Aspec vs A4

Given then history of the type S for the 3G and now the aspec version of the TLX...
what makes you certain the next iteration of a "performance" sedan would be anything more than marginally more powerful than the base model?
I think they will have 2 tiers...which seems to be what they are going for. Gas mileage and performance. That's it...one will cater to either of those crowds.

Gotcha...S
yeah, I agree with that model for Infiniti since that's literally what they have already done.
I thought you were alluding to the fact that Acura would follow suit with their use of 4 or 6 cylinders and/or forced induction.
I would be shocked though...
I'm speaking only on what the type s/aspec would be over a base...not that they won't perform well or have adequate power.
It would be cool to have ONE real model that makes substantially more...a V6 turbo that is tuned to really rip shit up...like the Q69S red edition...co-worker of mine has that and it
is tits.

If using Audi's logic, then the RLX should have 3.0T SHAWD as base, and SHSHAWD as the type-S upgraded model. No way will they keep old V6 just to keep base FWD version. Having a 3.0T FWD is just plain dumb and dangerous, whereas 2.0T is too cheap to have any sales. Going forward Acura should only have turbos in all models.

again, this makes no sense. Think about it.
2.4L = 1.5T, not 2.0T.
3.5L = 2.0T, not 3.0T
3.0T is stand alone.
youre making the assumption that every previous V6 is now becoming a Type S. which means the price of the V6 TLX available now, will jump significantly in price. Highly doubt it.
So again... proof?
About the ONLY way I could possibly see the 1.5T going into an American Acura would be if they made a "hot hatch" based on the Fit, w/SHAWD and other features added to upscale it to "Acura-ness" over the standard Fit. It could make for a cute little rally car also

This seems to be the way most manufacturers are going across the board as new powertrains are introduced. Lop off a few cylinders, add forced induction, and you get the power you had with potentially more fuel economy, but the tradeoff is cost & complexity both initially, and down the road.
Just like manuals, it is just where we are inevitably headed; Turbo 4's instead of V6s, and FI 6 cylinders instead of V8's.
Having said that, you'll have to pry the shift knob of my V8 out of my cold dead fingers. I am hanging on to it for as long as is possible.

I prefer a larger, simpler technological approach. You can say that everybody's doing it, that's not a good reason and untrue. At least Toyota stays with a cold head with this nonsense. I don't mind having a turbo (I owned a few), I just don't want to pay more for them, especially when the fuel economy is not really that great.

No, it would be absurd to try and sell a TLX with a 1.5T - it totally makes sense for the new "base" TLX to use the 2.0T engine. The only possible way it could make sense to mate a 1.5 engine with an Acura would be a compact sedan or compact crossover, possibly in Chinese or European markets, maybe Japan. Not US. 2.0T should be the minimum base engine in a brand calling itself "Precision Crafted Performance".

Maybe he is right and Acura goes the way of Infiniti and makes what is the current V6, a low boost 3.0T, and makes a Type S as a high boost 3.0T... but I'm not yet convinced of Acura following that approach. Why? Well, Honda could have done the same with the Accord, by dropping a low boost version of the CTR engine into the Accord 2.0T and called it a day, but they changed the 2.0T completely in the Accord.
That, and Acura would be shooting itself in the foot, kind of. Why? Well, they seem to be all about saving $$$, so why put two extra cylinders into the car, keep the same displacement (3.0T), and produce a low boost engine that makes the same power as the 2.0T? That doesn't seem to fit Acura's M.O. Of penny pinching. I guess time will tell... but again... it doesn't fit Acura's M.O.

3.0T isn't coming to Acura, two words "Earth Dreams"
Would be nice to have a 3.0T but doubt it'll happen.

Agree. All the large SUV's are upping power. Mine weighs 3 tons with a 300HP/365FTLBS engine. Its direct replacement is now a bit lighter by 300lbs with 375HP/470FTLBS standard. The ability to move a lot of stuff, max load 9000lbs in both trucks, takes power.

3.0L was mentioned in the leaked patent docs.

Wut? Have you been living in the boonies in the last 4 months? I don't remember the displacement volume ever being mentioned, but it's presumed to be 3.0 like most turbo sixes in the current market. Never mind the Earth Dream shenanigans. Just fancy marketing speak.
