I have 2WD TLX.. the VIN number I have falls within the SH-AWD range for the TSB 15-040. Does this still apply to my TLX? It looks like the VINs 2WD/AWD are flipped.

Yeah, the first thing I noticed are those VINs seem weird.

I don't see any VINs on the PDF. At the very top, for VINs, it says "All". What it does reference are Program IDs and Program Part Numbers, which refer to the affected parts in the car.

Based upon the link EE4Life provided, it looks like the VINs may be reversed on TSB 040. I'm at the dealership now getting an oil change and decided not to put the service guy at odds with what the TSB says. I'll wait for hopefully a correction or something to make certain.

I got both TSB 40 and 41 applied as part of a B16 service yesterday, and initial results are that the 2-3 shift, and all others, are smooth as buttah. I hope it stays that way...But it looks like they may have actually fixed this. I had noticed the shift was particularly rough when I was gently revving the engine up to the shift point, and so that was what I tried first, and it was no different than the others. I also tried it with a hard punch from start, which had been very smooth before the fix, and it still was. So, fingers crossed. :-)

What happens in stop and go traffic? Have you tried soft acceleration also? My transmission is fully back to shifting terribly, after the 15-040 update. I did not get 041 done, as this seems to be only if the transmission locks in a gear.

TSB 15-040 was revised today to fix the VIN information and add some information. See the TSB for details.

Seems fine but I don't spend that much time in stop-and-go traffic, thankfully.

Safety feature. To bypass it, just buckle the driver's seatbelt behind you. Put car in neutal and get out. If you open the driver's door with the seatbelt unbuckled, the car will shift into park for safety reasons.

I'm going in for my A1 service soon at 5k miles. I've skimmed through this thread and seems the only TSB that applies to mine are the ones with VIN "ALL" (SH-AWD V6). Should I still verify with the service department about the other TSB that don't call out my VIN? And will they provide me a list of the service done to the car (other than oil change, tire rotation, etc.)? Also, what other things should I look out for before taking it in so I can address it? (Except for the hard shift, gear hesitation, and random rattling sounds).
My dealership seems sketchy with their service so want to make sure they're doing their jobs!

Thanks.

^ My dealership wasn't exactly on top of the most recent SB's. What I would do is print off the ones from this thread you have questions about and just bring them with you. I did that, and what my service rep did was double-check the VINs. If your VIN is outside the range they won't apply the bulletin. But if you have the ones in-hand for them to check, you'll force them to make the call. I'm not convinced they would have gone and looked on their own. They should also confirm in your service receipt what was and was not applied.

TSB 15-034 Broke my Auto Engine Idle Stop

During the B16 service the technician installed this software.
I noticed the Auto Engine Idle Stop wasn't working and got a warning that it was unavailable.
I have an appointment tomorrow to get it fixed.
I did notice in the TSB that if you get a warning while installing that you need to turn off the Idle Stop function.

This one actually happened to me a few months ago and they replaced the actuators just as stated. Haven't seen a problem since. I don't know if you guys will be able to get them to replace it until something goes wrong, though. It is not a cheap fix from what I was told. I could've sworn they told me it was a couple thousand or something to replace if it wasn't under warranty (assuming this is the same thing they did to my car which it seems like).

How did we miss this one? It came out in May. Was it just released to the public?

There will always be PRO's and CON's for a spare tire.

PRO:

Safety of having a spare tire in case of emergency

CON:

Extra weight and space of extra tire and accessories

I can say it is extremely handy having a compact air pump. (No more having to goto the gas station.) In my experience, I've needed an air pump far more times that I've had to change a flat that couldn't be patched.

NOTE: Keep in mind that if you have to use the tire sealant in the event of a flat, it may damage\ruin the TPMS sensor.

^^^ I went through the same rationale and decided against the spare tire since I can't remember the last time I used one. A lady swerved into my lane recently and I drove into a curb at around 50 mph. The tire blew out its side and the rim bent. Had to call "Acura" for a tow because the goop in the trunk wasn't going to fix that. Took about 2 hours to get towed to an Acura dealership. It's like the old saying "the minute you don't think you'll need it, you'll need it". Sadness.

I bought one because my wife does occasionally drive the car, and I want neither of us stranded. Risk mitigation is what it is all about.

EE4Life, I really appreciate your TSB posts!

My VIN was in the range for the timing belt chirps. I brought my car in for an oil change, and my dealer told me there were no recalls for my car. I had printed out the timing belt SB and asked them to check it, and my car was okay.

I guess recalls are different from Service Bulletins, but don't you think the dealer should have told me about this SB rather than me having to tell them? I'm glad I printed this out!

I had that same question at my first A1 service. The service manager says they won't do it unless I ask them about it and have issues with it. Not all VIN are affected even though the TSB called out the ranges. However, by mentioning it to them or printing out the TSB for them, they will look at it and service as necessary.
...that was his explanation to me.

Well with that policy, it's really a good thing we have Acurazine to keep us informed as consumers!

But the SB says:
Start the engine, let it warm up, and listen for a chirp.
NOTE: It can take up to 30 minutes for the engine to become hot enough to hear a chirp.

By that time I'd be driving along to wherever I was headed, and I doubt that I'd hear a chirp if I had one!

The B1 is a 4-cylinder TLX. Based upon this TSB (as of today), it doesn't seem like your car is affected (I'm assuming you drive a 4-cylinder TLX).

The affected ranges are FA000001 to FA025139 on the 2WD V6 TLX and FA000001 to FA010310 on the AWD V6 TLX.

Is this "chirp" a kind of almost whirring sound, i.e., repetitive? Or a single sound that does not reoccur? I have heard the former at times.
