Hey everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well. I recently joined this forum and was hoping I could ask another question about my 2021 Acura RDX. Sorry if this has already been asked before. I’m still relatively new to this forum, so I apologize in advance if this question is redundant. I recently learned how to do an oil change on this car, but I ran into a bit of an issue when reading the oil dipstick. I was wondering if someone could look over the steps I took and let me know if I made a mistake somewhere.

First, I put the car on ramps and removed the silver skid plate. From there, I removed three or four silver clips with a flathead screwdriver to get the skid plate off. I then removed the 17mm drain plug, replaced the crush washer, and reinstalled the drain plug. After that, I removed the old oil filter, applied a little bit of oil around the gasket on the new oil filter, and reinstalled it. Once everything was cleaned off and tightened, I reattached the skid plate with the clips.

I did some research online, and based on the owner’s manual, I believe the factory oil capacity is around 5.1 quarts of 0W-20. However, after adding a 5-quart jug of oil, the dipstick was still reading low. The dipstick is a little hard for me to read because it has an orange section at the bottom with two marks, one for low and one for full. At first, it was barely reading near the low mark, so I decided to slowly add more oil until it reached the upper mark. In total, I believe the car took almost 5.7 to 5.8 quarts of oil. Is that normal?

After adding the oil, we took the car off the ramps and made sure it was parked on a level surface before checking the dipstick. I also checked the dipstick again after letting the car sit for a few hours. At that point, the dipstick was reading full, but I’m still not sure why it seemed to take more oil than the capacity listed in the owner’s manual.

Do many 3rd gen RDX owners run into this issue when doing their own oil changes? This was my first oil change on this car by myself. I usually take it to the dealership for service, but I am somewhat mechanically inclined and wanted to start doing more of the maintenance myself. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Hey,

Hey,

I hope everyone is doing well. I was wondering if someone could help me out with some issues I’ve been experiencing with my 2021 Acura RDX Technology Package FWD with 48K miles.

Story: Let’s say I’m driving around town or even on the highway. I hear a noise which I believe may be coming from the speakers. It sounds like rocks are hitting your windshield. Another way to describe the noise is that you could be in park listening to the radio, and you hear some weird popping/crackling noise from the speakers. From the research I’ve done, it appears to be a common problem with the RDX that they have issues with something called FAKRA connectors. I believe there is a TSB for this issue. TSB number 23-025.

1. I’m confused about how to tell if you do or don’t qualify for this repair. I checked the NHTSA website based on my VIN and don’t have any recalls. The TSB document says to “Check iN for VIN eligibility”. But I don’t really know what that means. Could any users on here help me figure out if I would be eligible for this repair on my Acura? Can only a dealership determine if my vehicle qualifies for a TSB through their computer system?

2. I’m curious to know that the document says it’s covered for 8 years or 100K miles, whichever comes first. While I’m under the mileage and year limit currently. If my VIN is determined to be ineligible. Would a goodwill warranty or something kick in? I’ve never had this TSB repair done before, and this problem started recently. However, I’ve been seeing a bunch of threads complaining about this issue now, and I’m wondering what would be the best way to go about getting this covered under warranty, if possible? Also, do you guys think I would get charged for anything? Am I required to pay a diagnostic fee?

I hope to hear from you guys soon, and I greatly appreciate any feedback in advance.

Best,

Working on a 2025 RDX and trying to access the wiring on the rear passenger side to connect the trailer harness. Watched several videos regarding having to disassemble the various parts to access the section where the wiring is supposed to be.

I'm stuck with the screws on the tie down latches. The screws are now stripped, and I've used an extractor. The driver side screw head turns loosely, but the screw does not come out and the latch is still affixed solidly. The passenger side screw will not loosen or turn.

Has anyone else ran into this problem? Any solutions?

1) Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus
or
2) Michelin - Pilot Sport All Season 4

The Conti's are almost 4 lbs lighter per tire, which may help rotational mass. Several reviews on tire rack note the Michelin's are a bit firmer and louder.
