Any chance/word of a 4 cylinder SH-AWD?

Has there been anything conclusive on whether this is a part of future plans?

Nothing conclusive, but all signs point to no.

I think it's probably possible, but the SH-AWD system is probably realistically too heavy.

Maybe if there were a 2.0T down the line. However, that still seems unlikely.

From http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...ra-tlx-review/ :

Why not offer [the 8-speed transmission] with both engines? Kipfer says a conventional nine-speed still offers more of the refinement that V-6 buyers want. Indeed, the nine-speed shifts with the creaminess we've come to expect of ZF transmissions. He also admits that the eight-speed dual-clutch, in its current form, won't stand up to the six-cylinder's torque. More problematic, it is not yet engineered to work with all-wheel drive.

My 06 TSX doesn't have enough TQ to power out of a corner. I can carry more speed into a corner because of its lighter weight and toss-ability. sh-awd would rob some of the little TQ it has and might have even less power out of the corner. The RDX awd system might be more useful for daily driving/bad weather than the sporty sh-awd if they decide down the road for the I-4 TLX.

Although the new generation SH-AWD is lighter than the previous system, it still adds noticeable weight.

People who have tested the pre-production SH-AWD version and the pre-production P-AWS version say that it's noticeable with the J Motor cars.

So I doubt that people are going to be interested in producing a K Motor version with that kind of weight added to it.

It's a dream car, a Civic-sized car with SH-AWD! But the way that Honda designs their systems, I doubt we'll see it.

:-(

Probably not with the N/A I4, but a turbo'ed 4 SH-AWD is slightly more possible. One can only hope lol.

The 2.4 isn't powerful enough to take advantage of SH-AWD.

That is why Acura needs to get a turbo as the lower end torque of a turbo would make SH-AWD in the I4 very possible.

This would be awesome, as Acura could hopefully avoid some of the FWD criticism by offering number of SH-AWD options. That being said, I doubt it happens.

I think it will. Their new VTEC Turbo engines are pretty much ready to go. We will probably see them next year?

Highly unlikely on the 1 year old TLX, because Honda/Acura almost always reserves engine changes (if any) for the MMC refresh (2.5 years from now) or after the MMC refresh.

My guess is a 2.0 Turbo and some sort of modified/upgraded DCT. Purely speculative on my part.

This is Acura's "in" back into some actual relevance.

Realistically, a 2.0 VTEC turbo mated with the 8 DCT from the TLX. Pop on the jewel eye LEDs.

ILX Type S

Unrealistically, a turbo six cylinder with a 6 speed MT. Pop on the jewel eye LEDs.
Only two colors, black and red.

Boom. ILX Type R

I haven't heard anything about the rumored CTR being any kind of SH-AWD.

Me either. PAWS is possible on the CTR though.

Oh, I meant to say that, we might see VTEC turbo in an Acura product probably next year (as a 2016 model perhaps, like ILX MMC)?

In that case, then (Turbo-I4 ILX) > (I4 TLX) ?
