Agreed. Looks off. I think if they did each tip a few more inches inside so they arent under the reflectors maybe.
Also perfectly round was a poor idea. Id rather see almost any other shape. Be it the dual round tip that touch each other from BMW, the lexus looking tips that are angled to fit the bumper perfectly, or hell even the older TL tips as mentioned.
The work does look good and 100% better than any of the ILXs or TLXs people have put mufflers on.
The car actually looks weird with exhaust tips. I never thought I'd say that. However, I think with a redesigned rear bumper ala that blue one that was shown at some show (I forget which, it was really nice), would look good as a Type-S for 2017 or as the MMC refresh.
Nicely done, but I don't really like the look. I just don't get what all the hype is about the TLX not having exposed exhaust. To be honest, I never noticed it was missing until I saw it pointed out on this forum.

Human conditioning and preconception that a car should have exposed exhausts. Always makes me cringe when someone says the TLX is not selling as much because there are no exposed exhausts.
My personal opinion- the big deal is...if Acura is marketing the TLX as a red carpet athlete, and using its that kind of thrill campaign then make it at least look the part. The TLX with the photoshopped TLS exhaust is down right sexy.
I was not happy when Acura changed the exhaust from the 09-11 TL SHAWD to have the same base exhaust tips. It's just boring.
All that being said, I am a huge fan of the TLX's overall design compared to the bloated abomination that preceded it.
Acura will add exposed tips to the car to counter complaints about the way the current car looks. Owners with the new cars in lighter colours will then complain that the rear bumper is covered in soot from the GDI exhaust lol.
The car looks great from the rear. Adding the twin exhausts as pictured above spoils the look, IMHO. I would agree that if you were put in visible exhausts, the flat quads of the TL would be a decent way to go.

I'm not really biased either way but I don't know why the lack of exhaust tips would keep someone from buying a car. I think the car looks fine without tips and the car that Galpin modified looks great as well. I will agree that the Galpin version looks sportier but that has more to do with the aggressive bodywork and less to do with the tips.

Agree, If people were not asking for them the dealer would not be offering them. Acura wants to advertise its car as a hot ride then it should at least try to look like one.

I think it's an improvement over no exposed exhaust tips but it's not the best possible execution that's for sure. I think it looks identical to the last generation Lexus IS350's:

The pipes on the IS are angled and don't hang down as far. They look like they were integrated into the car design. The pair they glued on to the TLX look like an afterthought.
It's not perfect, but it is a definite improvement. That's not the 2016 rear bumper is it? You can see the bumper extend backwards toward the muffler... How did the dealrship add that on. Or it just a bondo special?
They look cheap and tacky because they're straight cut and not slanted like most Honda and Acura tips. (Aside from 2G TL and RSX). If they used the following it would be different:

I wish Acura didn't tease us with those wheels, absolutely love those. Maybe they are saving this look for the TLX-S to come?
I didn't noticed the minus of exhaust pipes until I came on here and read about it. I don't think this should make or break a deal to purchase this car. Don't see the big deal.

I'm for the exposed tips even though I do agree that its too round and sits a bit low. Reminds me of the tips from the 2nd gen TL. If I'm looking to buy a sport sedan, which the TLX is advertised to be, exposed tips would be required.
I think if you are going to advertise the car as a sports sedan then it should look sporty. I will be buying another car next year but I haven't considered the TLX much because I don't like that it doesn't show exhaust and I don't like the wheels. If I bought one I would only consider the SH-AWD advance. If next year they announce they will offer a type-s and it looks good then I would wait on that.

I see your point and can agree to a certain extent. I used to have an MDX advance and liked it. Then I drove a MB ML400 and wow, what a difference. The mdx is still a nice car to me but after driving the ML400 I bought it and haven't thought about an MDX since. Yes, it cost me about 15k more than the Acura but it feels and looks better to me.
Btw, I'm an Acura fan, not a hater. I've owned an RSX, 2 TLs, and 2 MDXs. And like I said, when I add a car in about a year I would be willing to wait on TLX type s if I thought it would actually happen.
