Android Auto, worth waiting for a 2017 TLX for it?
Hi:
I really like my Android phone and esp. enjoy google maps. I understand the 2016 Honda Accord offers Android Auto, but the 2016 TLX does not.
How likely is it that 2017 TLX will have support for Android Auto? And is that one feature enough to wait (at least 6 months it seems?) for 2017 TLX? What else is anticipated to be in in the 2017 TLX? I would love to have heated steering wheel/Adv_package in TLX 4cyl, for example.
George.

Exactly. Major changes arent due till the 2018 model. I personally like the current radio as-is, better than accord. If you like your google maps and what not there is some nav tool thing that mirrors your smart phone on the upper screen, you could always do that and problem solved

I rather like the dual screen setup. It's nice not having to sacrifice the nav screen when the phone is busy with a call, etc. I like how the radio and music functions can be kept away from the nav screen up top as well.

The 2016 Civic dash is an LCD display. Honda now seems to save its cutting edge tech for the Civic and Accord.

I don't think that's the case. The RLX was the first FMC, followed by the TLX & MDX (I think). After that, the Accord followed, then the Civic. It makes sense that the Hondas are more on the edge at the moment because they were redesigned later. This creates a situation where Honda and Acura both end up leapfrogging each other in in-cabin tech.

i like the dual screen but as some folks pointed out and if you youtube the android auto/carplay setup for the accord, it essentially doesn't play well aesthetically with the honda's dual screen. personally i'm glad i don't have it and all i want is to add smartphone mirroring to the top screen.

I think that has a ton to do with the amount of Accords Honda sells. It would make some sense to introduce the most desirable features to the public in the highest selling models.

As far as driver and passenger tech, they lag in every category as far as I can see.

As much as I love those 2 things you mentioned, my mechanic friend said Ford used the capless fuel tank feature also and it had to be replaced every 2 years or so for about $300 bucks due to the seal weakening over time.
But yea what is up with car navigation systems? They're always so unresponsive and laggy. I'm not asking that they put in some $500 processor but it's so bad that I'm buying a cd mount so I can use my phone nav instead. Other than that, the bluetooth lag is the only other thing I have complaints about. Everything else is dandy considering I'm upgrading from an ancient 2000 camry.

i had a mustang for 4 years and never had any weakening of the seal of its capless fuel tank. the $300 job sounds like more of a defect that should have been taken cared of by warranty imo.
i'll consider android auto (or carplay for that matter) if they put Waze. otherwise i'm sticking to my phone with hopes to mirror my phone on the top screen with a module.

Acura made their initial reputation of being a leader in automotive technology. They are pretty much a follower now. The last thing they innovated was SH-AWD which is now being copied... and to some degree PAWS.. but rear wheel steering was done years ago. PAWS is just doing an old thing it better

I have an android phone and think the current version of Android Auto is overrated.
Before I got my TLX, I test drove a 2016 Honda Accord Touring. I was not impressed at all. The Accord didn't have Blind Spot Monitors, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, or Brake Hold. These are features that I have come to appreciate in my wife's Lexus and now have in my new TLX.

Burning Brakes
Besides AppleCar Play/Audroid Auto.... What are these tech things that the Accord has that the TLX does not have?

BTW, the only thing I can think of that Acura has is Siri Eye Free, but Apple CarPlay has that plus many more.

Honda always seem to opt for Accord wheels that look one size below what they should be. it's passable at a glance and if you're more about MPG than looks it's fine but once I noticed it it bothered me so much. When i was cross shopping and realized that replacing the wheels brought the cost closer to Acura's I was like screw it. Ofcourse at the time neither cars had CarPlay or Android Auto but looking at the state of both I'm kind of glad I didn't get a half-assed connectivity system in my car that I'd eventually tire of it. I'd give it 2-3 years at least. Next car perhaps.

Still Bluetooth Issues....
If you have an Acura call In-Car Tech Support Team at 888-528-7876 and report the bluetooth lag problems with your vehicle. The more reports they receive the higher the chance of actually getting this fixed.
