I'm not a fan of the C pillar area- but other than that, wow, that is a good looking car. Inside AND outside. I actually went back, to look through the photos again.

Hyundai and Kia don't have much brand cache compared to everyone else, but, consider where they're coming from. Hyundai soiled it's reputation completely when it first came to North America. It had to rebuild from that. And they did, by offering lots, having nice styles (finally.. it took awhile), being reliable and being cheaper than everyone else. But now they are focusing on the brand cache of the business. They seem to have mapped out their course, right since they came back to North America. Did it take a long time? Not really. I remember in around 2001, people laughing at POS Hyundais. 16 years later, it's a different story. And now they are putting out favourable cars that will ultimately build their brand cache, so long as the cars continue to be good... and get better, gen after gen.
I really like the G70. I have to give them credit for building a car that looks nothing like anything else. The rear third somewhat resembles a BMW but not really. The tail lights somewhat resemble the old civic or even C-class but still unique with the wavy design on the inner trunk area. Otherwise this thing looks incredibly unique and I LOVE that they maintained current Genesis design language but somehow made it look more youthful and less executive and that's not always easy. I vastly prefer the G70 to the stinger.

In terms of the interior, I'm not sure how I feel. I hate the use of all those painted silver plastic buttons. That's is super old school Hyundai. I mean I'm not sure where they plan to price the G70 in relation to the G80 though so maybe it's not fair to want aluminum vs Acura spec silver painted plastic. The diamond stitching on the seats is awesome though and I like the way the dash seems driver oriented (kinda like old school Saab). I really hope to get a chance to drive/ride in one at some point. Also yes Acura should be VERY afraid. RWD, turbo V6's, class leading technology and quality. Acura gives us what again? Warmed over Accords and civics on fwd platforms?

Don't think it's announced yet, but:

G80 starts at $55k CAD for V8 AWD
G80 Sport starts at $62k CAD for V6T AWD

My gut feeling tells me it'll start at 45K for base engine, up to 60K with V6T fully loaded. Can't be too high or else the Germans will become targets again due to brand image.

Blessed with a stiff structure, the Stinger likes to turn, and it rewards your decision to take it to a German megatrack with precise path control and neutral handling that pushes into understeer none too early."

Well, certainly for the rear-drive Stinger, which can be steered with the throttle through its mechanically locking limited-slip differential and will, we’re assured, make a fabulous drift car once the electronic stability control is switched off.

Think you will also get different numbers with the rear wheel biased AWD & RWD with the Stinger.
Yea I read that. I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and draw conclusions when US spec version is out for testing.

I think, broadly speaking, that it looks kind of Jaguar-ish - the XE specifically.

The Stinger is a bit too much "boy racer" looks wise - which I would have loved 20 years ago - but not so much now. The G70, on the other hand, looks pretty classy IMO. All of which is a moot point for me as my next ride will likely be a sport ute - maybe next gen RDX. Or I may eventually get a new MX5 or used Cayman for a Summer car and an off-lease CRV for Winter and call it a day!

The Canadian trim Stinger GT in loaded guise comes out to $52,000. I see this thing being in the $45,000-52,000 CAN range.

I first was thinking 45k-55k, but there are indeed some differences between the Stinger and G70. The major one being a lexicon sound system vs Harmon Kardon. Pretty sure the G70 will come standard with better quality leather, and who knows what other things. Interesting times for car shopping though!

I'm also very curious about the RDX FMC, it'll give us a clear idea of what Acura will do to save it's image and increase sales.

We have a Genesis R-Spec 6MT coupe for a while now. Good solid car with no issues. Being driven full time by a 22 year old so its being worked out. Last winter the car did a Raleigh to Houston to Vale to Chicago to Vermont to Boston & back to Raleigh Snow boarding road trip. Never missed a beat.

Would steal the seats at the drop of a hat.

I think, bottom line, the Stinger will probably be more fun to drive but a lot less comfortable and the TLX will be better fit and finish.

Will.Fail.

Who wants a $50K "Kia",.... it is not for nothing that Hyundai felt the need for Genesis.
