).

I also was very let down with the TLX not having folding mirrors. I took it for granted that it did until when the dealer was walking me through the car and I asked about them. D'oh!

This was back between '78-'82. Maybe the coolant has gotten better? There were times it was so cold the car would barely turn over. I had a '70 Nova, then a '72 Challenger at that time. It was great to walk out and start an already warmed car.

Yes two key fobs in Canada. Ventilated seats are only on the Elite model here.

For all intents and purposes, Elite in Canada is the same as Advanced in USA. So no real difference in terms of ventilated seats.

Actually for what we get on the TLX the prices for the Canadian model seem slightly to our advantage at this time considering the conversion rate. There have been times in the past when we were being taken to the cleaners, but the market is much more competitive now.

Why the need for power folding mirrors?

Honestly even in the south a headed steering wheel would be nice, I only moved to Atlanta a few months ago and before that I lived in Dallas. We had a few nights last winter get down into the low single digits, between 3 and 4 degrees I believe and with wind chills down to -5. So considering the south even has times getting that cold Acura is clearly delusional to not offer a heated wheel in the US!! I already take Acura seriously as a Luxury brand, but until they start offering such things here it may be difficult to convince others.

Primarily tight parking spaces and parking lots where other vehicles or even pedestrian make contact and damage them. The folding may reduce the protrusion by a couple of inches (I have not actually measured this).

I know the mirrors on the 3G TL could be folded manually but that was not very convenient.

Ok. Well I've never had that happen. I'm thinking if a car is close enough to clip my mirror they are way too close period and then either I or them wouldn't be able to open the car door. I could see a pedestrian bumping it I guess but again, I've never had it happen.

I park in a tight spot, so I was counting on power folding mirrors. However it doesn't seem like the mirrors extend the full width of the car, so it's a moot point.

Most of the that was battery efficiency/cca, and modern fuel injection. OIL helps too. I can tell the crank over speed difference between dino and syn in the TL on cold startups (-10 to -20 deg, not including windchill)

Block heaters around here are a Most women would drive off with them still plugged in

Heated steering wheel, I have never once even turned my heated seats on in my TL even when we had temps -20 deg without windchill.

In the States, when you install the Remote Start as an Accessory option- you get 2 FOBs with it.

So, now I have 4 FOBs in total (2 original; 2 with remote start capability)!
