2015 Acura TLX - Critics Review

The car will hit the showroom in the next 2-3 weeks and I couldn't find a single video on youtube where critics talk about this car.

There are only first look videos and the ones posted by Acura. I want critics review

anyone has a link?

The press and bloggers are getting their chance with the car towards the end of this month. It's been posted elsewhere that the embargo will left around August 4th

You started a thread for this? This has been talked about already in other threads, your thread has no information to add to the topic.

Speaking of no information to add, you could have just as easily pointed the poster in the direction of some of the other threads. For example, if you replace your sarcastic, immature, unhelpful reply with this:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=909291&page=5

it would have been more helpful and taken up even less space.

Well said, 4thaccord. I'm not sure why certain folks on here feel the need to be so hostile toward others. It's plain rude.

I've also noticed that now that all of the media outlets are online, like Colin mentioned, you tend to see the same vehicle reviewed on most of the sites within a day or so of each other (for example, this past week I saw reviews of the new Lexus NX or whatever it's called all over the place).

I am also looking forward to seeing the car reviewers opinion on the TLX but it seems there is a hate for Acura product in the car world and I am sure it will be often referred as simply an expensive Accord (lol). At the end of the day, I'll base my decision on my own driving experience but still curious how it will be perceived.

For the record, and I don't want to start a feud here, but Rocket_man is actually an awesome contributor and not one to be attacking people. I think sometime we post things online and it gets taken out of context....I think maybe this is what happened here.

There is no way to misinterpret the intention of the statement "your thread has no information to add to the topic". The context is singular, on-purpose, and obvious. Let's stop defending inappropriate behavior, no matter from whom or where it comes.

I was recently reading customer reviews for the Lexus ES350 (which seems to be equally/better equipped for the money than the TLX) and of course, several people said "it's stupid to pay that when it's just an Avalon underneath; people pay for the Lexus name, blah blah blah. So it's not just Acura.

lol. Yeah, it seems like Rocket_man seems to be alright on this forum. I think for those of us that have damn near been living on this forum waiting for the 5G TLX, we see the same things over and over, posted months later as if it were something new, etc. and it gets people a bit .... crabby.

4thaccord.... I think that is always going to be part of life when an upscale vehicle shares the underpinning of a lower end vehicle.

It seems Acura is more often compared to Honda than other brand....maybe I am just more sensitive to Acura bashing *lol*

Rocketsfan....I agree, and lets face it, we all can have a bad day God knows I have had a few lately....

I'll look forward to reading a Car & Driver Comparison review: TLX V6/AWD .vs. 328 xdrive .vs. Q50 .vs. A4 .vs. is250. I think all these cars are in the same price range +/- 3k.

I would like to see track results and the points assignment and think the TLX should do pretty well in that group of cars. Knowing C&D, BMW will still rank #1 but I think the TLX might swing a #2 possibly- might be close with the Q50.

I want to see that and a TLX 4 cylinder vs. 320i, CLA, A3 and Regal comparison.

I want to see a TLX V6 SH-AWD -tech vs. Q50 AWD vs. IS250 AWD comparison.

IS250>TLX>Q50! this is my prediction.

^ the is350/awd goes for 47k, so that works against a V6/AWD TLX. The i4 TLX against a IS250 is pretty close from a HP perspective with the IS a little pricier when optioned like a TLX. The is250 apparently does 0-60 in 7.7seconds so hopefully a TLX i4 will beat that.

IS250>TLX>Q50! this is my prediction.
In a year the IS20 will get the 2.0L Turbo from the Lexus NX. That will be a much nicer package, more HP and better fuel efficiency. The IS is still a fairly small car. Last week I parked next to one at the airport and it was smaller than my 1G TSX even after it gained size with the new generation. When I sat in one I actually hit my left shoulder on the B-pillar getting out. I do like the car though.

The Q50 starts in the hole for me with so many 1st year issues. I'm sure they will be worked out. I really like the interior, the exterior I can take or leave. But to get folding rear seats I'm looking at $50K.

But the TLX will beat both of these on value. That is the TLX's trump card. It doesn't necessary need to beat it 0-60. Most of us don't race, and it will get us to the next stop light plenty fast. It doesn't need to beat it on the slalom either. So if a shopper sees a TLX that is 95% of the Q50 or IS or the 3-series, or the C-class (ok maybe CLA since the C-Class seems to be moving up market), at several thousand less, many will go for the lower cost option. That is Acura's competitive edge and I'm glad they didn't screw that up by pricing it like the RLX.

I really liked the IS350 AWD....a good reliable option to the Acura/Honda line....BUT the front seats are tight and that info center mouse thing needs to be redesigned. TLX looks like the best bang for the buck assuming the driving dynamics are what I expect. Lexus does need to get that 2L turbo into the IS250 soon. More power and better fuel efficiency is needed (Acura ILX hint hint)

I think the number of buyers cross-shopping between the TLX and the IS will be negligeable. Very different cars in terms of style and size. The IS mainly targets the younger (mid-20's to early 30's) single male crowd. The TLX targets a wider audience: older drivers (late 20's to mid 30's), both genders, young families. Buyers of TLX and of the IS generally have very different priorities.

The Q50 is a more direct competitor to the TLX.

I think the previous gen IS interests both genders.

When I said the IS caters more to the single male drivers, I was implying the current gen IS with the spindle grille.

I think Lexus in general captures a lot of female drivers. IS, ES (I wonder if this demo is 90% female) and RX. The F-sport line was clearly developed to change this trend.

I think the new spindle grill caters to both males and females who are legally blind.

I agree that front end is pretty out there.....but I still prefer over the original 4G beak. Sorry. I do agree that the old IS seemed to be a female dominated car, but the new models are much more aggressive and I feel that the 350 or F will be much more male dominated. I would prefer to buy another Acura, so I am hoping that the TLX will make me smile on the test drive.

The original "beak" was horrible. The top part extends to the hood so the entire thing is huge and comes down at an angle. Thus, it looks like a beak. Terrible.

Now, it's more like a pentagone-shaped shield. Very far from the beak. It's not bad at all now. Why some people still call it a beak and hate it is beyond me.

IS250>TLX>Q50! this is my prediction.

The 3IS 350 Fsport would kick butt on twisties -- it is a serious driving machine. I own one and am impressed with the agility of the machine. It is truly the 1st 3 series beater. From what I understand -- the Q50 would kick butt in a drag race.

The 3IS grill fits the car and for some reason works with the lines. You have to see it live -- step back -- walk around the car, etc. The 3IS is nose heavy i.e. considerable overhang but one doesn't notice it until one focuses on the nose. It just doesn't look like an overhang from most angles. Interesting looking car and I enjoy looking at it.

Well, I enjoyed looking at the 4G too -- so take my opinions as those of an outlier.

Looks like Auto Week isn't following the embargo that was previously mentioned on here.

Certainly not a great review on a first drive. I expect substantially better performance numbers from other reviews.

Thanks for this .

That second delay at launch it's worrying me , as my TL is quite responsive at the smallest throttle input and that's the way I like to be. We shall see the other comments and definitely I'll test it myself.

lol 7.7 seconds... its a dog, even the current tsx beats the snot out of the is250 performance wise. the tlx 4 cylinder is suppose to improve 0-60 times by 1.5 seconds over the tsx.

"The BMW or Audi competitors deliver a greater sense of driver control than the Acura and the Lexus IS." Huh? I can't imagine even greater sense of control than I got on my Acura and get with my 2014 IS.
