2015 TLX vs 2006 TL

I owened a 08 TL A-spec from 65,000-116,000. I loved it. I bought it 2.5 years ago from an acura dealership and rolled in the a-spec package. I wanted a type S but couldn't find one. Previously I owned a 2000 prelude, 97 civic ex, 98 civic lx, 89 CRX. A couple weeks ago during a snow storm some one spun into me and totaled my car. I was frustrated but quickly opened up to new possibilities. About 7 months ago I test drive a 4-cylinder and a V6 fwd. The SH-AWD was not at dealerships yet. The I4 did feel light and agile but I missed the v6 torque. For some reason the V6 Fwd actually felt slower then my 08 TL A-spec (only power mod was a tanabe medallion catback which was awesome.) I had been loaned at times a 13 TL SH-AWD From the dealership during service downtime so I knew the potential.
Comparison
08 TL To 15 TLX
Power- TLX feels much faster
Handling- TLX is amazing with awd does not feel nose heavy compared to 08 TL
Leather- TLX espresso is beautiful
Overall luxury feel/fit and finish- TLX hands down
HID vs LED- TLX is so bright at night
Leg room front- Same
leg room back - TL had a little more room.
Trunk opening to rear filed down seats- TLX bigger opening
Overall very satisfied. The only complaint is while driving and suddenly I need to stomp on the peddle there is a little lag from the auto down shifting to the right gear. Might be compared to turbo lag. I drive in sport mode auto most of the the time with engine stop off. I got 19-21 mpg in my 08 TL so I don't really care about high gas mileage. It is civil when I need it and fun at the same time. Very smooth shifts. In sport + I only use paddle shifters which are precise and keep you in the power band. Feels just like a manual. I find auto in sport + too jerky.
I looked at BMW, Audi, and Mercedes. All more expensive for comparable features. I can't stand american brands and I didnt really like Infiniti or Lexus. I really do like Acura. I hope this helps

^^ Sorry to hear about your accident but glad you are OK and that you are enjoying the TLX. I am very find of the brand and the vehicle and although I'll wait a few years to get one, I will be getting one.

Shop/Service Manual
Today, I made the plunge and bought a 2016 TLX. The 2006 TL is a great car and it is going to my son. Question is: back when I got TL, I was able to download a Service Manual from someplace. From the threads that I looked at today it seems that that is no longer legal (if it ever was.) OK - I still want to get one so where is the best source.
Thanks

I've read that the manuals were online on the Acura website but not sure. Congrats on the TLX.

btw, by service manual, I am assuming that you are talking about the 1000+ page detailed book....not just the owners manual? I will look for the link again and post if i find it.

Yoy may have to enter your vehicle details before the link to the Owner's manual and Warranty works.

As far as the service manual goes, I think those are actually done on a subscription basis for some manufacturers. I'm not sure what Acura is like (whether it's a 1-time fee or if you have to pay to have access on a subscription basis). Those services are mostly for mechanics to subscribe to, but if you're planning on doing all your own work, it might be worth the money.
As a side note, when the time comes to change your cabin air filter, it is a very easy thing. It's just at the back of the glove box and you don't need tools.

2015 TLX vs 2006 TL
Well, I bit the bullet thanks to all the advice from our members. I got a good deal on a 2016 TLX with Tech Package now that the 2017's are at the dealer. It sure has a lot of bell and whistles; don't know if I'll ever learn them all. The 2006 is going to my son; I wouldn't do that if I wasn't comfortable that it is a very good car. This is our fourth Acura; if it is as good as all the others it will probably be my last car.
