Annoying reflection of A/C vent trim onto driver sideview mirror.

I've test driven the TLX V6 on two seperate occasions and I really like the car and still waiting for the SH-AWD version.

However, I wonder if others have experienced the annoying reflection of the driver side A/C vent (shiny plastic or metal) chrome trim onto the driver sideview mirror?

If I get the car, perhaps I can remove that aluminum/metal/plastic A/C vent trim piece and paint it flat-black and then re-install?

Have others noticed this reflection problem?

Thanks.

That reflection is actually on the window but is in line with the mirror, if I recall. My Accord does the same thing.. you'll get used to it. Tint helps

I do notice it. It is annoying but I will get used to it. I am scheduled for 3M tint application on Monday. I'll let you know if it helps.

On my test drive I looked for it but couldn't find it. Curiously, how tall are those who have noticed it. I'm 5'10" and did not see the reflection.

5'8"

I'll see if it shows up in a camera phone picture on the way home from work.

Is the reflection actually on the window in line with the mirror?

Yes, the reflection is of the metallic trim around the front left vent reflecting on lower portion of driver side window.

I seem to recall the 4G doing that too. If I look for it, it's very evident on my Accord too with that silver trim also

So on my way home from work I totally noticed it. Now it's hard to not "see" it. Like others have mentioned maybe tint will make it less noticeable.

I didn't notice any reflection at all on my test drive, even though it was a very hot and sunny day. Maybe I was too busy driving.

Thanks for the helpful replies!
I found this reflection annoying to me during 2 separate test drives on 2 different days, and one was in the morning and one was in the afternoon on 2 sunny days.
Yes, I was mistaken; the reflection is actually seen in the driver side window glass, not in the side view mirror. (I am 5' 11" tall.)
I don't plan to tint, but I might pop-off the metal-looking square-shaped trim ring and paint it flat black, if I determine the reflection is annoying enough to me after I've had the car for a while. I think shiny metal-colored trim (whether it is actual metal or plasticized metal) in an interior invites glare and reflection issues.

Here is a pic I took this afternoon… not sure why it is rotating the picture but you get the idea.

I test drove both the V6 & V4 at two different dealers over the last couple weeks and it is definitely there (even the first dealer acknowledged it and said only removal and black spray paint would help)!

Also FWIW and maybe someone coming from a 3rd Gen TL like me (2005), can comment but I tried to play a few of my TL DVD-A discs I made from DVD-r (using the well posted software from years back), and none of them will play. Kinda bumming' since I put so much time in on them and not sure how many discs the HDD can support for DVD.

I thought everyone was just nitpicking but with that pic, yeah that is pretty annoying. I'd have to see this in person I guess to fully understand.

I wonder if tint would help or make it worse though? Tint tends to accentuate certain reflections. I dunno I guess someone is gonna have to put it to the test. Either that or vinyl wrap the vents with black vinyl?

I did notice this during my test drive last week as well, but it was really noticed only at certain angles of sunlight reflection through the windows/windshield. Several other cars have this issue as well, so it's not just the TLX in my opinion.

I might have noticed this on my first test drive. There was something odd looking in the mirror but I couldn't quite figure it out. It was late in the afternoon but the sun was still up. On my second test drive it was later in the day, near sunset and only noticed the convex part of the mirror on that drive. I'll be tinting the car including the windshield so this may not be noticeable. I think it is probably one of those things you get used to.

The outer convex part of the mirror is going to be harder for me to get used to.

What till you take a trip and the sun hits the trim at the right angle and then hits yours eyes. The same trim is on our mdx and the metal trim around the bottom screen was not well thought of.

As bad as that is, the CHROME trim around the shifter in my Accord is the worst when the sun hits it just right.. blinding!

Actually it's not that bad. For a few days I saw it out of the corner of my eye, but within a week, I stopped seeing it. It's a non-issue as annoyances go.

Yup, I can confirm this. Little annoying but hoping it will be resolved with tint once I get that installed next month.

Same issue in my 2014 RDX, simple solution, I cut out a thin strip of black electrical tape and covered the chrome on the vent and the reflection is gone.

Saw on my testdrive as well.

Test driving a V6 Tech TLX at my local dealer, it's one of the first things I noticed. Mentioned it to the sales guy, and he said I wasn't the first person to say something. We both discussed that an after market solution will probably solve. FYI I have a V6 tech on order, it's somewhere in the production line.

Smile Problem solved.

The reflection from the air vent bezel on the window appeared right in the middle of my view in the side view mirror. I'm surprised others are content to just, "get used to it."
I bought some paint and approximated the color as best I could to the color of the dash material. With a stready hand and an artist brush, I painted the air vent bezel the same color as the dash in made the annoying reflection disappear.
Cosy me $5 for the paint. It looks good.

I noticed the issue today on my new TLX as well. For me it's a non-issue. It seems to reflect worse in bright conditions and even when I'm driving in different environments like suburbs or rural. My solutions are to tint the window or black out the vent like the suggestion above.

Definitely a low risk annoyance.

When I took my test drive it was very sunny. There where so many reflections off the window blocking the mirror, it actually took me a few seconds to figure out what the heck I was actually seeing in the mirror.
If someone tints their front windows would you please let us know if this solves the problem.

I test drove an I4 yesterday and was expecting the reflection but I learned I could look past it at the mirror and I don't think it will be an issue for me. Annoying yes, and issue no.

Another solution might be some black electrical tape. Easy to apply and removable.

I have a Chevy Volt currently....will be driving a TLX soon (waiting for delivery). I have a similar reflection on my passenger window from the side vent and the vent is trimmed flat black. I plan on tinting the TLX windows, so hopefully that helps it some. My windows are tinted on my Volt.

On my first drive home with the car, I noticed the vent reflection on my tinted TLX. I agree it's annoying, but I could get past that. The funhouse mirror properties of that driver-side mirror is probably what annoyed me more.
