I suspect it's based on demand. We "car guys" may tend to overlook that the vast majority of people view a car as transportation and likely aren't interested in dropping over 30k for a Honda Accord.

- It's all about demand and mix. The trim levels (LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L Navi, and Touring) will likely follow a bell curve with the middle of the line up (EX, EX-L, EX-L Navi) making up most of the sales - regardless of the engine (1.5L, 2.0L or Hybrid).

It has been stated that the Sport will have the key less entry, push button start and a moon roof, alloy pedals...so depending on what else you can get that trim with the manual transmission may be a tempting option (some options revealed here):

Note that is has the old TL armrest ha ha

Nice! I always wished the 9th gen Sport's had moonroofs. That and leather seats were all I thought it needed since I wanted a manual.

Agree....the SE model adds the leather, but no moonroof. I think that the Sport (2017) is the best looking of the bunch, but it is too bare bones. Looks like the 2018 gets some nice additions, but I prefer the wheels on the 2017. Very interested to see the full specs when we get closer to release.

I think a couple years back you could even get a Touring model 4cylinder with a manual in Canada. We didn't get that in the US. That would have been a great spec.

Looks to me like the Sport is the new coupe, with 2-more doors. Manual tran, leather, sunroof, 252 hp turbo engine, etc. I had an Accord coupe, but it was/is uncomfortable for a 6-footer. Also for an older guy. I'm both. So that eliminates a market segment for Accord. The Sport will appeal to car nuts like us, as well as the broader market. I think it's a smart move. I also have a feeling the 252 hp turbo four is going to surprise a lot of doubters.

With the Accord Sport getting more options (moonroof etc), will it still be priced like before below the EX or will be higher priced?

Unfortunately the Accord Sport will be an "el-strippo" model; yes, you can get the 2.0t and a 6-Speed manual, but if you want any other goodies, sorry, you must buy the higher trim levels which by definition means you lose the 6-Speed.

Not a lot of info due to the embargo, but I will say it's looking like this car is going to get good reviews.

Adaptive dampers, 10AT, heads up display, 2.0T engine, faster & more user-friendly infotainment, the new Accord is looking really good!

By the way, the new Accord is about 130-170lb lighter than previous gen depending on the trim level.

From what I've read/heard, the new Accord looks much better in person with great, positive road presence. That interior is arguably best in class.

New accord is gorgeous inside and outside. It will be a huge hit. Probably the best accord since the 90-93 body style. HONDA IS BACK

With the Accord loaded up with so many goodies, the next gen TLX should be a show stopper...you would think. But this car will further have TLX sales plummeting until the next gen comes out. I sat in a TLX Aspec this past weekend and the interior is basically the same as my 2010 TSX except the dual screen. It's boring. Familiar, but boring. The Accord's interior, based on what the above video shows, is very nice and updated. And I do think in person it will be a good looking car...but we shall see.

Yea, I think that's the whole point of the Precision Concept and Precision Cockpit. What we see now from Acura are the remaining "Smart Luxury" products.

It's not that big of an improvement, but it certainly was a bit nicer than the TSX. Not to mention all the goodies/availability of AWD.

Honestly, the 2.4 TLX is fucked, especially the Aspec in Canada .... no way someone would pay more to get less in the Acura. Need to see driving impressions, but would shock me if it's boring.

I'll visit my local Honda dealer and test drive the 2.0 Touring model when it hits - just for fun. From some angles I think the car looks okay - from other angles I still think it looks awful.

The front is odd..the big gapping hole under the grill. Just looks unfinished. It's probably the part I hate the most. I think the side profile is actually pretty good.

The front is a complete mystery to me. It will be interesting to hear their design thoughts on what they're doing as I'm sure they will be asked. I get that they wanted to try to be "aggressive" (although making a Japanese Malibu doesn't count as aggressive in my mind ) but it's just bizarre. I thought the 9th gen had a great front end and grill - this is just plain odd.

The rear is what gets me. But, that interior is amazing.

I already have Honda calling me to come trade up. Um, no. 9/9.5 gen is one of the best body styles for the Accord.

I need to them to check something out on my car, but waiting until they get a 6MT on the lot....

I'm in the minority for sure - but I really liked the old two screen interior. I know the whole industry is moving to the bolted on tablet interface but I think it looks so tacky. Clearly I'm swimming upstream on this one.

I'm right there with you. The 2 screen setup just works regardless what every media review seems to say about it. Even more so now with CarPlay/Android Auto.

This is also one of the reasons why I dismissed the Q50 Red Sport. The two screen setup was way too similar to the TLX, and it wasn't really a layout I liked. I much prefer having one screen with all daily used buttons physically accessible, especially in the winter. It wasn't the only reason, but it didn't help. At first, it was one of the cool factors about the TLX. In use, not so much.

I'm in complete agreement with you too. I think the 2 screens works really well and the tablet look makes it look like the screen was an afterthought. Kind of like let's find a place to bolt on this tablet.

I'm swimming right beside you. I think it looks very cheap and/or an after thought.

Here are a couple of Accord / TLX comparison articles:

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...d-spec-review/ - Interesting reference to the elephant in the room.

Which is a shame, because that is the best transmission choice. That Honda DCT is a treasure. I tested a 2.4 TLX just for kicks when I was getting my TSX worked on. Loved the transmission. The rest wasn't quite worth upgrading at that price point.

Much like the Civic this is growing on me quickly and I am sure will even more so in person. This Accord reminds me of a few of the older generations rolled into one + something new and I find that interesting. And what is clear is that Honda is LISTENING to its customers, you can see that in the first video with what is included in the Sport trim now.

I haven't driven any TLXs yet but the DCT does intrigue me and it seems to have way less issues than the 9AT.
