Now that the 2017 Acura TLX has been announced, I'm very disappointed that Acurawatch is not offered on lower trims, only bundled with a $3k+ Advance package on 6 cylinder models. With no Acurawatch on 2017 TLX, I'm all but decided on a 2016 Accord Touring.

The 6 cylinder Advance package are nice, but they are considerably more expensive than 4 cylinder Tech TLX or Accors Touring, and you have to live with the ZF tranny.

If there are really good deals to be had on either TLX Advance package, I might be tempted, but not sure the deals are good enough. The Advance is like $10k more than Accord Touring MSRP.

With that said, what are the very best deals that can be had right now for 2016 Advance either FWD or SHAWD. I've been told SHAWD is worth the extra $2k, but not sure if it's worth the hit up front and in fuel economy, as I will be driving a lot. My primary purpose of the vehicle is long commute (~90 min each way), mostly on flat highway with moderate traffic between 30-75 mph.

What are the best deals to be had on 2016 TLX Advance?

Best deals will come when lots of plenty of 17s on them and the dealers want to unload the 16s.

Also depends on where you are located. In Canada, with the current rates and offers, including loyalty discounts, you would pay about $60 more per month on a 5 year finance for a TLX 2.4 Tech vs a 2.4 Honda Touring. In my case, I got a significantly better deal when I moved from my 3.5 SH-AWD to the 2.4 Tech and pay the same on my lease than if I had leased the Accord touring. It really is a question of what is the most important to you. IMHO, I don't think you should move up to a 3.5 Advance to get the entire Acura Watch suite, UNLESS you also want the additional power and SH-AWD. That being said, in comparing the two 2.4 models:

- Superior power and acceleration of the 2.4 TLX, including the pairing with the 8 speed DCT. This is an excellent highway cruiser as well as city vehicle
- Both cars ride well and are quiet, but TLX wins this battle
- Marginally better fuel economy of the Accord with the CVT. Just a note that the real world fuel economy of my 2.4 has been excellent and it comes very close to my 180 hp CVT Altima, which is slightly superior, in terms of rating, to the Accord.
- Regular vs periodic use of premium gas
- ACC, CMB, and RDM on the Accord. These are nice to haves, but LKA tends to make RDM somewhat redundant.
- Superior ELS sound system on the TLX
- More premium interior finishing on the TLX
- Overall look - subjective
- Superior driving dynamics on the TLX. The PAWS is a very nice feature when cornering, and the IDS gives you lots of options
- Heated steering wheel on the TLX (Canada)
- Apple Car play on the Accord - nice to have, but I prefer having the Hard Drive to store CDs, given that this is the highest quality of sound (And I can borrow and record CDs. With Navigation, I wouldn't use the other features much.

You really can't go wrong with any choice. I would add that if you do like the 3.5 SH-AWD for it's power and handling, the 9 speed is considerably improved from the 2015 model. I drove one extensively, but decided that I preferred the 2.4 8 DCT for the very quick shifts, and price, of course. I also drove the 2016 Accord extensively, before making my choice.

Do NOT worry about fuel economy with the SH-AWD. It's not a problem at all. I regularly get 35-38.5 MPG on the highway at those speeds, as long as I drive on cruise control (adaptive cruise is very nice). I get slightly lower (about 34 MPG) if I'm not using cruise and get more aggressive. The car is rated at 31 MPG, but you'll always beat that after the break-in period is over. Don't let fuel economy be the reason you don't get SH-AWD.

Here's what I say you should do:

1. Find out if you like the I4 or V6 better. If you like the I4 better, get that. The 8DCT is very nice. Or get the Accord Touring if you really need the stuff that's included in Acurawatch.
2. If you like the V6 better, get the SH-AWD TLX with the advance package if you can manage the price. The auto-controlled seats are a very nice feature (auto heat/vent), and it comes with all the Acurawatch features. If you can't afford it/can't find a good deal on it but need those features get the Accord touring.

I would recommend you throw all 3 of those cars into the corners hard (TLX I4, TLX V6 SH-AWD, and the Accord Touring). I did while I was shopping around, and my opinion was that the Accord was really sloppy in the corners compared to either TLX. The I4 TLX was more 'nimble', but if you know how to drive SH-AWD (ie: you need to have your foot on the gas during a corner), then the SH-AWD TLX was the better handler. The TLX chassis is substantially more buttoned-down than the Accord's.

Mileage may vary. You'll be lucky to get 20mpg on the highways of Southern California, San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta, etc.

huh? In Atlanta I get 22-23 MPG around town and easily get around 30 on highway even with temps in the 90s. I have SH-AWD.

Around town I get 17-19mpg. No miracle here. However as a disclaimer my commute can be often less than 15 minutes. Our Civic 4-cyl. had no problem matching the city EPA rating for this commute, not this TLX.

This is crazy as most of the dealers in my area still have new 2015 models available and crap load of 2016's. Has this happened before where you could walk to an Acura dealer and have an option to buy a new car spanning 3 years? i do not think this is a good sign for Acura.

Lol take a look at Volvo... Some dealerships had 2015, 2015.5 (always seemed stupid to me), 2016, and 2017 S60's in stock when I leased mine (at a steal!)

best deals are right now while you can still get the exact color and trim. dealerships are already getting 2k+ worth off dealer cash and youre not gonna get more by waiting.

According to cars.com their are 438 2015 TLX listed nationwide. So each dealer has like 1.5 left.

And there are no 2017s listed. It's not clear when dealers will start receiving them.

The 2016 sell down will take awhile.

Respectfully disagree - as 2017s hit lots, dealers will move 2016's to get rid of them. You might not get the exact color combo and trim, but I'd bet the deals in October or later will be better than now. The "best" deal I've gotten (aside from Pohanka) was about $5k off sticker... Nothing crazy -- Pohanka was closer to $7k off sticker. Last year around September, Pohanka knocked things down another thousand from the prices they quoted me this month.

A lot of dealerships don't seem to have 2015's (In the CT area at least) but a few have a ton (ie Pohanka has like 20+ a bunch of them being marked as used now instead of new)

58 of them are within 50 miles where I live. I guess there might be tops 8-10 dealers within the same radius, so that puts it between 6-7 left 2015 per dealer, but i know for fact that some have more than that. I am not sure why cars.com does not list 2017 models yet as some dealers in my area do in fact show 2017 models and they even include VIN numbers for them. Could it be that they are in transit?

I'd assume so -- My Pohanka sales person said that they won't receive 2017s until mid August, at the earliest. But I haven't talked to him since last month, I ended up leasing a more expensive Volvo for less than the TLX

I think now might be a good time as I just closed a deal for $26k after $1750 edmunds coupon and $750 "dealer flex cash". I emailed 13 dealerships relentlessly for weeks to get them down that low. Cannot wait to pick it up this weekend!

I was trying to kill time today so I went down to my local Acura dealer to see the 17 MDX. While I was there I saw a 16 SH-AWD TLX Tech with the 19" accessory wheels for $37,500; down from $45,xxx. Also saw another 16 TLX with a $4,000 off tag hanging from the mirror. This dealership already has 17 TLX's in stock and so does the other Acura dealership so I'm guessing they're trying to clear out all the 16's.

Makes sense as of the 12 dealer's I contacted over the past few weeks, they call got down to $28K very quickly from a $32.6K sticker. on the base 4 cyl model.

They are practically giving these things away. I wasn't too fond of the TLX when I test drove it originally and hadn't even considered buying one before, but the prices are too good to resist. Just bought a base 4-cyl 2016 TLX to use as my work/commuter car for basically 25.5k plus tax (27.7 OTD). I was quoted 27.5k and got 500 off for recently graduating from college and 1750 off from edmunds.com. I'm not even sure you could get a Honda Accord with leather for that good of a price lol.

yes, I was very surprised at how low the price is on the 4 cyl Base. I was expecting 29-30K when I first started researching the prices, and they kept going down and down. My friend purchased an Accord 2015 4 cyl EX-L last year..., which stickered at around 29-30K, for 25K.... so to get the TLX for just about the same price or a bit higher.... amazing.

Man you guys are lucky down the the States (I'm from Canada). I picked up a 2016 TLX I4 A-SPEC Tech a month ago. I got a good deal, but damn not as good as what I'm seeing in this thread

Wow, this is just crazy. When my friend was shopping for a new car, he got quoted a bit under $27.5k for base TLX and I though at that time that it was a great deal, but $25.5 takes it to the new level. I thin at these price points, the base TLX is a great value and sensible alternative compared to regular cars like Accord or Camry etc.

My deal was similar, with the $1,750 edmunds incentive (minimum $10K financing, 24 months) and $1,000 flex cash (which doesn't seem to be advertised or documented anywhere), in addition to a middling 7.5% discount off of a SH-AWD advance - to be picked up next week. I didn't email a bunch of Acura dealers, but did get quotes from two of them, and also ran a two-pass competitive bidding process among several DIFFERENT makes/models, with adjustments in dollars for the things we liked and did not like. My car is a dealer trade situation - but the local dealer waved their usual add-on fee for that, as well, and were really nice about everything. They noted, particularly, that the flex cash discount was only available for delivery by the end of August.

There are great deals out there on the 4 cyl tech models. I received a quote today for $31,700. Since I have a $1,750 Edmunds coupon, the final cost would be under $30,000.

I am not sure where you are located, so I bet regional markets have something to do with this, but I emailed several dealers in my area and the best I got on 2016 TLX with Tech was $30584. the best for the base TLX was $27777. Both quotes include destination charge. These quotes plus Edmund's rebate could easily bring the TECH version below $29000 or $26k for the BASE which is still not as good as other deals that people got here, but definitely better what you are being quoted.

I am in So Cal. The dealer mentioned there was an additional $700 discount if I used Acura financing, but I do not know if that is combinable with the Edmunds offer.

I am probably going to pass, and wait for a 2018 TLX with (hopefully) more cutting edge safety features available on the 4 cyl models. I have been reading good things about adaptive cruise control, and do not really want to spring for a new car without it, especially since it is now available on many less expensive cars. My 04 TSX is running strong, and should easily make it to next year.
