Alcantara or Leather

What are everyone's thoughts on the Alcantara seats on the A-Spec? They look great but will they be low maintenance and stand the test of time? I personally feel real leather will be more durable but not completely sold on the red leather option. Wished Acura gave the choice of a black leather.

I would go with the red leather vs. the Alcantara. They look good and feel good. IMO, the Alcantara is more for sport cars and doesn't look right in a luxury (or near lux) car.

My car has alcantara bottom/back, leather bolstered-seats in a similar fashion to the A-Spec.

Do you have any kids? If so, I would not recommend it.

Do you ever eat in the car? If you do, or are not okay with telling people not to eat in your car, I would not recommend it.

It is a minor hassle to maintain, but a much bigger hassle to remove stains from. But I would go with them time and time again, they feel much cooler in summer, and nowhere near as frigid in winter. From what I've seen, alcantara stands the test of time better than leather does as well... I personally haven't seen any ripped alcantara yet, but it is much less common.

Doesn’t this question depend on what exterior colour you’re getting?

My question is more about the durability of the Alcantara and ease to maintain. I've read a lot of other forum posts (mostly Audi) that express the negatives and how it gets fuzzies and you can wear holes in it. These are not issues with leather so I feel the leather will hold up better but I'm not sold on the red. I like it but will I feel the same after a couple years.

Depends on the actual quality of the leather. Only long term experience was one car I had from new with leather & it was good for 10 years, was sold at that point. Alcantara is a fabric so I would bet on the leather holding up longer with proper care.

Only for the M series. We lowly 440's get just duals even with the performance exhaust system. Actually quite a few cars are running quads now. Think the Acura TL S-Type was one of the first non-BMW's to pick up on the style back in 2008. Infinity has also been running them for a long time on one of their upmarket cars. Nissan also had them for a while don\t know if they still do.

Nice feature for top of the line cars. The rear trunk lid & bumper can be pretty boring without some styling features to set if off. Added a diffuser to mine for a light visual modification.

I find it kind of ridiculous that you only have two choices in the A-Spec package and one isn’t all leather. Personally, I don’t like the red interior because I have the still night blue pearl. I wanted all black leather but obviously that wasn’t an option so I went with the black Alcantra. I hope it wears well since I keep my cars 8 years on average.

Agreed that it's disappointing re choices. Red isn't for everyone, and although the Alcantra looks good, wear might be an issue down the road. For that reason, I am more inclined to go with a non ASPEC Elite (Advance) with lighter beige leather and contrast piping. The black leather also looks good.

That's exactly why I got a non-A-spec. Red was too much and I preferred the full leather seats over the alcantara. If the A-spec had an option for full black leather seats I would've probably gotten it. Hope the alcantara holds up well for you!

For what it's worth the TSX SE seats I have seen are holding up well, in some cases better than the leather. The Alcantra would be tempting to me because it would be not as cold in the winter and not as hot in the summer (well at least when you first get in).

Since I'm waiting around at the dealership, they had an A-spec on the showroom floor with the red leather. I like the red leather it looks really good. Wish they had one with alcantara though.

I got the black Alcantara. Even though I like the more sporty look of the A-Spec and enjoy it, Red Leather is just a little bit loud for me.... Maybe if I was younger!

I do wish it was black leather as I am used to it after so many years and its easier to slip in and out of... But it is fine and not a deal breaker

I am well North of 50 and opted for Red Leather and I get tons of compliments on it. I was concerned it was a bit too much, but honestly by day 2 I was digging it.

I recently leased a new 2018 Elite ASpec. If I had the choice, I likely would have gone for the parchment leather, but I wanted the ASpec. They did not have another 18 with Red Leather, so I took the white one with Alcantara. I did a lot of reading on Alcantara, and how to maintain it and watched some excellent You Tube Videos. It seems like it should last just fine with proper maintenance - a good brush in your car with a quality Interior cleaner is all you need. My kids are grown up, and I use our 2014 Altima for grandkids and dogs, so I know mine will last. I have come to appreciate their comfort and appearance and mused that I might have tired of the red leather. At least like soft leather, they don't wrinkle

A-SPEC/RED! Most people that see the Still Night Blue/Red combo, love it
Ever since I saw my 1st BMW, with Red leather, I've been hooked
Only time will determine how well it holds up
we'll see
