I have 2017 TLX and the brake calipers are starting to rust after 6 months. Is this normal? With the open wheels it isn't very good to see rusted brake calipers.
any suggestions? Will acura do anything about it? My 2005 TL was much better with the black Brembo's.
I don't believe that surface rust, on an undercarriage part is a cause for a warranty replacment. I realize that we all want new looking calipers, but if the caliper is still working correctly and doing it's job, then I can't see a problem. If Acura replaced every surface rusted part under the car they would be out of business. If you are concerned about the rust on the calipers, you can purchase some caliper paint and paint them.
Just disappointing that after spending $40k for a new car with nice open wheels that it the calipers are starting to rust and look old. My previous TL with stock black Brembos still looked good after 12 years!
You'd think the Acura would move forward, not take a step backwards....
My 15 TLX had rusted calibers after less than a year. Took well over 4 years for my 12 TL to even start to show some rust. If they would paint the calibers, would be a cheap fix (that I'd pay) and would make car look sportier too.
If it really bothers you, I would suggest that at your next tire rotation or sooner, get a wire brush and clean up the calipers, then get some (color of your choice) caliper paint from Ebay, Amazon or wherever (about $45) and paint your calipers.
