Good evening,
While driving home, I had to limp home in my 2007 TL Type-S due to the DTC P0335 that illuminated. The other DTCs intermittently also illuminated, but then went away. I’ve included a photo below. I connected my scan tool and scanned for any pending or hard codes, and the only DTC that remained was the P0335. But I was wondering if there was a correlation with the other DTCs? Would a poor ground affect the rest as well? If memory serves me correctly, these systems share the “G101” ground, but I am unsure where it is located. My scan tool does not offer the abilities to read live data on OEM sensors, only the basics. Besides replacing the crankshaft sensor with an OEM part and OEM sub-harness, how else could I further diagnose if in fact the sensor has failed?

Just did my first timing belt this weekend. Went to put on the big side bracket and realized one of the holes was stripped. The first few threads. With bracket off i screwed bolt in and it catches about a third of the way in and screws in fine. But with bracket in place it wont reach the good threads. So far ive been told helicoil or timesert, just screw a stud in and use a nut (which is what im considering if i can find somewhere to get a stud and if theres room for the bracket to slide out), or try a longer bolt (but ithink it would bottom out before getting torqued properly. Or even the copper wire trick. Has anyone just used a stud/nut for this? Just trying to keep from having to take water pump off to drill it out as id have to remove timing belt again etc. but if thats my only option it is what it is.

Hello guys, I did the sketchy thing and bought a retired Honda unit off of eBay a while back, I had tried to connect it to my computer with a rj45 cord since it doesn't have the usual serial port I read on forums. But I can never get it working with the Honda's "HDS"/"I-HDS" software (I will admit it is an older version since I am not willing to pay Honda's ridiculous prices for their software when I own the device).

I'm just wondering if my understanding of the device I own is absolutely wrong and I shouldn't have bought it for diagnostics on the TL because it is for a completely different purpose.

I always hear about the units having the serial port and having to do the COM1 trick, I was setback when I saw it had a ethernet port and I've found no other forum posts (Honda nor Acura) that include someone having this unit. Could this be a fake device? :(

Hello Folks.

I started collecting parts to upgrade my intake manifold and tb a while back. I have decided to keep the car as is and wanted to gauge what a fair asking price would be for the entire package. I plan on doing some performance upgrades to my replacement car in the next year or 2. I am going to repo my son's M37x when he gets his own car.

I added in pics below.

Manifold and TB was from a TL SH-AWD model. The TB pic shows the 80 mm size. The IM image shows the Mg stamp. The spacers and gaskets are all brand new and were never installed. The manifold and throttle body has been sitting in my garage for a couple years now but is fairly clean. It can use a slight wet sand and another coat of matte black engine paint if you like just to make it look fresh.

So - what do you all think it is worth? PM me if you like, or post your numbers.

2006 TL 5-speed auto transmission in a limp mode

I have a 2006 Acura TL with a transmission that went into limp mode where it will go into gear but only up to 2nd, which I was able to determine by using the tiptronic shift feature to shift manually. I can move it around my driveway in reverse, drive, low gear or move it in neutral but when it broke down on me last February, it randomly got stuck in a low gear, revved high, and I pulled over into a parking lot. There, I tried putting in reverse and drive and it did nothing (it was very cold then here in New Jersey below freezing!). I was told by my usual shop that it needs a transmission and only quoted me for a remanufactured unit from Jasper for $6400. To be fair, they are not a transmission specialist and do not do rebuilds but the shop only checked with 3 local junkyards to see if they have used units available, which they did not have.

I did buy a new car, a 2023 Subaru Legacy XT Touring, but I am thinking of fixing and keeping the TL as a second car as its still on my driveway unless I ultimately decide to sell as is. It's been my trusted daily driver since 2013 with 59k miles and it currently has 157k miles in great cosmetic shape and a strong engine. I hear one recommendation is the AV6/BAYA swap, where a 2006-2007 Accord V6 transmission is swapped in, as it bolts into 2004-2006 TLs. Based on my description of the transmission in limp mode and still being able to go into low gears, is it possible it could be a cheaper fix than a full rebuild like perhaps a solenoid, pressure switches, TCM, clogged transmission filter etc? There is no check engine light or flashing D light. There is a whine at idle and it does smoke and has a burnt smell that I assume is transmission fluid (I changed every 40-60k miles most recently May 2025 but unfortunately the 5AT transmissions were a weak spot).

Posting this because I didn’t see anything on the Suspension Bros set when I was looking.

Ditching the Suspension Bros LCAs and going with SuperPros. The Suspension Bros were not good. As you can see the arm moves around the bushing. ALL the movement should be constrained to the bushing. I would hear them moving on the bushing, coming up to stop signs, when it was dry out. I’m hoping this helps with all the wheel hop as well. Let’s hope the SuperPros are better. My advice would be to buy stock LCAs before going with Suspension Bros.

Im glad that suspension bros were trying for our cars but its too bad that the bushings were not designed properly.
