First long road trip with great gas mileage!

I just took my 4 month old TLX SH-AWD Elite A Spec for a long trip between Edmonton and Calgary this past weekend and I was thoroughly impressed by the gas mileage!

From Edmonton to Calgary, I averaged about 7.6 liters per 100 km (about 30.9 mpg) and then from Calgary back to Edmonton, I averaged about 6.6 liters per 100 km (about 35.6 mpg)! The temperature was below freezing from Edmonton to Calgary and it was around freezing from Calgary to Edmonton. Another factor that affected the gas mileage was the fact that it was overall going up the altitude from Edmonton to Calgary, hence worse gas mileage that way.

I thought that these were really impressive numbers, given that it's a V6 with SH-AWD and I got snow tires on!

Very happy with this wonderful car :-)

Did Acura make a TLX hybrid?

No, and actually, even with my predominantly city driving, and horrendous winter condition this year, my average in-town gas mileage is at worst 10.5 litres/100km, which is just over 22 mpg (US gallons). I think that is pretty remarkable!

Average Speed? I am usually good for 32MPH in the low 70MPH's average for 300+ miles with long runs at 90MPH. City 22.7MPG @ 38MPH for 1000 miles.

Speed is important because it effects mileage greatly. On a two way trip up hill & down you can just average the numbers to counter work going up & light load coming down.

So you did well, 30+MPG anywhere for a 3.5L engine is very nice.

I made a trip from Montauk to my home near Amityville and I got 40.8mpg on the way back over 85.3 miles going about 60-65 almost the whole way.

I get get 40+ MPG in my V6 TLX at 70 - 75MPH highway cruising, but, around town, I'm only getting about 17MPG.

I took a road trip in my 2015 V6 TLX and averaged 40 MPG from NJ to GA. On the Way back I did about 38 MPG.

lol, I agree pictures show the real story. I was pushing 35mpg+ on the turnpike up to NYC and went through a boatload of traffic and this is after another 330+ miles of non-highway miles what I end up with. Granted a FWD A-Spec will put up much better.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...9cec342d36.jpg

Yeah pictures are good. My trips also like most include city driving getting to the highway & city driving at the end of the run to where we are staying. The front & back of the trip are what beat up your averages for both MPH & MPG.

Local Raleigh, NC traffic. That said with 369 horsepower at the wheels the numbers are pretty good.

My speed was about 110 km/h so it's about 70 mph on the highway. So it's about the same as your highway speed :-)

I forgot to tell people that from Calgary to Edmonton, it's going to lower altitude while it's the other way round from Edmonton to Calgary. That really affects the fuel consumption for sure!

Next trip will have to start & stop the counter on the highway rather then door to door. A lot of those runs are in the 85/90MPH range be interesting to see what the numbers are.

I finally got a long drive, about 300 miles distance on my 16' TLX i4. Driving condition was in the rain, avg temp was 45-50F, and driving up and down the mountain slope. My avg speed was 80 mph, and I get 31 mpg. My local drive is about 23 mpg lol.
