Easy answer for me. TLX A-Spec would be my choice simply because I don't want or need an SUV. I don't dislike the RDX. In fact, I think Acura did a great job with the redesign. I just prefer sedans.

I don't like trucks or SUVs. Fit and finish is probably better on the RDX, but the TLX has a more suited engine for this class and might end cheaper. Combined fuel economy is the same but the TLX has even a 3mpg advantage on highway.

I would have gotten the RDX had the new one been available when I bought the TLX. New platform, new interior, easier to park (it's shorter than the TLX), and more practical. All things that my wife cares more about than driving dynamics. Honestly, if she cared about the driving dynamics, we probably would have purchased a 3/4-series (or an IS350 if reliability was a factor).

TLX ASPEC, but I am not a SUV person. I have 19 TLX V6 ASPEC AWD and Wife has 10 RDX Advance AWD, while I like her RDX I could not drive it every day. I like a handling ride and the RDX is a bit soft, although the ASPEC is probably better, but the higher of center of gravity will always be a handling issue for me. While the tech in the RDX is nice I just plug my Android into the car and get Android Auto which overcomes many of the TLX Infotainment issues. Also no Andoid Auto in RDX yet so another deal breaker for now, my wife is IOS so she is fine.

I was excited about the new RDX when it was first announced, but the more I read, the less I was sure I would be willing to trade my 2015 TLX Advance for one. The RDX has a couple of features that I don't have on the TLX and it's missing some features that I already have. If I had to get a new Acura today, I would go for the 19 TLX just because it's a mature platform with all (most) of the bugs worked out of it. I think the RDX needs another year to work on it's software and build quality. The RDX will be my next vehicle, but not this year.

Would not do anything unless it was a critical need. To close to the next generation TLX coming out. Same for the BMW 3 series. The F generation is just about done & will be replaced by a much enhanced G generation much like TLX 5G to 6G situation.

Really 2020 RDX Type-S? Where are we getting that info from? While I agree there will be a new TLX next year I question if they will do a Type-S at launch, Acura while headed in a better direction is still known to bungle a few things and I suspect the Type-S will be another one where they go back to waiting on MMC.

The 3G Type S was a last two years of the cycle sales volume enhancer to slow the natural decline in sales at the end of a generation. Honda is very conservative & don't think they will break with the prior pattern. I think they will consider the A-Spec & new 3.0T enough for the launch.

I was desperate to dump my 15 TLX because the driving dynamics just sucked. Test drove both the 19 TLX A-Spec SH-AWD and the 19 RDX A-Spec SH-AWD. I ended up with the RDX because of the better fit and finish and overall quality is much better than the TLX. Plus, I wanted more room now that I’m a homeowner and also wanted the new infotainment system. I do miss having a V6 and the fuel economy that the TLX gets. You can’t go wrong with either. I loved the A-Spec TLX when I drove it; iIt was like a completely different car compared to my 15 Advance TLX. I don’t regret getting the RDX one bit- it’s by far my favorite car that I’ve ever owned. Good luck with your purchase!

I have an 18 TLX ASpec and a 19 RDX ASpec, his and hers. They both have their pros/con. The 9ZF of the TLX and some infotainment quirks of the RDX would be my biggest cons.

Just a few oddities really. You cant rename saved addresses, they are saved how the mapping shows it. So a hospital or school that has a common name, McMaster University or Hamilton Health Sciences for example would be saved and displayed as such. My moms house 123 King St is listed and named just like that and you cant change it to "Moms House" or whatever. Also, you cant zoom or really scroll around the map like you can in the TLX or Acuras with the big knob. Neither are a deal breaker for me especially with Google Maps now working with CarPlay. The touch pad works great and the voice commands work way better then the TLX. ELS sounds better then the TLX too.
Many RDX owners have complained about the system freezing or shutting off randomly, but I havet had any problems. Im sure with the OTA updates, hopefully Acura will change/add features to the NAVI. Overall, Im very happy with it.Very sporty and fun to drive too.

They may have never done so in the past, but the entire auto industry game has changed. If Acura wants to stay relevant, they need to keep up. Acura is no longer in a position to write the rules, like they were able to decades ago. At least not at the moment.
The Type S might not be there right at launch... but I’d expect it to show up within 3-6 months after the 2G TLX launches, at the very latest.

The 2.3T was a turd of an engine. Sorry, but the power output was meh and the fuel economy was garbage, at best. True story. Mostly because it was a poorly executed turbo system. Nothing like the engineered from the ground up turbo engines Honda is utilizing now.
And why are you concerned about fuel economy, Mr.I-only-ever-drive-in-Sport+-mode-because-Ive-admitted-numerous-times-the-transmission-in-my-TLX-otherwise-sucks? Someone who only drives in Sport+ mode, shouldn’t be worried about sipping fuel. Or am I missing something?

I'm pretty sure the Type S will launch with next gen. Market for sedans has changed. You have to make a big splash with the release. You can't wait around for years to release your best model. If the car is not a hit it's pretty much dead on arrival. Nothing will spike the sales later.

Back on topic....I test drove a 2019 RDX Tech a few days ago while my NSX was in the dealer for NSXPO prep. I'm not a SUV guy, but man, the RDX even in Tech form feels and handles just like a car. I can only imagine a RDX A-Spec, with its wider tires, would be even more so. Were I in the market, it'd be, shockingly enough, a tough decision. A small SUV like the RDX might actually sway me. I love the looks of the RDX. The interior is incrementally better than the TLX. The infotainment system is better than the TLX even though I had a glitch in which the XM app crashed.
I've got 21 months on my lease yet, so I've got plenty of time to ogle over "the next daily driver car". Another TLX? NC1 NSX? RDX? Audi S7? High-mileage S2000 that I can drive the shiz out of? Well see.
