In C&D 11/2017 0-60mph for the 252HP 2.0T manual in 6.1s (no 5-60 reported). For people interested to that stuff, it would lose a TLX V6 FWD. Maybe the 10-sp will perform petter.

Our 2.0T Touring modelís 5.7-second 0-60-mph time precisely matches that of our last V-6 Touring, which weighed 175 pounds more.

So they get the same 0-60mph in 6.2s (vs 6.1s in C&D) for a manual 2.0T - last V6 manual tested by C&D was 5.8s.

... and the 10-sp is quicker as I wrote it would.

Can't wait the 5-60mph figures.

Just an observation in general. Few higher end buyers go to for a honda accord. Value buyers will and nothing wrong with that. I bought a new honda for my kid rather than an Acura or other more expensive car. Just a good value low cost car. Nothing elitist about it but I can see you are easily upset which makes me sad for you.

Here's the 2.0T 10AT vs the old 3.5 V6 6AT (skip to just after 6:00):

The 2.0T 6AT is difficult to launch well according to Jeff at TOV. It either bogs down or spins the tires endlessly. Getting the perfect launch requires patience and skills because of the turbo. And unlike the CTR, it doesn't have the summer tires to help put the power down.

As I understand it, the video above was recorded in New Hampshire. If so, elevation plays a part in the margin of victory here.

Edit: Soyfan's clip was probably done at the same location as this article:

http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/lat...icle-1.3536228

Read: 1,600 ft above sea level. If so, the V6's 278hp is probably more like 255hp. And given the added curb weight of a 9G Touring V6 over the 10G, the V6 had less power:weight in this run.. #stackeddeck

Hmmm, 1,600' MSL doesn't really constitute "altitude"; I rather doubt you'll be able to measure much of a difference between a car up at Bretton Woods and the same car down at say Hampton Beach. Yes, I understand "all else being equal", a normally aspirated car at sea level will be a hair faster than at 1,600', but rarely is "all else equal".

OEM tires suck balls anyway. They should be discarded before you even take the car home

I saw this video last week and it is very flawed.

This amateur basically ignores the importance of the new modern 10-sp transmission vs the old tech 6-sp. Also the new engine has direct injection, not the old one.

100% true. However, the average Accord owner is buying tires at Costco, and wouldn't know what sticky rubber is, aside from the gum stuck on the bottom of their kids shoes, when they stepped on it in the park.

What is flawed? The new car beat the old one two for two & it was a drive away, not even close.. Think they should swap transmissions to make it "fair"? The car is a complete package with all the parts designed to work together. When all the parts are working together in both cars the NA V6 looses. Nothing will change that.

Honda's objective was to maintain or improve performance with the new car, The vid shows they got it right even if it makes you unhappy.

I'm using this calculator and for 1600ft, the hp loss is about 13hp, putting it at about 265hp:
Wallace Racing - Braking HP Loss at Altitude Calculator

I get your point though. For sure, the slightly lower hp because of the elevation, the 10AT vs 6AT, and the lighter curb weight would all help the new car to perform better.

I think that's part of the whole package though, and another advantage of going turbo.

Hmmm, I don't know if flawed is the right word. I don't think that person was ignoring the tranny or weight difference. All the video was trying to show is how the two cars would do when pitted against each other, that's all. Honda's goal for the new car is to maintain the same level of performance while improving EPA ratings. It seems like that goal has been met. It doesn't matter about DI, # of gears, it's about the end result here.

If you put the RLX's 310hp V6 in the Accord with the new 10AT, and combine that with the lower weight, and conduct the same test at sea level, then yea, most likely this Accord would win against the 2.0T version.

Oh he focused much more than just mere end result. It was a pure 2.0T vs V6 argument.

The point I was trying to make is while being up to 1,600' MSL will yield a ~13 hp loss compared to sea level, ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL, and that simply isn't the case. The fact is, even with a minor altitude change you also gain a commensurate drop in temperature which will at least partially offset the difference in altitude.

Just because it's "happening" doesn't mean it should. Use some common sense, and take the Accord topics to the Accord Enthisiast Community, which is what I recommended, literally.

I finally saw my first MMC TLX, just the other day. Admittedly, it was in front of the Acura dealership, as I drove by I still haven't seen one in the wild though. Either way, I must admit, the front end looks good. Pictures don't seem to do it much justice.

If I was in the market for a midsize sedan right this moment, I'd take the new Accord over the current TLX. Because 6mt and decently appointed. Seriously. The only reason. If it were a loaded Accord with a 6mt (I know Honda won't give us that), I'd be all over it like a fat kid with a birthday cake. Otherwise, I'm rather interested to see the 2G TLX. If it has a 6mt Sport option, I would choose that over the Accord, then. Looks wise, yeah, the new Accord is a bit on the strange side. I'm interested to see it in person, though. I'm hoping it's the same thing as the TLX, where photos don't do it justice. But that might be wishful thinking

Come to think of it, I've only seen a handful of new '18 TLXs on the road so far..all but one being the A-Spec.

I have seen an 'observational' uptick in the number of '17 models on the road around my area. I've even come across a couple of GT models.

The TLX is not about common sense, it is a gussied up Accord, which is why your recommendation is not being taken, literally.

Think of this as a discussion of a very early 2G TLX and be happy.

We just got one in at the dealership today for training. Trainer said we should see them within the next week or possibly within the next day. The car looks great in person. Pics don't do it justice. And Car and Driver named it "Car of the Year" already. Giving it better marks than the Toyota Camry.

now if they would do a full red interior like the Camry, would be perfect!

But then you would have to change the name to TLX!

I still can't get over the big gapping black opening under the hood. It just doesn't look right. But maybe once I see it in person i'll like it more.

Acura still sucks?

Aspec TLX is a nice car, but, I would still go with the 10G Accord.

Oooh... Can you get another picture with the hood up, like looking square onto it from the front? Is it really clipped like a toenail, straight across? Or is there still some contour to the front edge of the hood?

Maybe a little odd, but that's the one thing nagging me about the front end and I haven't seen any around yet.

I dig the new 2018 Accord. I'd buy one over the TLX in a heartbeat

the pewter gold/rose gold color looks GREAT! I wonder if it is the press pics that make it look weird

Wow. I'm in shock.
M6 meets TLX and cut price tag in a third...I actually thought it was a TLX with a nice stance and cool wheels for a moment before realizing it's actually a car with much better proportions.
I like the TLX Aspec, but that picture just jumped out at me. I really dig it.

I personally can't stand Rose Gold in any shape.. It reminds me of the old champagne gold corollas and accords that ruled the early 90's
