As the lease on my 15 i4 Rech is coming due in the next few months, I went for a test drive of the 18 Camry XSE I4.

While I do not like the interior, especially the dash layout, I must say, the steering and handling of this car was superb. Alas, the TLX felt much quicker.

Anyone else compare the 2?

Question. Can you get a Camry V6 for the price of a TLX 2.4? Unsure of the outcome, but that would influence my choice. I wouldn't have opted for that route with the previous gen but who knows... about the new 2018... I saw a dark gray one with red leather, in person it looked great.

Toyota is offering 0.0% APR for 60 months and the top of the line V6 XSE starts around $35K so comparable for sure.

Between those two, considering your comments about hating the Camry interior, I would go (stay) TLX if that's the only other consideration. The engine is nice (some morons here will drop their pants for a V6 for whatever reason), but you have to live in that car every day, so you best like the interior.

I’d probably rent one for a weekend and see if I could live with the interior before making a change. 6 months left in my lease, can’t wait to be done. Who knows what’s next.

If the interior doesn't blow me away, I don't buy a car. When I was buying my last car, one sit down and look around in the Lexus IS, for instance, disqualified it.

Once it passes that hurdle, it still has to look good on the outside and I have to love how it drives. But if I can't stand the surroundings, no way I'm buying the car.

What an uber-dumb comment. Some people prefer to have V6 as they typically feel better than a Civic-like I4 and in this case, it translates in 100HP more. Icing on the cake, it costs LESS in gas to run than both TLX 2.4 and A4Q (Annual gas cost of $1500 for the Camry V6 - thanks to the use of regular vs $1700 for both others)

Espicially in higher trims with the dash surrounded by leather, it looks better in person IMO.

You're comparing two FWD to an AWD sedan. The fact that the A4 uses as much gas as both while having AWD and better acceleration is a win. And a major slap to the 2.4 TLX.

I am a less is better more functionally oriented person when it comes to dash layouts. The TOYOTA is just way to busy for me & would not buy the car.

Besides being ugly and not particularly well though out from an ergonomic perspective, the controls in the Camry are also cheap feeling.

And red leather in a Camry?

I like the shape of the Camry center console (the red "leather on one side, etc), but the stereo part of the dash would be an instant deal breaker for me. It's hideously basic. 100% Toyota like.

In terms of driving pleasure, the TLX wins hands down. In terms of looks.. well.. beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so it really is a toss up. I'll give the upper hand to the TLX interior, though. While the Camry sounds good on paper, it still is and forever will be a Camry.

Even the Toyota steering wheel looks cheap. And I'm not even entirely sure why. The TLX wheel is much nicer.

Regarding the Camry interior.....yikes! Retired pimp car? But then I'm not a fan of red interior in most cars. The lower passenger dash leather piece has never grabbed me, but hey, apparently some don't like two screens!
