2018 TLX A-Spec Looks Good

For what it's worth, we have been a loyal Acura family having owned/leased 6 Acuras and 2 Hondas. Currently we are leasing a '15 TLX and '15 MDX. Acura was beginning to be dead to me because of the lackluster styling and dated infotainment tech (ie slow, low res, & no carplay)

Our current '15 TLX lease is up in September, and I have already been shopping for more "sporty" alternatives from BMW, Lexus, Cadillac, And Porsche. This TLX A-Spec is an exciting development. While I do wish there were some performance upgrades to match the styling, this is an awesome step for Acura. I for one am looking forward to seeing this car in person and will strongly consider leasing one this summer.

I am in LOVE with the ASPEC. Either white or blue look GORGEOUS! I bought my 15 TLX and will not sell it until the 2020 model or later so I won't be buying a 18 TLX but my fantasy is the blue, wow!

Having owned or leased 6 Acuras and 4 Hondas, I concur with your excitement. I do very much like my current 2016 2.4 TLX Tech, I will likely stay put for another year or two, but an in person experience with the 2018 car may change that

The photographed A Spec in blue is really spectacular looking. Would love to see one "in the metal."

These are from the Acura Connected site. That blue looks awesome. Word is you can get that color with the red interior. I'm tempted, but I need to see in person that combo. Throw a tint on that car with some mud flaps and I'm good to go. Just hope it handles as advertised.

Agree that blue on red will be a very unique color combination. White w/ red or black is also very nice. Love the subtle interior details and ambient lighting. I hope to be one of the first to take this one home of it is as nice looking in person as it appears.

I definitely will be test driving it as I'm in the market for a new car over the next year. Audi is my first choice, but now with the updates, this will be a consideration as I've been loyal to the brand since 1998. I'm looking forward to seeing the other color combos

I like my front end (on my car, that is), but this is really growing on me. Grill is very distinctive and looks just fine with the headlights, IMO.

I have a 2016 white ILX aspec with tech, I'm thinking of giving it to my wife and getting the blue Aspec TLX with all the bells and whistles...vs...a new BMW 430i or 440i M sport blue with red leather and bells and whistles (about $58,000+taxes/fees). Practical wise...a acura tlx aspect would be the wiser practical and economical choice while still having a luxury car. OR I could wait till I PCS overseas and order a BMW in 2019...but then again, the acura tlx looks so beautiful in blue and thinking about that red leather!

I love the new MMC on the 2018 TLX A Spec. Its about time Acura come out with red seats and interior! beside the NSX (way overprice). My first choice would be blue with red seats, second choice is white with red seats. I can't wait to see it in person and take it home.

The Aspec looks nice but I actually like the look of the regular one because it has more chrome accents, makes it look more upscale.

I prefer the features on the TLX Advance but like the styling cues of the A-Spec better. I think the chrome is a bit excessive on the non-A-Spec model, especially on the rear of the car. Will need to see in person first. I want to see the '18 TLX Advance and A-Spec in silver.

I'm planning to test-drive an A-Spec. If the driving experience is any good, and I can secure a good deal, it may be in my driveway this summer, despite the tiny back seats. I'd get it in blue/ebony, SH-AWD. I like the RLX Sport Hybrid and am also thinking about leasing another, but the A-Spec will be a good "place holder" while I see whether the next RLX uses more cues from the Precision Concept and ups its game in 2020; it'll also be far less expensive to lease than the RLX has been.

I don't miss the beak at all. I would miss the head's up display on the RLX, though. That should be part of AcuraWatch, IMHO.

Good first impressions. This new A-Spec trim has me REALLY interested in the Acura brand again. The blue color reminds me so much of the TL-S in Kinetic Blue Pearl. Will take one for a test drive when they're out.

^^Good impressions. It's clearly an improvement on the pre MMC model, but the reviewer clearly is indicating it's best to wait for the 2G if possible. We will get a better idea of what that will look like when the RLX gets a full upgrade.

Is there any mention of improved throttle response for A-spec? I read on this forum and others where throttle was tuned and it made a big difference..I thought Acura can at least do that in sport or sport+ mode for A-spec.

Acura was on some serious drugs to not originally release the car this way. I actually really like it's looks after seeing it, that blue is very nice. If they can come out with a Type S version with a standard RWD and Optional AWD and 350+HP Twin Turbo they will be back in the game.

I try to understand changes - steering feel is about 16% harder at 62 miles. That should be noticeable. Spring rate changed by 3%. anti roll bar width and wall thinkness also increased by about 3%. Not sure whether that will create any significant difference in handling. It also talks about quicker steering ratio and revised IDS settings but no numbers are given. A-spec comes with Primacy MXM4, i wish they chose something like pilot sport a/s3.

In BMW land the blue on red is known as the Superman Option. Seems to be very polarizing. A love it or hate it combo with no middle ground.

A VP at my company has this option and I can't decide if I like it or not. Leaning towards no, but my bimmer-owning friends all seem to love it

I'm wondering if the springs and roll bar from the A-spec will fit onto our TLX's. I'd love to grab those. I don't know if the steering feel changes can be programed, or the steering ratio and IDS changes as well.
