While the TLX has its flaws, I've heard more complaints on the Q50. Regardless, based on what I can find, the sales numbers are better for the Q50. Looks like they sold 44K Q50's vs 37K TLX's in 2016. And to date in 2017, about 30K vs. 26K.

Yes! I agree. It's very fair comparison.
The Q50/60 has a higher sell number than TLX, that's a fact. I think more HP and less complains helped Q50/60 to achieve that. The transmission issue played against Acura big time.

It's also hard to say what the average OTD price is - perhaps Infinity is more aggressive?
Either way they're both pretty nice cars with pros and cons. I can see if you've had a bad experience with your Acura how the grass may look greener on the Q50 lawn - but it's not without flaws either.
That Blue A-Spec looks pretty sharp!

one thing to keep in mind on the Q50/Q60 volume vs TLX is that I see Q50's available for rental vehicles.

I don’t mind if you call it American or Mexican. I went based on the article.

Point is every car ACURA does not sell to a rental company is a lost sale & reality is they do have a very narrow product line. Also maybe people who have no clue as to what a TLX is might get a rental & discover its a very nice car & buy one. Better marketing then the dumb high performance TV adds.

Also it depends which market, USA or Canada. If I am not mistaken, TLX sales are higher than Q50/60 in Canada.

Think ACURA is very happy to be thought of as a Japanese car company because of the reliability rub-off. Although that Japanese car attribute is a bit tarnished lately. Its interesting that some people are still unaware as to where the TLX actually comes from.

Wait, the article says the Q50 is quieter inside than the TLX. Any thoughts?
I have to find this out on my own.

Great comparison!
I must say that my TLX SH-AWD Elite A Spec is a significant improvement over my 2015 TLX SH-AWD Elite in terms of handling and transmission. Both are now spot on and I am loving my new car. The A Spec also makes the car much more attractive too - I think that it is much better looking than the Q50, but looks are subjective and so that is neither here nor there.

I know, I think that is an interesting comment.... the TLX is mighty quiet already, with the acoustic glass and the active noise cancellation system! Perhaps he was referring to that silly "fake" "sports car" noise that Acura added to the A Spec during its acceleration!? LOL

One glaring advantage that the TLX V6 has over the Q50 (and was also a major reason why I opted for the TLX over the Q50 3.7 at that time) is fuel economy. The TLX is compromised versus just about all of its competitors when it comes to performance but makes up for it in spades when it comes to fuel consumption.

I think people associate TLX to reliability, durability and cheaper maintenance. And Q50/60 to fun driving and powerful machine.
Disclaimer: This is based on what I hear and read...not SAYING Acura is more reliable than Infiniti.lol

There is a perception about certain brands that people will always believe. For example, Sony Makes the best TVs, Honda is reliable. Camry is for grandpas, MacBook is the best laptop and so on.
If you ask people is Infiniti more reliable than Acura. I assure you the majority of peolle will say no. Again, I am not saying this but it’s people’s perception. I am sure you know that.

Meh, I trust the reliability of an Accord over the Altima. Might as well feel likewise with my TLX versus the Q50. 21K on the clock, and I've never had an issue. That said, good friend of mine has no complaints about his Q50 3.7, and he's making the move to the RS400 next. I suppose both brands are generally reliable.

My father in law has an Infiniti and no issues at all. He is super happy with the car. At the end of the day it comes down to personal choice and budget.
This comparison is one of the best I have seen after a long time. Acura TLX is a great buy for someone who wants premium material, good resale value and low maintenance cost. And drive a 300HP car with an amazing AWD.

I've never been interested in anything Nissan after having rented an Altima. If the base model is that lame -- in everything -- why would anyone pay huge bucks for an Infiniti?

After having owned a defective POS 15 TLX, all future Acura's are shit. Why pay huge bucks for fake marketed fun and real problems? Same logic, must be true.

Well, the conversation thread degraded in fairly short order.

Yes, there’s a clique here that always wants to talk bad about the TLX. They pump up any negatives that come up in the press and downplay the positives. You’d think they’d simply go to the forum that’s centered on the car they own and leave it at that. Why they’re here always grandstanding is a mystery to me.

Sigh, I really don't know why people are saying "we" screwed up another thread. My response was a joke related to comment about all Infiniti's being shit just because an Altima sucks.
